Having a child that was labeled by school administration, I feel somewhat personally connected to ET. My daughter was misdiagnosed with ADHD when she was in kindergarten. By 4th grade she was having serious problems acting out at school because of the medications for ADHD she had been on for so long and that she never should have been taking. She was extremely petite and weighed only about 50 pounds at the time, but was on the strongest dose of every ADHD medication on the market (not all at once and not Ritalin - but every single other drug for ADHD).

Despite these efforts she was increasingly combative at school and at home - certainly not the age for teenage defiance when she was only at only 8 or 9 years old. Instead of getting help from her school's administration and counselor she and I both constantly got blamed for her behavior. I even had a vice principal from her elementary school call me and counsel me on how I to need to put my child in medication if she has ADHD. I counseled him on how it is a violation of state law for him to even hint at that suggestion and then reported him to the school principal the very next day. Her response, "Well, I know he's a problem, but he's retiring at the end of the school year". I minored in psychology in college and even studied child psychology, but my repeated request asking that my daughter's psychiatrist and therapist do additional testing fell on deaf ears.

By the time she was in 8th grade I grew disgusted that no one would listen to what I had to say (I personally believe they, the psychiatrist and therapist, believed what I had to say about additional testing but didn't want to lose the money they had coming in from twice a week therapy sessions and once a week psychiatrist sessions), so I eventually took it upon myself to ween her off of the cocktail of drugs they had her on (about 4 drugs that included ADHD meds, anti-psychotics, mood stabilizers, and ability - just for starters). In a matter of a month her behavior improved substantially. By the end of that semester her behavior problems at school completely stopped. The next year her grades improved from nearly flunking out of school to being an A, B, and occasional C student.

The point of the story is she and I (especially her) were in desperately need of help. We went though a list of doctors so long it's hard to recall exactly how many there were (my best recollection was 6). We even begged for help with the school counselor, but they deemed it all my daughter's problem. My point is, in my experience the school administration could care less about helping a child in need. They want the kids that act right and therefore make the lives of the teachers and administrators easier and the kids that don't fit this mold get labeled, sometimes permanently, and are never given the attention they need to figure out what the real underlying problem is to give them the opportunity to succeed in life.

My daughter got extremely lucky with the middle school counselor she had. This woman had done specialized studies and research into adolescents and teens with ADHD and knew from the first session with my daughter that she didn't have ADHD. She said that the medications my daughter had been prescribed were entirely too strong for my child, who was extremely small for her age and only weighed about 70 pounds at the time causing the behaviors of ADHD, a classic sign of someone who doesn't have ADHD (if you have ADHD the drugs calm the hyperactivity, if you don't have it the drugs cause behaviors that are similar to ADHD).

Even though the specifics are different, I get the impression there are similarities to what happened with ET and is now what is happening to her siblings. The school knew there were problems with ET's home life, but instead of giving her the help and support she truly needed they instead labeled her as a problem. And then TC came into the picture and took advantage of a young girl with a bad home life and family problems. He took advantage of a kid in need who no one else would listen to or lend support to and she was so grateful for someone in a position of power (in her eyes) to listen to her story and treat her with respect that she probably didn't even notice or care when things started to move in the wrong direction.

O/T......My daughter and I went through almost the same exact thing. I was her advocate with all the doctors, teachers, counselors, etc. I can only imagine if a child had no one they felt would "stick up" for them.

What in tarnation? whats with these so called adults in that community, especially that school sysyem. most people, i like to believe, would tend to understand what ET family's going through. i think she knew to a degree on what was happenning so she doesnt get my pity. :gaah:

I'm sorry for her shock and humiliation, but we are looking at a serious crime against a CHILD here. She can grieve her losses LATER. JMO

I am sure FBI and TBI know ALL usernames of ET and TC in all electronic venues they use. They are perhaps watching closely. It makes sense if they are also watching closely the potential destinations of any message from the two. They could create new accounts but they have to send to known accounts if they attempt electronic communication.

The one thing I am curious is "would it be possible to monitor burned phones traffics so that LE know which burned phones are excessively watching the news about ET's amber alert?" I am 99.99% sure TC watches the news about the Amber Alert. If he cannot go to restaurants and other public places to watch TV, he has a TV where he is hidden and/or he has phone or tablet able to go to the Internet. IMO.

Yeah they always tell you that xthen told my mom that. Her allergy is to shrimp and many times restaurants don't listen and don't clean pans or still put shrimp on something. She has been to the ER a few times after using it and didn't need the doc. So after years of being real familiar, she stopped doing that.

But also TC is a respiratory therapist, he would likely think he could handle it.

This is what scares me. Unless he has the right meds (and those are not a guarantee) he won't be able to handle it himself. Anaphylaxis is not something I would feel TC would have the training or medical support to deal with at all. My daughter has an epi and severe temp change allergy, cold uticaria. It is really scary to see those hives turn into huge connected and growing welts. If the airway is involved, time is crucial and it is an emergency. If the epi fails, time is even more limited and it is 911, paramedics and a hospital ASAP for skilled intervention. TC is no doctor and a full fledged anaphylaxtic attack is not your run of the mill respiratory therapy duties. This really, really worries me.

Snipped by me

Investigators believe she was kidnapped by her teacher, 50-year-old Tad Cummins, and that she is in serious danger.

The reward for Thomas' safe return has now doubled to $10,000.

"He's never wrong. You're not going to convince Tad that he's wrong about anything," said Chandler Anderson, a former colleague of Cummins.

I agree. Her statement seems really out of place considering.

I;m an 80"s girl too, but i don't remember ever hearing that! Is it regional?

80's girl here, too. The only "meister" I remember is Jager.

Kidding aside, not in the 80's but wasn't there a Saturday Night Live character that would come up with goofy nicknames in a skit: "Rob." "Roborama". "The Robmeister?" "Mr. Roboto". (Domo arigato -- I digress).

Curious as to why the OP was asking.... (I smell something sleuthy). I have three sons, ages 15-21. I haven't heard them use 'meister' though.

Edited to add: ah, I see The OP clarified. Tadmeister.

I just keep praying that the reason we haven't had a sighting is because ET is keeping her composure and doing all the right things in order not to spook this nut. A chance will open up, and when it comes, I hope to God she grabs it.

DIFFERENT WOMEN obviously THINK DIFFERENTLY: If my ex left me for a child, teen, or anyone for that matter, he wouldn't get my sympathy. I've dealt with a couple ex bf's. (Note EX's). I'm a woman of faith, and forgiving, but some things are straight up ridiculous! If they want younger, you can't change that. And I'm sure not buying their love, either..

I don't know how to word this, but is everyone in town fairly close with each other?

Agreed! I wondered if that was a tactic that would make it easier to come home? If maybe she doesn't really feel that way??

Personally, I applaud TC's wife for coming forward and pleading for him to return ET. I think she handled the situation the best way she possibly could by trying to persuade him that it's not too late to turn this thing around.

I mean honestly, are people upset that she didn't hit the mike and tell him what a rotten SOB he is? How would THAT have helped the situation?

I think his training would cover that also. He did respond to code blues with the crash team also. Just dealing with RT's with my dad in the hospital and some emergency situations. But with her allergy, if exposed she might only get hives and never be bad enough to use the pen.

They can't do that, it would be mass surveillance of all phones. Besides being too much information to help them, it would be totally unconstitutional.

I got the idea people were a bit angry that it seemed like she was talking about how bad it was for her.

I agree. I work at a law firm where one attorney practices family law. I've seen enough stunned clients completely unaware that his or her spouse was living a separate life, so I'm not going to automatically assume that Mrs. C may have had an inkling. She has the right to feel betrayed and devastated, IMO.

If it was me, I'd like to think I'd go on TV and say, Honey, please, Whatever is going on, we can through this. We'll get you the help you need - medical, legal, whatever. Please come home. Bring Beth to a police station and call me or (insert best friend's name). Then if/when he arrives, I would greet him with open arms - one hand holding a cast iron skillet and the other holding my phone on which my last outgoing call was to 911 reporting a soon-to-be assault.
