TN TN - Rhonda Daugherty, 49, LaFollette, 2 Dec 2014 - *L. Vann guilty*

The victim of that robbery told WATE 6 On Your Side that before Vann allegedly pulled a gun on him, they talked about Daugherty’s disappearance. According to the victim, Vann said he only knew Daugherty and they had attended church together.

That's about as clear as mud ...

That's something isn't it ? The most important tie-in link so far between Vann and Rhonda, and the news media devotes a total of two whole sentences in regards to it, almost like a side note .

1) Is this conversation about Rhonda what prompted Vann to pull a gun on the robbery victim (Fields) ?

2) Did Vann bring up the fact she was missing, or did Fields ?

3) What was Vann's demeanor when he first arrived ? Did he seem anxious or hurried ?

4) How long was Vann hanging around chit-chatting and shooting the bull before the gun made it's first appearance ?

5) Did Vann seem agitated after the conversation about Rhonda's disappearance, as if Field struck a nerve in him ?

6) Vann normally drove a red pickup truck, any conversations with Field on why he was driving a rented SUV ?

7) Were the charges Vann was facing over the solicitation of a minor brought up and discussed prior to the gun making an appearance ? Was it brought up at all ?

8) Did Field get the impression that Vann knew more than he was letting on to ?

9) Is this why the TBI has refused to tie the cases together, because Vann told Fields he didn't know anything about her disappearance ? That's pretty naive' and trusting on the part of LE, if you ask me.

Most of these questions should have been asked and answered in the interview with Fields. I suspect they probably were, but for whatever reason, the news media decided not to air them.

I will say this about TBI (after years of following TN cases and chewing leather to calm my nerves), they are so frustrating to deal with. Bless them. I appreciate their efforts. But they give you nothing to work with...and they don't endear the public. At all.

I have little experience with the TBI outside of HB's case, that was enough though to form an opinion.

TBI in this case reminds me of the GBI and the Kristi Cornwell case. Her brother was so tenacious and not willing to give up; ended up finding Kristi.

The public is a valuable asset in terms of solving cases, but for some reason the TBI & GBI seem reticent to see that.

The FB page says no new updates and no new information. This case is like an empty hole....just nothing.

They are going to have to just organize search teams to go out and try to find her. She is bound to be right there within a 4 or 5 mile radius of her home. I haven't heard where Vann lived, if anybody knows that, post it and I will add it to the map.
If I lived closer, I would go out and help search myself, gotta 4 x 4 ATV sitting out there in the carport doing nothing.

As you can see by the map, that area is mostly undeveloped private land. There are a TON of creeks, streams and lake tributaries scattered all over the area. All of those isolated pockets of water need to be scoured closely. The area where the couple was robbed looks basically like an island, of sorts. Vann worked for them and would know the area pretty well, and of course it extends all the way over to the church he and Rhonda attended as well as her house. There are back-roads and dirt roads stretching all the way back into town, with raw terrain everywhere.

It's a HUGE search zone, but at least right now they have the advantage of all the vegetation either being dead or dying, which will help a lot with the visibility. I would think most of the private landowners around there would be fine with search crews at least doing a walk-through to see if they can find anything.

The whole problem of course, is that IF......IF.....Vann had something to do with her disappearance, then he had 3 whole days to conceal any evidence of a crime. You can dig and cover up a pretty deep hole in 3 days. The more isolated and hidden a parcel of land is, the more need to search in that area.

Well, today's search is over. There was a good turnout and we covered a lot of ground. We didn't find any clues to help us find Rhonda, but we will not give up! I just want to thank all the volunteers who came, the local law enforcement, fire and rescue, Coolidge Baptist church, and several other police departments. Please don't loose hope! And PLEASE don't stop praying for Rhonda and her family! They need us now more than ever!

This.. I was holding my breath that when they found Vann that they would find her alive and well however it appears that she has still not been found. (I was assuming from the rumors going around that he had kidnapped her.) This is in my neck of the woods and I can understand everyone's frustration with the lack of news because it is frustrating for the locals as well. A big thanks to all of you wonderful sleuths who care so deeply!

My thoughts and prayers are with her, her family and all those who love her.

Please Lord let Rhonda be safe and bring her home to her family! lease:

Vann is smart enough to lawyer-up the minute he can. I just hope the TBI has some tactic they can use to try and get him to cooperate prior to that. Surely they would have had some plan in place in order to interrogate him once he was found.

He was arrested, not just detained, so all of his Miranda rights will be in place now.

It's probably going to turn out that the DA will have to make some kind of a sweetheart deal with him if he will tell what he knows about Rhonda's disappearance. It will make a lot of people mad, but it may turn out to be the only way to get the truth out of him and possibly find out what happened to her. Of course, that is all pending on whether they are able to locate her during all of these searches or not.

If he refuses to talk or claims to know nothing, they will hit him with the maximum penalty allowable on all the current charges, and probably lock him up for about 30 years.

Maybe his family can guilt him in doing the right thing as well.
