Maybe ET has even been asked whether she would be OK with them showing things to help the case? My Little Pony is hardly embarrassing, many teenagers admit to liking MLP nowadays - ever heard of Bronies? The security blanket may be something her peers already knew about - she brought it to school, didn't she? Of course this is all my opinion, I don't know what ET is going through.

I have my doubts she's being consulted about these specific things, though it's possible her dad or sister or atty *might* mention them to her, I suppose. But I get the feeling that her therapists would not encourage her even being aware of what's being said about the case right now - regardless of who's talking. And I would hope that what her therapists are advising is being followed, here. About the blanket...if she did bring it to school, it'd be my guess she kept it hidden in her backpack. This poor gal didn't need any more reasons for being the target of bullying.

Were the video clips of ET's room and the interviews done after ET was found or before? I know one with her dad was done after, but I am unclear about the rest of it. One thing I do know is everyone needs to stop talking and give this child her privacy. I hope the people overseeing her care will intervene and get a gag order for everyone if needed.

In all the cases that I have followed, I don't think I have ever seen a victim so exploited, let alone a child and a child of a rape on top of that.

I agree and am hoping the videos were shot before she was found and not after. I want to wrap my arms around ET and protect her from all of this madness and the backward thinking some have. I am confident she will survive and rise above all of this if everything is handled correctly.

I agree with you but I also think they HAVE to overcome the fact that it appears ET ran away with TC somehow. Just look at the comments in MSM of folks that say she ran away with him. If the only thing we saw in the news was the video of her carrying her stuff out then perhaps everyone would think she did this of her own free will. A jury will be pulled and likely they've watched the news.

IMO showing she carried a blanket, had certain stuffed animals will hopefully help others see she is young and not fully responsible for leaving with TC. I personally don't like it either but TC gets away with this because the jury thought she was a run away and fully capable of making decisions that would be worse I think.

I will admit I am conflicted as well though.

The 20/20 video of her bedroom was after she was found.

While watching, I was surprised at the bedroom video. Between having her private space and things shown on TV, to the family's attorney saying she looks like a 12 year old child, then saying it looked as if she hadn't showered the whole time she was gone, it's extra embarrassing. I wondered if she had any idea that her bedroom was being shown.

Unfortunately, I agree that they are probably positioning for either lawsuits and or trial. I'm not judging that at all here.
Perhaps they do believe they will be better able to support ET and her healing if the details are exposed but I still question that motive/angle.
I would think a good psychologist with any experience would be able to join the attorney and defend her youth and innocence, especially after the abuse and long progression of grooming.

Wish I could fix her world and make the tragedy go away.

Been saying this since the beginning. You only need a passport to return to the US. The problem isn't getting into Mexico, it's getting back home.

You don't even need a passport to return, if you are a US citizen. They can't, not admit US citizens. I posted the video a while ago of the guy driving into the US without a passport.

The time of the filming wasn't clear. If I heard the report right, she is staying in a mental health facility. So her room could still be empty. But again the report wasn't very clear on that.

Do you mean in the context of the lawsuit against the school? Emergency relief in the form of tuition paid to a private school elsewhere or something? I don't think so.

I think the closest thing they could get via any sort of action would be a district-provided tutor like they give for kids who are too sick to attend school. They'd have to appeal to the district for that.

Not sure about TN, but at one time in OH I heard you could pick your school district, and the school would bus you. I assume it would be a nearby one. Not sure how it is now....

I am conflicted as well. I want ET to receive the best care for the best possible outcome. Yet I want TC to go down. As far down as the Law allows. I don't trust a local Jury pool.

I don't think they are quick to update their inmate list. I sorted the inmates by date and the latest listed was in April.

I sorted by clicking on the booking date, and got 25 in the past week, many more every week of the year....and two as of today. I'm anticipating we'll see an update there later today or tomorrow.

The article by the Tennessean says

" It is not unusual for federal inmates facing charges in the middle district of Tennessee to be held at Kentucky jails pending trial. . An automated recording system at the Henderson County Detention Center in western Kentucky confirmed on Monday Cummins was in custody there on a federal hold"

Officially you do need a passport or pass card. A minor can get by with a birth certificate. Maybe they don't bother in Tijuana but if you check with the embassy or many travel site they do require that you have it. Of course you need it coming back too. They can't take it on trust that you are a US citizen.

At this facility, as a federal prisoner, it appears his visitations ( ) will be limited to two non-contact visits of 15 minutes each per week. (It appears that state prisoners at the CSC compound get two 30 minute contact visits)

I also found of interest "The Henderson County Detention Center is one of only three county jails in the state of Kentucky that is self sufficient, costing ZERO county tax payer dollars to operate."

I was just coming to post this. I'm from Evansville which is just up the road from Henderson and I saw our local news reporting that he's there.

ETA: http://www.courierpress.com/story/n...ght-run-student-now-henderson-jail/101448080/

Court documents say Cummins, who was Elizabeth's former teacher, built a relationship with the girl and even threatened her, pressuring her to leave with him.
Thank you C&P for stating this, a lot of people need to hear it.

Meanwhile, Cummins isn't the first nationally known prisoner to be housed in Henderson's jail. Former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle also spent time at the Henderson jail while waiting for permanent housing in the federal prison system.
Oh wow.
