GUILTY TN - Micah Pate, 26, Bartlett, 30 April 2009

Sadly, I have to agree with you Sanddollar. I SO wanted this to be something less sinister. Sigh.

No one jogs in that area unless their home is in that location. There are no sidewalks and very few street lights. Her home was about 7 miles away.

Posters on the local newspaper The Commercial Appeal reported that it had started raining and thundering at the time her husband said she left.

sigh..... explains the crime scene tape around the home and the men in little white suits and cops with blood hounds, eh?

bumping this... also if you check out the terrain... it is just plain remote and wooded... Unless she was doing a 12 miler on a weeknight I just don't buy the location being one that she reached on her own!

No, and there is no way one would jog down Highway 70. There are no sidewalks and you would likely be hit by a car. Yea, those white coated men at the house all day long must have found evidence to lead them to her body because that area would be a good place to hide a body.

Wonder what tomorrow will bring with the husband... if he had led them to a location I think it would have been reported? Then again it is fairly new news. It is such a remote location that you would think it would have to have been tipped. Then again, if there are hunters or farmers or fishermen out in that area I could also see someone stumbling over it..... Hubby didn't call until ten thirty so anything could have happened between the time she got home from work and when he called... (around four and a half hours or so). I surly hope this is not another one of these type of cases and if he had nothing to do with it my heart goes out to the man.

(snip)
Micah's husband Thomas Pate reported her as missing around 10:30pm when she never returned from her regular run.
Thomas was identified as a suspect by investigators, and then told police where to find her body. Thomas Pate is currently in police custody; he is expected to be officially charged with his wife's murder Saturday.

How did I know this would be the case? Why? Why? Why? do people do things like this to people they are supposed to LOVE?

Not to worry about the husband. He took the police to the body. He has been taken into custody. What is happening to this world? What happened to spouses getting a divorce?

At least the guy cracked fast and gave it up. I agree Sand...what happened to murder vs divorce.

ETA I said that backwards.... what happened to divorce vs murder!

I think we need a public education campaign about the virtues of divorce compared to spending your life in prison.

May Micah rest in peace. I am so sorry this happened to her. AND many prayers to her family.

I have family in the area, too, and just found out via my sister's facebook that Micah's body was found.

Apparently, he accidentally shot her. Did he accidentally hide her body, also?

This is just so sad!

Yes, I am glad to see that he admitted he killed her, even if he is saying it was an accident. That is a good beginning. It does not seem like he spent much time planning her death.

The discovery came after hours of looking for the victim. Pate's husband even joined friends and neighbors in the search.

"He was very upset. He was crying. It looked like, I mean it really looked like she had really gone missing and he was real upset. Real upset. He just said have you seen her," said neighbor, Stephanie Long.

Stephanie Long and her husband, Scott live across the street from the young couple. The Pates had two dogs, no children and seemed happy. Micah was a nurse. He worked from home for a physician's recruiting agency. In his spare time he loved to hunt. She liked doing anything outdoors But neighbors were somewhat suspicious about her last reported jog. Thomas told them his wife disappeared after she left for a nightly jog, Thursday
