I might have missed this, but is this property Grandma's property or mom and dad's? Just wondering was she there babysitting while parents are at work or what? It makes a difference in how well she knew the property.

Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong. The property records posted in this earlier thread have GM being in the home at 2010. So she had a few good years to learn the property. She was babysitting the kids while the mother went to the store (to shop) thats the story. This was something that normally occurred with the family..leaving the kids with her while the mom did errands, etc. HTH.

Reporter interviewing a local. Take it for what it's worth, he's giving his own opinion on Noah's disappearance but you can see some views of the area - it's not where Noah went missing, it's about two miles away. The reporter is also trying to show a sinkhole for example. It's live now and should be available for watching for a while today. Cell reception's not great but IMO worth watching. Reception keeps dropping so some patience is needed.

Another reporter showing sinkholes. He says the video will be up for 24 hours.

Wow...if that's what the area behind their house looks likes....I can't see how a 2 year old could get THAT far away in that terrain in a very short amount of time.

LOL No worries I just saw the map and saw the grids and wondered if they did cross over.
So much vastness (is that a word) but there are homes and roads some farms.
How did he vanish so quickly?

I think a big factor is the color of clothing he was dressed in. And his fair hair. Once a certain distance away he would blend very easily I imagine.

Also, sharing a bad mommy moment here, but just to illustrate how quickly a little one can get far away...I had to dry my hair the other day when my little one was already up for the day. I brought by hair dryer into the living room and had flipped my head over and was drying my hair, and peeking at her every minute(I run my timer on phone so I can keep track of time). One minute she was sitting in a chair, next minute, gone. I look and the baby gate was OPEN! She had taken the dog, and was upstairs on the opposite side of the house in bed with the dog. In 60 seconds.

a strange thought just occurred to me. Probably a dumb one but I have been living this case along with you guys for days. I recall that when looking for missing Malaysian plane satellite images were used to identify areas of interest. My question is, could old satellite images be used to identify newer or suddenly larger sinkholes in the area where they are searching for Noah?Does my question even make sense?Horrible feeling the helplessness. How much worse for the family right now :(

I spent hours on Tomnod looking at tiles for MH370. That's not a bad idea at all tlcya! Would LE be open to it is the big question..

Oh my...that is SO SO sad. Imagine having to look into a tree stump or sinkhole for your child. I'd like to read his info and be able to keep up. TY for posting this. :( I hope the family doesn't have to see Noah like that...I don't want them to be the ones to see that...is that wrong? :( :( JMO

Thank you! I admit I often skip pages to see if there is any new info so I miss a lot!

This makes me feel so sad. This also reaffirms my husband's concerns in letting my 70yo parents watch our young kids. I love them and trust them, but they are not fast enough to keep up with a toddler and kindergartner..

Whoa, I didn't realize they went THAT deep! This is such a strange thing to me!

This poor man they never found this was in Tampa.

This is why they don't want family searching!

I'm starting to wonder if it was a longer period of time he was not noticed.

Those aren't what I have seen being called sinkholes. The ones in Florida, for example, look like circular holes where there are seemingly no bottoms. One wouldn't be down inside it tromping around in the water because the next step could be an enormous drop off. What he is showing is what I would call erosion or a "wash" where the ground has been displaced by ground water or even an overflow of a creek etc. Not saying it wouldn't be just as dangerous to a toddler, but it wouldn't be such they couldn't find him like the man whose bedroom fell into the sinkhole in Florida. He simply vanished and was swallowed up into the cavernous hole. They had to leave him. Sad story.

This is the guy I was talking about on the thread when the story first broke. They knew he was down there and they still couldn't retrieve him. This story was an eye opener. So sad and random. Hopefully Noah's story will have a much better ending.

Did they use thermal imaging I wonder? Little late now but I would think they would use it right away.

I don't see a new hole just opening up and "swallowing" Noah. But I could see him falling into an existing hole (sink hole or really any type of hole that you commonly see) and getting injured or stuck. Even a small hole would make him no longer be in plain sight.

At this point, I would be pretty shocked to hear he is found in plain sight. Though stranger things have happened, of course.

Yes. They had national guard helicopters per LE early on.

Yes, both in the helicopters and on the ground. They also used sonar to search water and night vision apparatus. All starting on day one. The sheriff said in one of the last press conferences (I can't remember which one) that they're using just about every technology tool available.

It isn't a dumb question at all. However, the aerial shots taken from the planes they have up could be compared to known shots from before and if not, the pilots would probably be able to spot new landmarks. The problem is the tree canopy doesn't allow a good field of vision from the air in much of the forested area. Tomnod has to specifically turn the satellite in the proper direction to capture the search areas (at least it is the way I understand it to work) so they don't have random shots of the globe to call up whenever. Boots on the ground is about the best they can do.

Hmmmm I'm gobsmacked...

I read somewhere on this thread that the parents' home was about 8.5 miles away. I know this is far fetched but is there any way this little fella came out of the woods and headed toward the direction he knew to be home? I know he's only 2 but some are very smart at that age and pay attention to lots of things like that. When I take my 2 year old nephew out walking and we start to head home he knows exactly how to get there. Of course we haven't been walking 8 miles or so either. Just wondering if they've searched the area from GM's to the parents house? That may be a dumb idea but anything is possible at this point.

That's actually a good question and I hope that they have looked in that direction. What if Noah didn't go further into the woods but turned and went the other way toward his own home?

I checked out Tomnod and don't understand how you can search for specific areas. It looks like it's just pre-defined areas that you help others search, like in the case of major disasters like fires, earthquakes, etc.
