Actually, we've not been told that ET was in the kayak with him when he did the test run (nor how long that 'test run' was--though I'm inclined to agree it was likely pretty short). Only bringing this up as I think another poster also commented on this (previous page). Not to make light of it; just to differentiate between facts we know and don't know.

One fact we do know (from the 20/20 video I just viewed onYoutube), is that she was not pasted to his side 24/7. One clip of him shopping in Walmart shows him repeatedly cycling back to the hair color aisle with his cart; she was not in that video clip. So there is no reason to assume he did his 'test run' with her in the kayak, IMO.

That's why I put "allegedly" in my post because the information that he did a test run came from TC himself; there was no confirmation from anyone else. I also think it is very important to keep our facts straight.

That clip of him shopping the hair color aisle in the Walmart was a from a different Walmart trip that occurred before the abduction.

That Walmart video of him in the hair color many times - was before he left, not afterwards.

Apparently he didn't have enough experience to do it. Since he gave up on the idea.

My question is why would he even attempt that? Once in Mexico how was he going to travel with no car and only a kayak? Totally stupid plan.

  • #824
Yes we have. The family attorney said ET was in "Mexican waters" with TC.

And the WM video was from before they left

BBM,

I missed that.

Link anyone?

TIA

How do you know the photographs were from when she was younger? By all accounts, this is a teenager who looks young. Now. Today. She is only 15.

Well, she had braces in some and she also was a toddler in others.......and hair of varying lengths....

I think many of those pics were not recent. MOO.

*only we did find out it WAS!
TBI and JC said it was not for this.
IMO it proves he was planning on leaving with her and using the haircolor on himself.
Her kidnapping was premeditated.

“We have determined the purchase of hair dye by Tad Cummins was not part of his [alleged] plan” for Thomas, DeVine tweeted"

The kayak to Mexico story came from TC's statements to the police, and from there it became part of the court papers arguing that he is a flight risk and then to the family attorney's statements. That is the only source, unless someone has a link to prove otherwise.

It may be true, but just remember where that information originated.

From the lying lie-hole of the lying liar himself?

For those that sleuth to find out how to travel as perhaps Tad might have.... do a quick try on "how to travel to Mexico by water".

Pffffft.

Lots of planning if even thinking of.. egads

I spent some time trying to figure it out, and I think perhaps just an outlandish tale.

LE says he did a dry run, but I would assume the ONLY verification on this was his word as no one was cited as saying such. I call bullchit bingo on this one. If that is even true, it was done to impress, knowing that it couldn't be done. 500 yards out, he would be saying, "nope, too dangerous" :cow: We are talking about the Pacific Ocean, not a lake.

:moo:

Doesn't seem likely that that was a realistic venture... perhaps just to impress as a tale to fullfill?

....

ETA: As to the most recent show this past Friday that showed her bedroom and private information on "her space" that was outed to the world.... her bedding, her "blanky".... SMH... at her age I would be so very upset my privacy had been shared with the world by my family... (I typed another word... but settled on "very upset"... that description times 1,000 in her situation. I am so very concerned that her privacy is so "outed" for others to know, and for her learning that others know and have "been in her bedroom/her most private place in the world".. :pullhair: )

ETA #2 - I just cannot fathom that those in her care are approving and supporting that cameras went into her bedroom with the media. SMH... devastating as to what I'm thinking of if I were in her place

If the family attorney is simply relaying what TC told him, I'd need more proof than that. It'll come out at trial...if it comes to that. (If he's smart and cares for ET at all, he'll cop a plea, though.)

The 20/20 video made it appear (to me) that it was from the same time as the spotted-in-Walmart-in-OK video (where they were filmed coming into Walmart together). Sorry if that was mistaken. I thought I'd read in another source that they picked the hair dye up along the way (after leaving TN). Doesn't ultimately matter. The point is, she wasn't tethered to him, so it's not inconceivable he could've made that test-run without her. If he actually made one, that is. ;)

ITA about airing ET's most private space. Very invasive. But I guess the family approved it.

Although, it did appear that room was shared with the sister? If so, ET had little privacy at all.

I shared a room with my sister also... but to have my bedding, and my room, and my comfort blanky talked about and trotted out to the entire world... at my age of 15 or 50 something... I would go ballistic - there, I said it. I would be "very upset" and I cannot fathom that the caretakers were consulted and approved of this as I really think this would be AGAINST her best long term interests emotionally.

Not to parse, but I *believe* today she may be 16. Read in a recent article that she just celebrated her 16th bday sometime in the last week or so. Glad for her dad's sake she was back in TN to celebrate it.

So was it important for the press to tell us that she didn't bathe for 2 weeks while this case isn't even going to be tried in front of a jury for months?

So we call her a underage victim but LE and the press can't hold out on certain privacy information until this case goes to court in front of a jury months from now?

Come on.

BBM -

The family attorney told the press that... re shower/bathing

"“I was so shocked when I saw her first,” Whatley said. “I didn’t know it but she was even smaller than she was used to be being. She [had] lost a lot [of weight].”

He added that it appeared that Thomas had not showered or bathed the entire time she was gone."

I think growing up in a big family (especially in a small house) can sometimes warp your understanding of privacy. I lived at my grandma's house with 6 other people (and at one point 8 other people) and I had very little privacy. I shared a room with my grandma and cousin and our room didn't even have a door at one point. I had no privacy. I couldn't write in a journal without others finding it and reading it. None of the kids could do anything without someone else knowing. If this was me and people were sharing things from my room, I would have been embarassed but it would just be par for the course with me and another item in the long list of reasons my childhood sucked.

Is this the case with ET? I don't know but maybe it is. Maybe she never knew what privacy was anyway and it won't be devastating to her. Or maybe it will be gut wrenchingly embarassing and she will be devastated. I don't know. I just hope by the time she has access to the media that it will be long forgotten by most people.

I agree and plus I have seen other photographs where she looked older and more recent. That had been posted.
