Metro Nashville police are working to identify a woman found fatally shot in a creek off Fairview Drive.
A passerby walking a dog found the woman Wednesday morning, according to a news release from MNPD.
The victim is a Black woman with short hair and appears to be in her 20s. She was wearing black Adidas joggers with white stripes on the sides, a black coat over a Father Ryan sweater and a black Vanderbilt sweatshirt. She was also wearing a purple domestic violence awareness month bracelet.
Scars on the woman's body suggests she previously had brain surgery and surgery to her right arm, according to MNPD.
Police believe she died several days ago, and to their knowledge does not match any current local missing persons reports.
The medical examiner's office is trying to identify the woman by her fingerprints, MNPD said.
Anyone with information about the victim is encouraged to call Nashville Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
