The main issue I have w JC's comments is how she said ET knew her and knew what she and TC had. She knew what she was destroying. Really? Really JC? You think any 15 year old truly understands the depth of marriage and all it entails? And then throw in the abuse ET had endured she is far from an average teen who has a clear grasp of relationships and boundaries.
I have no doubt she is reeling, but I think she is displacing blame and looking at this like ET is just another adult. She has the mind of an immature and abused child. Forget the fact that TC was most likely feeding ET lines about his marriage as well and how JC just didn't get him the way she did. I hope she realizes how poorly that sounded and thinks about who is truly to blame here.

I agree. I think JC was giving ET a different story, a story of being misunderstood and neglected.

How many years did it take Mary Jo Buttafuoco to dump Joey?

eta: I don't mean this in a snarky "She waited too long!" way. I mean it like there are other wives who have been put through public hell by their spouses and managed to come out on the other side. Mary Jo got away from Joey and I hope JC tells TC to gtfo.

I do too. I can't imagine being married over half of my life to someone that betrays me like that. I believe I'd crawl in a hole and pull it in after me.

I say, after 30 years of marriage you know someone pretty well. TC was doing this right in front of her and she stuck her head in the sand.
When you live with someone who is a little off, you see signs, red flags, something.
I have to agree with others who pointed out that JC has been raising a man child. Bailing him out of every stupid thing he has done. Enabling him.
He just stuck the knife in a little deeper and twisted it this time.

I don't have much sympathy for her at all. I just can't. But, I do hope she is strong and smart enough to never fall for the BS that comes from a jail cell. They will say anything to manipulate you and if you don't answer they will have someone else contact you with their I love you messages. TC is a predator, he won't stop.

I respectfully disagree; I feel that JC is indeed a victim. I can't bring myself to berate or bash her for her choice of words. She obviously hasn't fully processed everything and she's speaking of her own feelings. I just hope she doesn't do any more interviews for the time being. It's not healthy.

It is certainly not healthy for ET. This lady's comments not only underscore the apparent Maury County perception of the young abuse victim as a scarlet-lettered home wrecker, they ADD to those perceptions and bolden them. IMO.

When you use words like "betrayal" and "romance" and say things like "she knew what she was destroying", you're laying the blame directly at the feet of an immature and confused teen victim of sexual abuse. It's horrible.

There's no confusion as to what those words mean. No need to put words in her mouth. Her words are bad enough. They support the attitude that ET is no victim. That she knew what she was doing. That she had every intent to steal someone's 50 year old husband and have him engage in repeated sexual contact with her while on the run and isolated from everyone and everything she ever knew.

As if a 15 year old child abuse could even begin to fathom the ramifications of her actions.

JC has every right to feel destroyed. But she has no right to add to the destruction of the primary victim of her predator husband. The legal victim of that person.

And her words absolutely have that effect.

My gosh it has been an incredible battle to have even fellow sleuthers see ET as a victim. Some have stated they feel more sorry for the adult JC than the tragic child in this case.

And the comments of the public in that town and across the country? Disgusting.

I hope ET and her family can move away from that county and even the state. JC's words are going to solidify the nastiness toward ET. IMO it's reprehensible. And there is no excuse.

^ Yes, exactly this. Thank you. I think she was a victim and I'm not bashing her or blaming her, but what she said about ET is unacceptable.

:yeahthat:
Gitana, great post...as usual, the voice of reason and balance.

However, you brought up something I was thinking of earlier today.
As far as the family relocating, that would be extremely difficult. A large family like the Thomas family is so interdependent. Especially when money is tight, they depend on each other for everything from child-care to transportation, etc...Some hold the family up, while others pull them down.
Anyways, I 100% agree that ET needs to get the heck out of there, but she needs her family too.
I don't know what the best solution is.

I had so forgotten about Joey and then suddenly had a flash back of Lorena Bobbitt and her revenge!

I agree. I think JC was giving ET a different story, a story of being misunderstood and neglected.

There is no doubt JC is viewing this from the standpoint of complete disbelief. Stunned that her hubby betrayed her at such magnitude. Looking back for "signs" she may have missed. Most of all the utter feeling many wives experiencing any type of infidelity, much less this predatory nightmare, of feeling "duped". Life as she knew it was a lie. Let that sink in. Her entire life.

Although 15 yr old ET is by far the most significant victim, TC left a wake of victims. ET's siblings, TC estranged wife, children, grandchildren. Then the school board and the children he influenced. TC is a disgrace to his profession.

Heartbreaking.

ET is 15. Let that sink in. Life has so much more to offer, than what she has unfortunately experienced up until this point.
May she receive every possible type of help to assist her to lead a happy, productive life. May she understands how manipulated she has been.

Justice for ET.

But JC has been with TC since she, too, was a child. Only slightly older than ET. Our brains are not fully developed until around the age of 24. This is why adolescents and young adults are impressionable, impulsive and often engage in risky behaviors.

Yes, TC was also young when they were first together but I believe he was a manipulator even back then. But let me put things this way:

If ET had not been rescued and had spent years (JC spent 31 years with TC) with her abductor, believing her life with him was a perfect love match and a good solid relationship, and THEN he dumped her off somewhere and left with yet ANOTHER victim, would we be tearing her apart if she said some of things JC has said?

I don't think so. We would understand that she was a victim of TC's brainwashing and manipulation and cut her some slack.

JC is a victim per WS TOS, and she is a victim to me, as well, despite my initial sideeye and then my dismay over her recent interview. But I remembered that TC has been manipulating her since she was barely older than ET. MOO.

Flame away.
:goodpost:
