Sheriff Weaver says right now ONLY trained search and rescues workers are out. Volunteers may be needed later on in the day.
RSBM

Assuming that they want just trained people because of the sinkholes and so that no one else gets hurt ?

Clarification: Sheriff Weave says volunteers were told they wouldn't be needed until AT LEAST noon. #FindNoah #WBBJ

Possible. An earlier tweet said that some volunteers were injured yesterday, so they might want to avoid more serious injuries.

50 volunteers WILL be sent out to assist in the search! #FindNoah #WBBJ

Sounds like they're still using volunteers but in a more directed manner.

It saddens me to see this beautiful little boy hasn't been found yet. Does anyone know if sink holes in the immediate area of his disappearance were checked on the 1st day? That would of been the most logical thing I would do (imo). And why wouldn't the dogs pick up any kind of scent of him at all? As far as how far he could of gone & what LE feels he could of gone, I believe he could of went much farther. He wouldn't know not to go in those areas until it was too late (imo).

I wonder what kind of shoes he was wearing? Shoes that can slip off easily?

Although it is so cold, he might take off some of his clothing, it's a known and irrational response to hypothermia.

Quite possible that searchers will find clothing before they find him.

Ugh - I hated to "thank" your comment but sadly, you're right. If Noah hasn't had some kind of accident then hypothermia is the biggest threat to him.

UPDATE: Tom Mapes with the Madison Co. Sheriff's office says a new canine unit arrived at the search for Noah Chamberlin around 7:45 AM and they have NOT picked up a scent. Officials are still calling this a rescue operation and hoping to ‪#‎FindNoah‬.

So I would not read too much into the dogs not picking up a scent. It is not uncommon at all to have trouble with small children even with good dogs. This is for a number of reasons, they shed less skin cells which means less sent as well as the fact that it is very difficult as you can imagine to find someone who is willing to let their young child wander off alone and lay a trail for training purposes.

Does anyone know which side of two little Noah is?

My (grandbaby) turned two just last month. So, I believe if he were in this situation he would not be coordinated enough to get far, and if he fell in a pit he would cry out for a short time. However I can see him being very quiet. In fact, I wonder if he would 'hide' from voices. So my point is, like one poster said it would be great to have the parents voices to call out his name, but even things such as "Noah, mama is here or daddy is here".

Softly talking to him while using mama and daddy's name. My thought is even a young two year old will repeat mama and daddy's name, KWIM?

Closer to three their communication is much better, and they like to play games on their adults. Like hide from grandma, try to beat the rest of the party home. Wonder how many times Noah has taken this trip into that area? If not too far, he could have made it back to his home area. I don't know. Guess none of this help now after days have passed, just thoughts I have for people in that situation.

As with all of you, I could hardly wait to get on the forum for any updates.

Blessings.

I was wondering about his age as well. My granddaughter is turning two next week.
If she wandered off, when she noticed she was alone, I can see her little lower lip quivering and her whimpering, but I'm not sure if she'd start screaming.

Your comment about an older two year old playing a game and hiding struck a chord with me. I grew up in the Napa Valley where mustard flowers grow about 2 feet tall in the spring. When I was about two and a half, I remember squatting next to the house, hidden amongst the flower, while my mother called for me. I don't know exactly what my thinking was but I remember knowing that I should answer my mother. My mother screamed for a neighbor and I remember hearing "ditch." There was a ditch across the lane. There happened to be a telephone lineman up a nearby pole who spotted me and ratted me out. Our house was next to railroad tracks and just over the tracks was a busy highway. I likely wouldn't have wandered far enough to get lost, bu if it weren't for that lineman, I might have possibly ended up on the railroad tracks or on the highway.

Praying that today is the day Noah will be found.

Are they searching in all directions from the house or just into the woods? Just wondering.

At all ? They've not picked up his scent one time? Sars experts please answer this. If someone picked him up immediately and carried him off, would the dog know and follow the other person's scent ? I cannot think of any other reason why there would be no scent for a dog at all.

sarx, thank you SO much for chiming in
:loveyou:

I'm doing my best not to climb the walls over here (along with the rest of you, I would imagine). With each passing hour, the worry and concern grows and grows. I don't even want to think about nightfall

The professional SAR team has difficult terrain to deal with IMO, without the added issue of sinkholes. Coordination of the (?grid?) search must be an extremely high-pressure situation, and all I can do is send my heartfelt support to everyone involved at this most critical juncture.

Please, let them find him alive.

#FindNoah

:please:
