IMO it's unlikely a mountain lion hung around once everyone showed up after he was reported missing.

I live in Michigan, where they also used to deny mountain lion existence. They're here too and I don't know why DNR is so invested in denying them. It's important for the average person to know they could be around and take precautions, especially when you have a child with you.

I agree, michmi.. Public safety should be priority.. I asked a Game Warden a few years later why they deny the mountain lion's existence. He told me it was to prevent hunters from hunting them..
