The smoke shop worker revealed he see's multiple people falling to the groud outside the store 'because of drinking' on a daily basis so he didn't thnk to call for help.

An empoyee from a Nashville smoke shop said he spotted Riley Strain stumbling past his store on the night he went missing, before breaking down in tears while telling the news to the student's mom.

Can anyone see any way Riley could still be alive (7 days now)? Could he be trapped, unconscious somewhere, kidnapped, etc. What is taking so long for phone records? Nashville bars are notorious for "bouncing" people out for a ton of reasons, but I think it's more than likely worse because it has only grown as a tourist town.

When I visited Nashville, I noticed that a good number of tourists on the entertainment strip seemed to be well heeled middle aged visitors out for a good time. The atmosphere in the bars and on the streets was fun, but also in control.

This sought after demographic (people who have money to spend on pricey meals and hotels) probably also contributes to Nashville bar boot out policies.

In the end, it would not take much of a "nearly anything goes- anywhere, at any time" atmosphere to drive this sought after spending demographic- and their cash, away.

Thus.... Nashville's bars boot anybody starting to go "spring break" fast.

My family and friends drink, as do I, and we are very familiar with bar etiquette and the removal of overly intoxicated patrons. The bar is trying to get the person off their property.

I have witnessed a drunk young woman who had slipped on the dance floor and split her chin open being escorted out a back door and into an alley. I encountered her trying to get back in the front entrance to let her boyfriend know she needed help - they would not allow her in so I helped find him. It was late at night, she was injured and was led to a dark alley and left by herself. It makes no sense to handle something this way. If anything it invites liability.

That said, based on what I’ve read about this case I don’t see anything unusual or egregious in the way Riley and his friends were treated. It is unfortunate that they became separated, but alcohol seems to be the culprit here.

I think they shoo people out the back door to keep up appearances that it's a fun place to be, they don't want potential patrons to see people tossed out, or banged up.

Nor do they want to attract the kind of patrons who think people getting banged up and /or tossed for various reasons contributes to an exciting night out.

Bars, and entire entertainment districts, can fail fast based on an impression, or actual fact, that they are no longer safe. This costs, jobs, revenues, and businesses.

Aside from abduction or deciding to start a new life, the only plausible explanation I can think of for him still being alive is perhaps he is concussed and has amnesia. Even then, I don't know how he would survive this many days without someone assisting him.

Sadly, I think he's deceased. Would love to be wrong, though.

No, not under these circumstances. Great news at this point would be them finding his body.

That’s how you pretty much know it’s a legitimate sighting. Gangly and blonde, just like Larry.

I can't think of a single case where a fellow missing and intoxicated after being in a bar, near water, was found safely after a week, let alone after 3 or 4 days. There have been many.

Looks to be an abandon building per Google Maps street view. Unfortunately, my screen capture is too large to upload and I don't have any photo editing software currently. The address is 414 Gay St.

OMG I just now heard about this. Riley is the grandson of a friend of mine. We quilt together at retreats. His grandmother lives in Missouri and I live in Kansas. His grandmother is the sweetest person I know. Big prayers for the family!

On street view, it looks like a fenced off old dilapidated building. Based on signs around it, I think it's owned by the municipality.

Taking a street walk on Google, there are plenty cameras in that area, specifically all over the building behind it, which is Davidson County Community Corrections.

Right next to the corrections building is Ben West Municipal building, which is their courthouse. Again, lots of cameras visible all around the building.
