Nashville police investigate whether spate of 'cold-blooded' killings are connected

An all-out manhunt is under way for two "cold-blooded killers" in a rash of deadly shootings this month in Nashville -- and police are investigating whether all of the crimes are linked to the same gunmen.

The latest shooting happened early Friday in the parking lot of a club on Gallatin Avenue. Four people, including Bartley Teal and Jaime Sarrantonio, had just left Cobra Nashville about 3 a.m. when two armed men approached them and announced a robbery, police said.

Teal told the suspects he didn't have anything to give, authorities said. That's when at least one of the gunmen shot Teal -- who was celebrating his 33rd birthday, police said.

The suspects then fatally shot Sarrantonio, according to the Nashville Police Department.

East Nashville shootings: Victims linked to Nashville music community

Jamie Sarrantonio, 30, worked as a client manager for Aloompa, a Nashville-based software company. And worked part-time for Tinderbox Music, a Minneapolis-based company dedicated to promoting indie artists across the country.

The 2009 graduate of Vanderbilt also worked as a manager for RedGorilla Music Festival in Austin.

Jon Belanger, the CEO of Tinderbox Music, said that Sarrantonio joined his team as a intern a year before she graduated. He then hired her after he said he was impressed with how she "worked harder than everyone else."

...

Bartley Brandon Teal was killed on his 33rd birthday when he was encountered robbers Friday morning and told them he had nothing to offer, police said.

Jaime Sarrantonio, a part-time assistant for a company promoting unsigned artists, was with Teal and killed for reasons that police are still trying to make sense of.

The deaths of Teal and Sarrantonio outside of The Cobra, an East Nashville bar, were the latest in a series of violent incidents that police believe could be related.

...

Investigators were searching for the suspects, who could be linked to at least three other incidents, but Teal's friends and bandmates were coping with the death of an East Nashville musician killed on his birthday.

Teal was a guitarist, vocalist and songwriter for the alternative rock band Terrestrial Radio
. The Cobra had been the site of new beginnings for the band -- they had played their first gig there in February, according to singer Magan Rance Rish.

"He was a songwriter, an amazing singer and fantastic guitarist. He wrote a lot of our music and we sang most of them together," said Terrestrial Radio singer Magan Vance Rish."

I know it's Nashville, but there are so many music/industry links in these cases.

In the story link, another possibly related robbery also happened outside the Cobra club, where Sarrantonio and Teal were murdered.

In yet another robbery, the wife of a OneRepublic crew member was shot and paralyzed.

Has anyone seen this story in the national news?

I'm kinda surprised I haven't seen much on it until today.

Police are pursuing active leads in East Nashville and Madison shootings that killed three

Nashville police continue to investigate the two separate shootings that killed three people this week in East Nashville and Madison.

Since Friday, "information has been developed" in the fatal shootings that occurred early Friday outside The Cobra bar and early Tuesday on Alta Loma Road, said Don Aaron, spokesman for the Metro Nashville Police Department. Aaron said he could not be more specific.

"Active leads are being pursued in both of the homicide cases," said Aaron, on Saturday.
...

Around 3:30 a.m. Friday, Jaime Sarrantonio, 30, and Bartley Teal, 33, both of Nashville, were shot in the parking lot of The Cobra at 2511 Gallatin Ave., police said. They both died from their injuries.

Sarrantonio and Teal had gone to a nearby convenience store for snacks. After walking back to the bar's parking lot, two men in a dark-colored sedan pulled up and got out of the car to rob them, police said. The suspects drove away and dumped the victims' belongings in a North Nashville alley.
...

Around 5 a.m. Tuesday, Kendall Rice, 31, was walking in the 100 block of Alta Loma Road to catch a city bus to work. Witnesses say a dark-colored sedan drove up behind him and two men inside shot Rice with a rifle before leaving, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his personal belongings were missing.
...
Victims and witnesses in four other shootings and robberies have shared similar stories. (more about the three other shootings in link)

Aug. 8 in Inglewood: Around 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 8, a 39-year-old woman was walking her dogs on Moss Rose Drive near her home when she saw a dark-colored sedan drive by her, police said. The car drove by her again.

The woman told the men to leave, they shot her in the lower back and she called 911. The woman, the wife of a crew member for the OneRepublic band, is now paralyzed. The band is helping raise money for her care.

Detectives had already said they were investigating a possible connection between Tuesday's shooting death of Kendall Rice and two other robberies the same morning.

A short time after Rice was killed, a man was critically wounded when he was shot at the Falcon View Apartments on East Palestine Avenue.

There was also an attempted robbery at the Rivergate Meadows Apartments in Goodlettsville. Two men armed with a rifle tried to rob a man who was able to get away.

Side note: If you're of the right age/demographic, OneRepublic is a heeeuuuuugely popular band. Musicians also like this band, as one of its members has produced/written/collaborated on hits for lots of folks — Paul McCartney, U2, Adele, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé ...

I'm repeating myself, but I'm still surprised there isn't more about all of this in the national media.

OneRepublic asks for donations for crew member's wife who was shot in Nashville

The band OneRepublic is asking for people to donate to a Go Fund Me after a wife of one of their crew members was shot and paralyzed.
...

Members of OneRepublic took to Facebook to ask people to donate to a Go Fund Me to help offset cost of medical bills and moving.

Ryan Tedder, the band's lead vocalist, said in the video the woman lost her spleen and is undergoing multiple surgeries.

"This video isn't about the epidemic of gun violence that exists in this country, which is unspeakable and me physically ill," Tedder said in the video. "This is about helping people that are close to us, that mean everything to us."

Thanks for posting this, its very sad. Very frightening, too. Are the perps attempting to rob them in each case? If not, it's similar to "Trai" Donaldson, the serial killer in Tampa, FL last year. Of course, he's arrested now, but are there other people who like to wander around late at night in certain neighborhoods, just killing innocent people?

Man arrested, to be charged in string of Tampa murders

Love and support to all the struggling young writers, musicians and techs trying to get a break and make a decent living in Nashville.

It does remind me of the Tampa shootings a bit.

The news reports aren't clear — the victims are being robbed. However, in the recent double murder, the victims said they had nothing and were shot — two people with them were not, it's not known (from the news reports) if they interacted with the shooters.

But in at least one case, the suspects also dumped stolen property in an alley. Police found it and are examining it.

From the report of the woman who was shot and paralyzed, she was walking her dog late at night, and it's not clear if she was robbed.

I checked out the neighborhood of Moss Rose Dr. on Google Maps. Seems like a nice residential street, but it's not far off the busy areas in East Nashville. From the shootings and robberies, it looks like two guys cruising areas along Gallatin Pike. Odd some may not have been robbed. Maybe they're doing it to rob people, but get a thrill from killing, too.

News says two guys, possibly one with dreadlocks, driving a black sedan. Hope they can ID the car and hope they're checking security cams at businesses all up and down Gallatin Pike around the time of the other shootings.

Here's a "guesswork" map based on the little information from the news stories.

Google Maps

Map including 23 Ave North, where news article said the killers dumped items they robbed from people at the Cobra. LE said they may be familiar with this area.

A fund has also been established for Brandon Teal’s funeral expenses. I’m not plugging it; but it’s vetted and reported on in the link.

https://www.wkrn.com/news/friends-family-mourn-loss-of-2-killed-in-east-nashville-shooting/1378868815

With heavy tears, Brandon's stepmother said, "He had a great love for music, he was a great kid and that he will be missed more than he will ever know."

She said Brandon was the lead singer and guitar player in the band Terrestrial Radio that sometimes played at The Cobra.

News 2 spoke to Brandon's boss who said he was a laid-back guy, but a hard worker. The lead man for his construction company.

Brandon's stepmother said, "If we have a break in this case whoever shot and murdered our son on his birthday will pay. Justice will be served."

Brandon's father described his son as someone that would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.

proof/more proof of what ''inhumans'' the police have to deal with
they just murder--in cold blood
these people are not normal/thinking like us/thinking rationally [!]
they are super dangerous and always a threat--armed and unarmed
these are ''animals'' with ''human'' brains---very dangerous
These are just two senseless cold blooded homicides
bold mine
that's why it's hard to deal with people like this--they make no sense-they act senseless/different/etc

Omg I just saw this on the news. My little brother lives smack in the middle of the east Nashville area shootings. I’ve already sent him lots of warnings now. The area where of the moss rose drive shooting is very nice, I have driven through there many times. Nice houses, nice yards, kids toys, etc. these killings would be very high risk I feel like. I know lots of people in the neighborhood involved in the music industry, so I can’t say I’m surprised by the connections necessarily, I am surprised I am just hearing of this today though with the connections that the victims have had.

That’s really terrifying!

I noticed that on Google Maps, nice neighborhood. I wonder if the killers, while cruising along Gallatin, take side trips into the nicer neighborhoods to burglarize homes and cars parked in driveways. They happened to pass the poor woman walking her dog and struck.

Hope your brother and everyone else stays safe. If they can ID the plates on the car, they should be able to catch these guys.

Nashville on edge as police hunt 'cold-blooded' murder suspects - WXXV 25

Nashville was on edge Sunday as authorities searched for what a local police official described as a pair of “cold-blooded killers” who allegedly gunned down two people celebrating a birthday.

Authorities said the suspects in Friday’s shootings may be linked to a string of recent crimes, including four attempted robberies and the killing on Tuesday morning of 31-year-old Kendall Rice as he walked to the bus stop to go to work.
...

The spate of shootings left the city rattled. The Cobra closed its doors Saturday and held an event for friends and family of Teal and Sarrantonio, while police warned residents to remain vigilant.

“We’re obviously telling folks to be in groups, be careful, be very cognizant of your surroundings and of what’s going on,” Imhof said.

Band members speak out after East Nashville shooting

Band members told News 2 that Brandon had an especially unique styling to his music.

"He had a unique sound, he was a finger picker. He didn't use a pick, his effects that he used it'll never be duplicated." said Trent Johnston.

Members added that for now, they're focused on healing - but they do plan to continue creating music together, in Teal's honor.

so no description of the suspects yet? just a dark-colored sedan as the only clue?

Suspects may have hijacked a car on Aug 12. JMO, they may be closing in on these guys.

Police say Bellevue carjacking may be linked to murders, shooting, attempted robbery

A 26-year old driver told police he was on Highway 70 South when a dog ran out in front of him. When he stopped to check on the dog he suddenly realized there were two men standing over him. One of them had a gun.

Police say the two men robbed the victim and told him to run away. As he ran he looked back and saw the two robbers drive away in his vehicle, a Dodge Journey SUV,

The SUV was found by the Juvenile Crime Task Force last Friday afternoon in an alley in North Nashville, at 24th Ave. North and Meharry Blvd.
