Potter's fields (and other cemeteries of that type, like the cemeteries of former institutions) generally have the worst record keeping, unfortunately..

Her age has been changed to 21-35

Her age has been changed to 21-35
Which means Sherry Jones (mentioned upthread as believed to be this Jane Doe) now falls smack bang in the estimated age range.

According to a bunch of sources, people said her name was either sherry or cheryl.

Harpeth River Jane Doe

On March 24, 1976, a fisherman found a teen’s body in the Harpeth River about 200 yards from a bridge on McCrory Creek Road and downstream from a recreational area near the border of Cheatham County.

Authorities determined the female had died due to drowning, but it is unknown whether it was accidental or the result of a homicide. Several abrasions were found on her body that indicate she may have been held underwater.

Known as the “Harpeth River Jane Doe,” the girl was estimated to be around 14 to 17 years old with brown eyes and brown hair. She likely died just hours before her body was found, and had a stature of around 5-feet, 2-inches.

Other identifying factors included a mole on her left temple area; two surgical scars on her abdomen area; old scars, possibly cigarette burns on both arms; and an oddly positioned left “fang” tooth.

She was wearing a rawhide bracelet and a choker-type necklace with beads and a white dove. A blue blouse was discovered in the river the day after her body was found, but it’s unclear if it belonged to the girl.

She also had a black comb, one nickel and a photograph of a young blond-haired boy with “Little Charlie” and a phone number written on the back in the back pocket of her jeans.

The phone number belonged to a Nashville man who told investigators he and his brother-in-law had seen the girl about 10 days before she was found in the river. He claimed they picked up the teen and her friend on Highway 24 as they were hitchhiking.

He also told police the two girls had run away from a mental hospital in Minnesota and were on their way to Florida. The men, who claimed they dropped the girls off at the Winchester exit, were never labeled suspects.

The teen’s female companion was described to be about the same age with sandy blonde hair, but she was never located or interviewed
I think in her NamUs profile it said she had large breasts for her estimated age. I will say this is probably due to early puberty or genetics.

I have a friend who used to go to school with me. She had a pretty large chest since she was in seventh or eighth grade, basically to a point where she wants to get them reduced when she's older. This isn't meant to sound like I'm a creep at all (Im AFAB myself), I'm speaking from a standpoint where girls 14-17 can have a larger chest size due to puberty coming earlier or genetics. she could still be 14-17 and still have a larger chest size because of, again, early onset puberty and possibly genetic factors.

According to some research, women of color are more likely to hit puberty earlier than white women, which can explain the chest size. Hispanic and Black girls are likely to hit puberty at around 7 and a half to 12 years old, rather than the given estimate of 8-13 for white girls. It could also explain the reason why she can have a large chest at the given age range, since according to research they do tend to hit puberty at a much earlier age.

She could probably be older, but we'll have to see

Nearly five decades have passed since a fisherman discovered a body caught on a small tree while out on the Harpeth River.

Her body was discovered on March 24, 1946, approximately 200 yards from a bridge on McCrory Creek Road, downstream from Harpeth River State Park in Davidson County.

She was found wearing only blue jeans, a white bra, a rawhide bracelet, and a beaded choker with a white dove pendant at the centre.

After Metro Nashville police responded, Authorities say she was sexually abused before her death. The cause of death was determined to be homicide, likely strangulation or drowning inHave you seen this child? Jane Nashville Doe 1976 the Harpeth River, and that she had been dead for less than 24 hours. Whether it was accidental or a success of homicide, it remains undetermined. The investigators said there were several abrasions on her body, hinting at the homicide route; she MIGHT have been forced/held underwater until unconsciousness.

A forensic artist with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) later created a facial reconstruction of the girl featuring her necklace.

But, there was a photograph found in the deceased woman's back pocket of her jeans that reportedly helped detectives learn more about her days before she had been found dead.

The photo was of a blonde boy with 'Little Charlie' and a phone number written on the back.

The phone number belonged to a Nashville man who told investigators he and his brother-in-law had seen the girl about 10 days before she was found in the river. He claimed they picked up the woman & her friend on Highway 24 as they were hitch-hiking.

He described her friend as a slender blonde girl, aged 14 to 17, who wore rim glasses, according to the NCMEC. However, investigators said they were never able to locate or interview the teenage girl they had described.

The man told the police the two girls had run away from a mental institution in Minnesota and were on their way to Florida, but it's unclear if those claims were valid. The two men said they dropped the girls off at Interstate 24's Winchester exit.

Reports indicate the men were questioned but never labelled as suspects.

The Harpeth River Jane Doe is believed to have been around 14 to 17 years old, weighing about 120 pounds and standing about 5-feet, 2 inches tall, with long black hair and brown eyes.

In addition to her jewellery & clothing, investigators noticed a few other unique features. She reportedly had a mole on her left temple, an old self-inflicted scar on both her arms that may have been cigarette burns, two surgical scars on her abdomen and an oddly positioned fang tooth.

Her fingerprints and dental findings were both recorded. The Harpeth River Jane Doe remains unidentified, and if you think this can't get any sadder, then you probably don't want to know that DNA can not be retrieved because after she was buried in a cemetery on 18th Ave. N. grave markers kept getting knocked down and moved. Investigators have admitted that they do not know where in the graveyard her body is located to exhume for DNA.

According to the NCMEC, her name may have been Sherry or Cheryl. However, efforts to uncover her identity remain ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Metro Nashville Police Department at 615-862-8600.

PERSONAL NOTE:

This is my first Post/Thread, and for my first attempt on this website to spread awareness, I wanted to shed light on this case, which I've been following for a while because of how tragic and sad it was. And trust me, every unidentified person deserves a name at rest. But, just the actions that were barely taken by authorities to give this poor woman her name back are absolutely saddening, especially the part wherethey couldn't locate her body in the cemetery. :(

BUT I don't want this case just to be left cold, so I hope people see this. I tried researching her on this website and found nothing about her, so tonight I wanted to bring her justice. Maybe the internet can do its thing and actually come together to find her justice after 50 years of undiscovery. It's happened before, and WE will all hope it can happen again for moments to come.

Someone's daughter, someone's niece, someone's granddaughter, someone's sister or brother, someone's best friend, someone's life.

Everyone deserves a name at rest.
