GUILTY TN - Rose Goggins, 21, Waynesboro, 14 January 2010

<snip>

Sources said the Beersdorfs have implicated themselves in the murder.

According to an affidavit released to NewsChannel 5 investigators got a tip from an inmate who knew Goggins and the Beersdorfs.

He told police that Sylvia and Goggins had loud and hostile arguments, and that Sylviva had asked him if he "knew anyone who could get rid" of her.

He also told police that Steven offered him a $1,000 to kidnap Goggins.

What an evil woman :furious:

How do humans arrive at such a brutal senseless 'solution' to a 'problem'?

Steven Beersdorf Sr and Sylvia Beersdorf changed their NG pleas to Guilty and were sentenced.

He gets life in prison for first-degree murder.
She made a deal for 15 years for conspiracy to commit murder.

15 years after soliciting and encouraging the death of another. Wow! Not much at all. I hope it is a hard, hard 15 years.

This story says she helped plan what to do... the how to, plus it was said at the beginning of the case that she is the one who wanted Rose dead.

Ironic that Steven Sr will be in prison for murder as was his own father.

Rose's murder was just so savage. And senseless.
I hope they never get to see the little boy EVER. But they probably will, their son has custody. The same son who beat Rose up less than a year before she was murdered by his parents.

Couple plead guilty in death
By Tom Smith

A Wayne County man and his wife are preparing to be transported to state prisons after they pleaded guilty to killing their grandson's mother, officials said.

Steven Ray Beersdorf Sr., 47, and Sylvia Beersdorf, 44, entered guilty pleas in Wayne County Circuit Court on Wednesday, according to Mike Bottoms, district attorney general for the 22nd Judicial District. The district includes Wayne and Lawrence counties.

The couple were accused of killing Rose Goggins, 21, who lived with them at their home in the Beech Creek community, which is between Waynesboro and Clifton. Goggins was engaged to the Beersdorf's son, who was going through military training with the Tennessee National Guard at Camp Shelby, Miss., at the time of her death.

The Beersdorfs were indicted on first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder charges.

Bottoms said Steven Beersdorf pleaded guilty to both charges and was sentenced to life in prison Court officials said Steven Beersdorf will be 99 years old when he becomes eligible for parole.

Poor Rose. :( People have compared her case with that of Summer Inman, whose in law put her into a septic tank.

I wonder if anyone has Rose's date of birth, her name was Rose Goggin, but I cannot find it even on Find a Grave.

It's like she never was, when I can't see the 21 year old's life in the entirety of birth to death.
So sad.......

I did see her grandmother and a friend and aunt interviewed however on the TV segment they did on this case. So we know she did have a loving family who cared about her as well a neighbor she confided in, who said she was scared to death of these people she lived with.

Leomoon80,

Rose's Memorial Service was actually 3 years ago today.

I know that there is an episode of the "Wicked Attraction" series on Investigation Discovery Network that will be about the murder of Rose.

Her name was Rose Mary Marie Goggins. I don't see a birthdate for her either, but she was 21 when she was murdered.

I have a Case Archive, one of the first I did (when I was new at this and learned as I went)
Here: http://s296.photobucket.com/albums/mm166/crankycrankerson/Rose Goggins -TN-/

I found a couple more old articles when I went looking around, so I will add those asap.

Thanks Amanda, looks like I had found that Cranky Photo archive too last night....
Still searching for her memorial obituary however.

Thanks for looking :)

Yes I did see that Investigation TV show, it was a shocker. :(

I am watching the Wicked Attraction show about Rose's murder right now. Poor Rose, when she was 9, their home burned down and her father died. So much tragedy...

Also, I was surprised to hear that her boyfriend (the monsters' son) was a sheriff's deputy when they met two years prior to her murder.

I'll have to check that one out.

I had no idea, of the Fire or her dad, nor the deputy position, so perhaps I came in late to the same show I saw.....and missed all that background.
What I recalled was the son of these people,,.....and father of her baby, wanted her to live there with them while he was gone to the Military, (supposed to be in Iraq soon)

They appeared to be, (from the TV segment depicted) a loving couple with each other, and I wondered afterward, if he is bothering any longer with these parents in his life. Although both in prison currently, the mother did not get as long as his father did. She will be out while the child is a teen or young adult.

The show depicted hiim as shocked......and could not believe it when he heard they harmed his love., i.e. Rose Goggins.

I think I either read or heard he has their little boy, but I don't know who really has custody of a follow up in this tragedy of horrors.

The show depicted the son as a drinker with an anger problem (coupled with the fact he came from a violent background) and that Rose reported domestic violence to LE prior to all of this. That's what really sent his parents into a rage...how dare her, KWIM? The show even said she moved out to her own apartment after this incident. But the son shows back up after a while promising he'd cut down on drinking, be nicer, blah blah blah. So she takes him back, eventually moving back in and you know the rest. The son's LE supervisor also said he was not manageable.

I found it interesting it was stated in the show that the parents waited until their son left for training to kill her so he wouldn't be a suspect. It leaves me wondering if the son was aware this was going to or could happen.

It's a horrible horrible fate that Rose met. She went through hell.

ETA: Also of note, Rose felt nothing would be done about the DV because he was in LE, according to the show.

I would suppose then, in light of it all, he would give the grandparents access to Rose's little boy.
