What TC did is not the kind of thing you do if you are going to be sorry about it later. We all make mistakes and we can be contrite. But anyone with common sense perhaps has thoughts of, "oh, it would be fun to rob a bank, etc.," but you don't do it after considering the consequences. Only calculated predators would do something like TC did, and they are never sorry. Perhaps he's sorry he was caught and LE is not looking the other way.

Kapua, at first blush I think the birthday card idea is a good one. IMO, Keep it light and impersonal. Do you know the date of her birthday and where the address is posted? I think I read somewhere the address was no longer available. Thanks.
I like your birthday card idea. :see ya:

The post was made by me and it's still up. You can also go to the Bring E Home site, which is now called E is Coming Home and the addy is there as well, or just search my username. I simply sent a Welcome Home card, signed our family name, put a pic in it of all of us holding up a banner that said "welcome home from (our state)" and a gift card. The family has asked, on the fb page, not to send long letters, ask questions, or reference things in MSM. They suggest a picture, and my assumption is that those pics will be used to make a collage. It's usually a thing they do to remind the survivor how many people support them.

Ticya,
What I want to know is if you got the boy in the end? :heartbeat:

Thankfully, no. She did. But it didn't last long. She and I remain good friends to this day and I sing in a band with her husband. Friendship won out over silly hormone stuff in the end ;)

I really feel for ET. This grown man has done one heck of a number on her head and I am so angry that he used his position and her trust in order to do it.

I'm not one to discount science but I'm really tired of the repeated "TC is not a pedophile" mantra. I don't care what he classifies as scientifically. According to the law he is a criminal, a rapist, a kidnapper, a fraud.

Humm ... "silly hormone stuff..." What is that? Does Mr. Tad Cummins have some silly hormone stuff, possibly?

IIRC, her birthday is May 17; not 100% sure of that. I will check when I have more time.

You are right. Amen.

But others would like to comprehend the rational of this "absurd" criminality. The CEO who does insider's trading knowing that he risks few years in jail and hefty fines does it for a few millions of dollar. Why are people like TC do what they do? Where is the few millions of dollars?

Quite a massive and obvious difference between a teenage girl and a teenage boy being silly...and what TC did. Is that a difference that's difficult to make?

I guess you could ask TC. I can only speak to my own 15 year old self. I have never been a grown male teacher in a position of authority over a vulnerable previously abused teen girl in her first year of public school. Nor have I ever had sexual contact with a minor or abducted one.

SO he refilled and took his Cialis with him to keep her safe?

Everyone does. What is your point? In our culture, (mostly) and according to our laws, he is a criminal. The expectation is that ADULTS are better at controlling their impulses, of understanding their roles as protectors of children and adhering to the law. Prisons are full of failed adults and that is where he belongs. JMO

I think TC's sister is simply relaying what his "story" is as it was relayed to her. I didn't get the sense that she actually believes that nonsense about him only running off with ET to keep her "safe".

RSBM

This is what I can't seem to figure out. Does Daphne Cummins actually believe Tad's (inane and insulting to anyone with half a brain) excuse regarding keeping MCET safe? I ask because on the one hand, this is first person with Cummins in their name to state on record that he "must pay" for what he did. On the other hand, I suspect as others here have already stated that TC has most likely been manipulating every member of his family his whole life (as narcissistic sociopaths tend to do) and it would not surprise me at all if his sister has bought his story hook, line, and sinker.

I think this comparison is off. In insider trading cases, the defendants are often very rich already - they often have a compulsion to cheat, gamble, show they are smarter than the system. They rarely do it for the money. Violent criminals also often act out of an impulse - and they are not restrained by a functioning conscience or moral compass that tells the rest of us NOT to cheat, steal, murder, rape...

I think she wants to believe it. But he couldn't have been helping her, while also having done "this horrible thing." They can't be mutually exclusive. I think she knows that intellectually. IMO, this family has a lot of codependency to work through. That doesn't usually happen quickly. It will be a very long road for them, as well. (IMO.)

TC's latest excuse that he was trying to "help" ET is absurd. The federal charges are pretty broad and don't really depend on ET's feelings. You can't transport minors across state lines for the purpose of raping them. Based on the sister's interview, TC wants to paint them as 2 young lovers (15 and 16) running away. Well, that's not what happened. I'm not really worried about the Tennessee law when the Federal law applies. The Feds have jurisdiction once you cross state lines.

I usually not one for making predictions but I think ultimately TC will plead to Federal charges in exchange for dropping some of the state ones. He may be trying to drum up mitigation now, but if I were his lawyer, I'd know at the end of the day the facts are the facts and you can't mitigate yourself out of statutory rape. JMO!

Here to vent about the interview with TC's sister. Does he seriously think anyone would believe his lame excuse "she wanted to run away and I took her so she would be safe" and in the meantime, he refilled his Cialis, bought KY, slept in a queen size bed in motel rooms and "had loud sex" (according to the commune)! I can't believe he's blaming the victim - "she made me do it". Of course, ole Tad doesn't know that the world knows a lot of what he's done. He's probably thinking he can convince his sister to campaign on his behalf publically and to help him get his family back. He'd be better served to be repentant and keep his mouth shut.

Note on the latest WHNT19 article:

"For weeks, we shared with you the name and pictures of the Tennessee teenager at the center of a nationwide search. We did so to help authorities rescue her. Now that she has been reunited with her family, we will no longer identify her in our stories. We have made this decision out of respect for her and her family’s privacy, as well as for her long-term recovery. The stories we have aired and published will remain unedited in order to preserve their historical accuracy."

IMO, it sounds like his sister has a little sense if she did indeed tell him that he has done a horrible thing. She seems to understand that he cannot return to his family and resume life as before. She also understands he has a long road before him that he has not traveled before.

Thank you for posting this. I have seen a lot of posts calling TC sister dumb, etc. I think it maybe was not a great idea for her to relay his 'take' that he has given her as to why he did what he did, because now many people seem to be taking that as though she agrees. I didn't think it seemed like that at all. She said what he did is a horrible thing, and that he has to understand his family won't take him back, etc (paraphrasing), and implied that even though he did horrible things he's still her brother and she loves him. Maybe she could have also left the latter out, but sometimes it is hard to see family for what they really are.

My uncle had an inappropriate relationship with his stepdaughter. No one realized it until years after he and her mother divorced. A switch flipped and step daughter called police on him (she was about 26 at the time, but claimed that their sexual relationship started when she was 17). We were never close with my uncle because he led a different lifestyle than the rest of the family, but it was still shocking to hear some of the details unfold. My mom was so disgusted with him, but still accepted his phone calls for about a year because she said well he's still my brother what can I do (both of their parents were dead). After about a year, probably less but I can't remember, my mom decided to stop taking his phone calls because she realized that even though biologically he was still her brother, he still had no remorse, and that's the amount of time it took for her to fully realize he was not the same person anymore that he once was; that he never would be; it was in a way like grieving a loss. Maybe he's not dead physically, but the decent person he once was sure is.

Maybe it will just take TC sister time to grieve that loss. Maybe she too is in shock that he turned out to do such horrible things. It sure does seem like he led a 'double life' before he left TN. I just feel like at this time she, too, is a victim in the situation, and we should tread lightly as far as calling her dumb etc. I don't think she supports what TC has done in the least bit. All JMO

IMO...and to be blunt...TC called the relative he knew he could easily convince to defend him. I think she will end up regretting it and resenting him. That's also JMO.

Agreed.
