And if his boating skills are similar to his camping/wilderness survival skills...

I guess you forgot: He's a professional kayak instructor.:fence:

I'm thinking he never actually went to San Diego, I think he had plans to. Almost sounds to me like he may have stole or rented a boat at a lake on the route from Tennessee to California in order to see if he could operate one. I wouldn't be surprised to find that he changed his plans after deciding it would be too difficult JMO

If they did spend time in San Diego, why would he go +/- 800 miles NORTH in California to bide their time for a trip to Mexico? There are all sorts of communes and such down in So. Cal.

Maybe he got wind of the Amber Alert in Mexico.

OMG! I owe you all lunch! He WAS planning to go to Mexico!!!

Cummins admitted to disabling the vehicle's GPS system, discarded all cellular phones, and monitoring news outlets while on the run. The documents say Cummins also admitted to seek passage into Mexico, procuring a small watercraft and conducting a test run. His intention was to cross into Mexico through San Diego by water.

Your response was to my question

as to which media outlet released the search warrant seizure.

I didn't think that the search warrant was released by LE... and that is my question. Which media outlet got a hold of it, and why didn't they also get one from the car. Andd...... again I will ask, how did they know that the were in Berkeley California?

CNN had it first, I think. LE always leaves a list of what they remove from a home. Probably couldn't get the list from the truck as it was towed away.

Barring the abduction from happening at all in the first place, I'm just glad if it happened that TC crossed state lines. Sounds like the Feds are doing a good job so far, I bet they're well-trained in interrogating his "type". Not confident at all that the state (had he been caught in that jurisdiction) would have been able to get him to crack to the degree that he already has, if at all.

Doesn't LE leave a list of the things they confiscated at the site where the warrant is served? If I am recalling correctly, this was done in another case we had on WS, but I cannot remember which one.

I respectfully disagree. I think they were living as frugally as possible, saving the money for living in Mexico until they found jobs.
Could be ET was really hungry wanted to eat fast food or any food, buy things she needed so he lied to her because he's selfish, stingy and wanted to use it for himself. After all he lied to her about alot of things. Im sure she figured out by now he isnt a millionaire nor CIA agent.

"Quinn said her brother has yet to grasp the gravity of the situation."

I have had a relationship with a narcissist, this is typical, they never believe they've done anything wrong and someone else is always responsible.
By saying he was protecting her from running away alone, he blames ET for her own kidnapping.
I believe Tad has been privileged with a lifetime of enabling; placating and agreeing with a narcissist is the only way to avoid their attacks.

Or if the boat story came from the victim, maybe he told her don't worry we are going to take a boat and soon be on a beach in Mexico. Without actually planning on doing it. Could just be another TC lie to keep control. All speculation and MOO
Edit: to add I see the boat story was actually told to LE by TC

It just amazes me that someone who made so many stupid blunders could manage to avoid capture for 5 1/2 weeks.

He registered for two Motel 8s in OK using his real name and ID.
Got caught on security camera in OKC Walmart.
Didn't wear a hat or a hoodie in the Walmart.
Dyed his ugly goatee instead of shaving it off.
Stole license plates, then removed the plate altogether.
Went to a commune where contributing to the daily work is required and contributed little to the group.
Tried to pass ET off as his wife rather than his daughter.

Etc...

But wouldn't the prosecutor have some evidence of them being in San Diego...and a boat receipt or something to make that allegation? Maybe it is just included, because that's what TC said. It's one of their main reasons to declare him a flight risk, though, among his other shenanigans LOL. JMO

Federal charges were read against Tad Cummins during his first court appearance in Sacramento Monday, but he did not enter a plea.

They already had the hearing? I thought it wasn't until 2:00 PT.

EXACTLY. His route makes no sense. He sure was in no hurry to get to Mexico if he was at the very tip top of the huge state of California.
