I don't quite understand this. Didn't Tad admit he had sex with a minor in numerous locations. How is this going to help him???

As I see it...

One can be standing over a body with a smoking gun and there be witnesses and still plead not guilty hoping they can sway a jury. It's our justice system.

But I'm sure one of our lawyers can explain better.

I think he/his lawyer think they can plead their case that TC was helping and ET was in love, hoping to sway a juror so that he gets less time in jail?

I wonder if they'll have him on suicide watch?
I wouldn't be surprised (with his kind, gentle soul and all) if he can't handle being detained until trial. I've no doubt he figured he'd be let out in the interim because of all of his 'good deeds, pillar of the community' mumbo jumbo.
I wouldn't be surprised if he attempts a sheet trick.

Cummins attorney says he is "going to provide him zealous adovacy under the 6th amendment" @whnt

FYI... GRRRRRRRRRRR... then again, others here have stated that for federal, it is intent so she doesn't have to testify/him confront. So it may just be bloviation by defense?

The Sixth Amendment, or Amendment VI of the United States Constitution is the section of the Bill of Rights that guarantees a citizen a speedy trial, a fair jury, an attorney if the accused person wants one, and the chance to confront the witnesses who is accusing the defendant of a crime, meaning he or she can see who ...

...

Totally JMO, but I think it's disgraceful attempt to intimidate ET from afar. This monster will not stop tying to abuser her, IMO. I hope I'm wrong here, but I think he is going to be to continue making her life hell. Not necessarily even for a defense, but because he's twisted and pissed.

JMO.

I wish I could have seen the look on his face when the judge said he's a flight risk.

I was wrong big time. I thought he would plea guilty to spare the ones that he hurt and destroyed more emotional, mental and physical hell down the road.

SBM

These are the types of things I want getting back to ET. She needs to hear these things and how he apologized to his wife and said he loved her IIRC.

I think he still can anytime before trial and maybe even during I'm not sure how that works, but he has time to change his mind and plead guilty.

I don't think he will but I hope he does.

IMO, he doesn't give a crap about them. He'll pander to anyone willing to hear him out, but for his own sake.

They argued that since all of his family and friends are in Middle Tennessee, he would have no reason to leave. :rolling:

The judge heard testimony from two people. The fist was a U.S. witness who testified in detail to the progressions of Cummins' trip with the 15-year-old student.

Cummins' attorney called the second witness - his sister Daphne Quinn, who testified that if Cummins was released he would live with his parents in Mount Pleasant.

In TC's case, I'm guessing it is a matter of familiarity. You know how when you are out of town and shopping at an unfamiliar grocery store, for example, how you have to figure out where everything you want is located. But if most Walmarts are set up with the aisles the same throughout the country, you can get in and out quickly.

Also, many Walmarts are open 24 hours and some are open until 11 PM.

Plus, TC just lurves him some Walmart. Wasn't every other IG pic of Wallyworld?

Huh???
What are they saying here?

"Cummins family member says that Tad will be punished but the main thing is that the victim gets the help she needs"

IMO it would be really rare to have a guilty plea this early in the case. It's standard to plead not guilty and later change your plea. Both sides will be working to build their case in the weeks and months to come. Even if TC were planning to plead guilty, he'd want to build his case so when he went into plea discussions he could point to evidence or weak spots in the case to try to get the charges or sentencing recommendation down.

At some point, Cummins reportedly admitted to disabling the GPS on his car and replacing his license plate with one from Alabama.

After leaving Decatur, they travelled to Birmingham and started heading west to Mississippi, staying in Mississippi for at least one night before heading northwest to Oklahoma. While there, they were caught on surveillance at two different Walmart stores.

From Oklahoma, Cummins and Thomas headed to Colorado where they began using aliases. The FBI agent says they presented themselves as John and Joann Castro, ages 40 and 24 respectively, a married couple. Cummins reportedly chose a Hispanic last name since their ultimate destination was Mexico.

I never even thought of his parents still being alive (I hope that didn't come out wrong, I just didn't think about that). Wow, they must be so heartbroken and embarassed to have TC as a son.
