In regard to someone's earlier question about the number of sinkholes this just came up in my news feed from WMCTV:

"Edwin Grant of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children was on hand during the press conference. The center recently posted a missing child poster on their website with Noah's photo and information.

The FBI and TBI are assisting local law enforcement in the search.

Officials are recommending people do not listen to rumors on social media. They are searching many leads and do not want to follow any false leads.

"This is one of the most thorough searches I've ever seen," Grant said.

Sheriff Blair Weaver said there is still no reason to distrust the family's story. Officials said they are still searching the woods because there is no reason to believe he would be anywhere else.

He said the wooded area where Noah disappeared is filled with sink holes, which have water in them and that could possibly be how Noah vanished so quickly. "

Also from this link:

"...covered roughly 1,000 acres.... Officials do not believe Noah could have gone very far.

Noah's family is choosing not to address the media at this time and they are asking for privacy. A family friend has set up a GoFundMe account to support them."

On NG tonight, they reported that the dogs did detect a scent at the place where Noah was reported missing and they also reported that the mom went shopping and dropped the children at the grandmother's house. How they got more info than LE is giving publicly is questionable.

Ugh what a horrible thought :(

I wonder whether they have searched all sinkholes or is that an impossible task (too many)?

I was also wondering whether the area where Noah went missing is large enough so that an adult could get lost in those woods? Or would an adult easily find their way to the nearest village/street/farm etc?

That info is all over SM.

I know at one point they reported 6 searchers missing and whether it was because they were actually lost or hadn't checked back in has never been established. But it has been reported in MSM that it is an area covered in dense woods where anyone could easily get lost. I think MSM was referring to the surrounding forest area as a whole and not necessarily a particular trail.

But a reputable reporter would check facts before airing them. And I wouldn't expect them to report from SM. I just found that odd.

As far as the animals. they have more to fear from Coyote, than all the others combined. Those things are vicious and are NOT AFRAID of humans. People around here have to go out with smaller pets when they have to go potty. Coyotes are animals of opportunity, and won't hesitate to grab on to an opportunity.

ETA: I border Tenn and they have the same problems with them That Kentucky does.

If they searched in all directions radiating outwards from the point where Noah was last seen...
(and if my math is correct after a second Chardonnay :) )
the 1,000 acres would be roughly be a circle of .5 miles as a radius. Of course LE probably preferentially searched in some directions more than others, but I do believe a 2-year-old could go further than 1/2 a mile. I think a recent case on WS had a 2-y-o travelling 3/4 of a mile...

LOL because someone always wants their 5 minutes of fame. I'm sure they convinced someone to talk to her.

Sometimes reporters will reach out to family members by PM over SM, and they 'confirm' the facts that way. If a relative told them so then they might report it as confirmed.

I just had that discussion w/ my other half this evening when talking about Noah. Here in MN, they are more and more common. Not to mention, masters of opportunity that prey on the weak and defenseless. :(

I "think" not sure, lol, she had a station manager from radio maybe and he reported that....I assumed he had either heard it or talked to someone who had heard it...can't remember his stations call letters.

In Malik Drummond's case all our hinky alarms went off immediately. Same with Delano Wilson. Lonzie Barton was a no-brainer. With Jerold Williams all LE ever released was that he disappeared while chasing grasshoppers. Very frustrating but it turned out there was hink, just not about his disappearance - his group were members of the FLDS and his dad was a bigwig in the polygamy community.

In Noah's case I can't seem to get a bead on anything. I agree though that it would be better for the sheriff to share info about the deer cams, time Noah was missing before the 911 call, how far in the woods they were, etc. It really doesn't matter anyway at this point; the rumor mills have been grinding away for days now so it would be better to just get it out in the open from an official source.

Commenting without reading ahead but I just wanted to say, in all those cases, Malik, baby Delano and Lonzie, the hink was so thick from day one, it was hard not to be skeptical about the stories given to LE. I didn't follow Jerold's case so I can't comment on that. That being said, in THIS case, my hinky meter hasn't gone off at all. Maybe it's broke? Maybe it's spot on, and all we've been told is exactly as it occurred? I honestly don't know.

What I DO know is that a 2 year old baby can curl up into the most compact tiny little ball, you can even miss them in their crib, if they're under the covers. As a mom to 7 and grandma to 4 I can't even count how many times I thought one of them were out of their crib/playpen when in fact they were right there the whole time. I think of that when I imagine this precious baby out there in the woods among hollowed out stumps, leaves, fallen branches, brambles, holes, etc. It's a natural human reaction to pull your limbs in close and babies do it all the time - into the fetal position. I hate to even type this but I suspect that's how they may even find him.

moo.

We have some wimpy coyotes out here then, they'll eat bunnies but won't go near cats, dogs, or foxes.

True. I'm not sure Nancy Grace falls into the reputable reporter category though. Half of what she says is wrong or not checked. Imo

I believe NG said 105.1, but I could be wrong.

The thoughts & opinions stated above are that, MY random thoughts & opinions.

you are right about that, there was a lovely young singer last name Mitchell who was killed by a pack of coyotes, they may have been a hybrid and it was up north maybe Canada sorry I dont recall the details but yes wild animals would be a concern of mine and this sinkhole news is not setting well with me, have there been any reports of a sinkhole in that area where they were hiking ? Certainly if there was a new hole there would be evidence of that? Praying for that little tike!
