Billy Turner makes brief appearance in Lorenzen Wright case, set to return Oct. 31

"Billy Turner, accused in the homicide of basketball star Lorenzen Wright, briefly returned to court Monday for a report date, but his attorney said the two sides are not yet ready to set a trial date. The judge told the parties to return to court October 31, at which time the court may set a new trial date.
Turner's defense attorney, John Keith Perry, said he's still reviewing records provided by the prosecution this summer. Prosecutor Austin Scofield said in court that his conversation with Perry about the evidence involved phone records, though Perry told reporters outside the courtroom he doesn't want to discuss the specifics of the evidence.
Turner had felony convictions dating from the early 1990s, but spent years without getting trouble until his 2017 arrest in the Wright case. At the time, Turner was serving as a church deacon and running a small landscaping business. He's been jailed ever since.
The defense lawyer spoke about how his client, now 48 years old, is doing in jail...."
