Patrol received a call from her son stating that his mother hadn’t made it home. He stated he fell asleep, and when he woke up his mother was not home, which was like six hours, and realized she hadn’t made it. He reported her missing,” Evans said.

Oh no. How far away from home was her church?

I wonder how the weather was?

Why is the poor thing driving herself at night at her age?

I hope she is found safe soon. :(

Also from above article :

“Passenger side rear-view mirror is off or dangling form the car. It’s hanging from a cable, and it might be easy for someone to spot,” Garrett said.

Police say Philpot is a well-liked member in the Haywood County community, and is former circuit county clerk and everyone wants her back home safely.

“Very respected family, very good folks,” Garrett said.

God love her! She's too close to home, I am not liking this at all! IMO

Is there any water around? Perhaps she had an accident?

hmm I'm suspicious of the son's story
but if she really didn't make it home, she will likely be in water somewhere

My 90 yr old mom is not supposed to drive her car anymore. She keeps it so people she hires can drive her around to do errands etc.

But she has admitted to me that she sometimes 'cheats' and goes for a spin. I may have to take her keys when I go for Christmas week.

She seems very lucid about 90% of the time---but every once in awhile she gets very confused and lost. Even if we are just walking down her hallway to go to dinner---she is in her own apartment but in assisted retirement complex---and she will just suddenly go blank, and have no idea why we were going to the elevators. She gets very flustered in those moments.

So even though Mary Lou was only a mile and a half from home, she may have just become flustered and confused. I think even the healthiest 92 yr olds have those 'senior' moments. o_O

The problem is, she's been missing for over 24 hours now. She was heading home, which was 1.5 miles away. How could she not be spotted or at least her car, by now?

I don't know if I suspect the son of anything just yet. If she's 92, he could be in his 50's to late 60's in age. I know of people that go to bed around 8:30-9 pm every night. He might have just been tired and nodded off.
