So the dogs did have a scent and lost it at the holes ???!!! And no one looked in? Noah probably fell in, went in to roam, or went in to get warm. Very upsetting.....

Is that what they said? Ugh! The whole time they are searching, he could have been UNDER them. Surely they thought about that...anyone that's been in dense forests know there are false forest floors. This is why you dont go running through the woods like its Friday the 13th...you'll fall into a hold and break your ankles. JMO Keep me updated, Im unable to watch the presser. TY

This upsets me beyond reason, knowing the dangers of the grounds .............why would ANYONE walk around there let alone with 2 babies!........rant over sorry sitting on hands now

I don't think that's fair. We can only assume she didn't realize the dangers. If the story we have received is true, she was being an engaged grammie taking her little ones on an exploration. I can't imagine she would have gone there had she known there were issues with ground.

SUBSIDENCE AND SINKHOLES IN EAST TENNESSEE
A FIELD GUIDE TO HOLES IN THE GROUND
By Martin S. Kohl

This is an excellent guide with illustrations and clear explanations!

Wow that was a huge learning experience for me. I know idea of any of this, I was wondering if there are these holes why are they not blocked off such as in AZ all the mine openings we have but they are mostly blocked off. Now I understand, thank you for sharing this, it has so much information.
Poor little Noah :praying:

Hi everyone. Popping in for an update. Nothing huh. OMG where is he? I can't believe there is no trace of him out there. I guess finding no diaper, etc means it is still all on HIM and well, he has fallen into something! I hate to say it but yes to cadaveur dogs at this point. If he's out there, it's beyond reasonable to assume the elements aren't survivable. I think he fell but looking at this cougar attack theory...someone spotted what they thought was a cougar about an 1hr from Chester County on the 16th of Jan. Now these cats can get anywhere they want to QUICK. So, I just thought that was interesting that someone had spotted a large cat. Here is the link. https://uu.edu/forms/cougars/sightings.cfm JMO

Thanks for the link, Webweaved. I looked further down on the list of sightings and saw one in Pinson in 2009.

Own property. False sense of security and control. IF this story fits, her guard was down and she was just enjoying the day unaware of the dangers and unaware of how quick a toddler can get away from you. I would imagine she's lived on this property for years. The property records were posted in this thread. It's not what a lot of us would have done (taking small children that DEEP into the woods) but everyone thinks differently. JMO.

Glad it helped. It helped me too. We're all in this together and need as much info as possible. I had no idea that the terrain was that treacherous. One of those large stump holes may be warm and keep his scent from predators, but we need to find him. Also the handbook states East Tennessee and Noah is in Western Tennessee but I'm not sure how different the land would be.

Shame we haven't learned anything new from that brief Q&A with the authorities.

The parents must be out of their minds. So heartbreaking!

Sending lots of positives thoughts to everyone involved!

Public records state March, 2010 that the current owners have lived there.

Again IF the story is true, what is wrong with her taking the kids "deep into the woods?" Maybe I've been a horrible mom and I'm just finding out? I've taken my kids on lots of nature walks deep in the woods. Maybe it was a nice day (for winter), kids had been cooped up, take them out to burn some energy. What am I missing (assuming it's true)?

Nothing is wrong with it. It's just perceived as risky behavior. JMO.

Looks like a full video of the PC will be posted here http://www.wbbjtv.com/

The link is there as "breaking news" but it's not live yet.

In reality, you're not missing anything. What you're doing for your children is simply wonderful, just as it was for Noah's grandma. I better stop and say no more, lest I risk getting kicked off :(
