Nashville police investigating 'intentional' Christmas morning vehicle explosion (nbcnews.com)

The 6:30 a.m. explosion sent three people to hospitals with non-critical injuries.

Local and federal authorities are investigating a vehicle explosion in downtown Nashville that police characterized as an "intentional act."

The explosion, which shattered the city's Christmas morning quiet, forcing evacuations, occurred at 6:30 a.m. CT Friday in the center of the city’s business district, according to a police Twitter account. Smoke and fire could be seen from the area surrounding the explosion, just across the Cumberland river from the Tennessee Titans' Nissan Stadium and half a mile from the state Capitol...

Rudolph phoned a warning in Atlanta. I guess they wanted responders there when it went off.

Yes, if someone was targeted for injury it seems it would be first responders. :(

This family so very thankful police officers evacuated their building before explosion!

And, another first-hand account of explosion. 'Seems there was a recorded warning, followed by a countdown. However, the explosion didn't occur until several minutes after expected "warned" timing.

It's affecting ATT phone and internet services across the area now, even some towns' 911 services.

''(CNN)A Christmas morning explosion that rocked downtown Nashville, injuring at least three people and damaging dozens of buildings, is believed to be an intentional act, authorities said.

According to police, officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department were responding to a call of shots fired around 5:30 a.m. CT Friday when they came upon an RV parked in front of an AT&T transmission building at 166 2nd Avenue North.
The RV was playing a recorded message that indicated a bomb would explode in 15 minutes
, Metro Nashville Police Chief John Drake said during a news conference Friday.
Officers saw no immediate evidence of shots fired but they requested the department's hazardous devices unit and started to evacuate neighborhood residents, police said.
The bomb squad was responding when the RV exploded at 6:30 a.m. CT, police spokesman Don Aaron said.''

''There were no known credible threats in the Nashville area that would have signaled an impending attack on or before Christmas, a federal law enforcement source told CNN.
A second law enforcement source said federal authorities are not aware of any increased chatter nationally by known extremist groups that would indicate any credible plans for conducting attacks around the holidays''.

Oh no, people could be hurt and not able to call for help. Horrible!

UNLESS THE RECORDING MENTIONED BY WITNESSES CAN BE LINKED TO AN MSM SOURCE IT CANNOT BE POSTED HERE YET.

Did I hear correctly on CNN that this AT&T building is the tallest building in the state? It doesn’t look like it, but I swear I heard that.

eta They corrected themselves, it was not in front of the largest building in the state (which is an AT&T building)

Is this acceptable?

The AT&T tower is the tallest building in the state but this is a transmission building so they were mistaken

Parked RV carried message it would explode before blast: Nashville police
''Surveillance video published on a Twitter account Friday that appeared to be recorded from across the street captured an audio recording that included the warning, “... if you can hear this message, evacuate now.”
''Some police agencies are reporting that their 911 systems are down due to the AT&T outage.
“Murfreesboro's 911 lines are currently down. AT&T is experiencing an outage. Please call 615-893-1311 until further notice,” the Murfreesboro police department tweeted.''

'Buck McCoy, who lives near the area, posted videos on Facebook that show water pouring down the ceiling of his home. Alarms blare in the background and cries of people in great distress ring in the background. A fire is visible in the street outside.
McCoy says he says he heard gun fire 15 minutes before the explosion rocked his building. McCoy said the windows of his home were entirely blown out''.

I'm still curious about the gunshots (prior to the explosion) that were heard by at least one witness. Were they related to the explosion or a separate incident?

If part of the ill intent was to hurt first responders, maybe the gunshots were to lure the police etc to that area before the explosion.
