The video just released shows the explosion, I don’t know how to link from this pad but I think it’s a propane based bomb. Jmo.

I’m beginning to wonder if his motive isn’t much closer to home than ATT. With so many recent deaths in his family, including pets that he loved, he may have been on the very bottom from a psychological perspective. How close was he with the brother and did he witness his death? Same with his father? I’m just thinking this could make him hate his world and everything in it.
He was 63 years old. When I was that age, I had lost both parents, a brother, a child and many dogs. You kind of expect that as you age and although you grieve, you do not rage at the world because of it.

Was there more surveillance video of the RV that led LE to DQW being a POI? How was the vehicle ID number obtained... some odd remnant of the explosion? How did they so quickly identify DQW and hustle to obtain a DNA sample from his family member??

(Interesting how many initialisms/acronyms we often use here ;))

We're not allowed to sleuth family members, but I believe his mother lives in the Nashville area. LE had to find his next of kin; once they figured out he was the RV owner, they probably visited her and obtained a DNA sample.

ETA: Per CNN-linked article:

Investigators were able to match DNA samples to Warner quickly because they were able to collect DNA from family members, Korneski said.

What makes you believe he raged at anybody?

Yeah, I've wondered whether this guy just couldn't cope with his life anymore, especially when I heard he lost his brother fairly recently. But his mother and a sister are still alive. All speculation but such a mystery. Sounds to me like a very sad family. I feel terribly for the family members and others he left behind to deal with this mess. JMO

Adding COVID into the mix may have been the trigger.

What an angle!

I hope @PingTheRouter is still around... I wanna know more about pressure waves that often appear before explosions. I guess that sort of thing can only been seen from a distance??

You know, I'm unsure whether that white vehicle on the left is the RV. The top part looks higher than AQW's RV. Also, was the RV parked on the side of the AT&T building, or across from it? In this video the row of buildings across from that white vehicle are not the height of the AT&T building...you can see the sky.
Trying to this figure out.

But people don’t always accept things and move on the same way, like with divorce. Some can keep stuff in their heads until it gets the best of their judgement. Some will turn to drugs or alcohol. I’ve personally known folks that let a sudden loss just mentally beat them down.

My understanding is that it was parked in front of the AT&T building. From NYT: "The police released a photograph of the R.V., saying it was driven to the curb in front of an AT&T transmission building on Second Avenue North in Nashville at 1:22 a.m. on Friday. The image shows the vehicle moving through downtown with its headlights on, the white camper illuminated by streetlights and glowing storefronts."

Yes

"A law enforcement source told CBS News that investigators obtained a DNA sample from Warner's mother to be matched with human remains recovered from the scene."

Oh, thanks! So the AT&T building is on the left side of this new video. Maybe that white vehicle is the RV after all.....top part optical illusion or lighting causing it to look bulkier.

You're welcome! I think so. Not sure but it does look like that is the case.

Interesting that the above-linked NYT article indicates AQW may have had cancer:

Investigators found that Mr. Warner had recently given away a car he owned and told someone close to him that he had cancer, the official said, though it was not clear whether he truly did have cancer.

My apologies if this has already been posted. It gives the most detailed portrait of AQW that I've read so far.

Authorities identify Nashville bomber, say his remains were found in wreckage
From the Seattle Times article in the quoted post:

Nashville Mayor John Cooper during a CBS News interview referred to the area affected by the explosion as “part of our historic identity of Nashville, this kind of late Victorian streetscape that ended up being bombed.”

“The businesses there, they’ve just – going through covid, they’ve had the worst nine months that you could have as a business,” said Cooper, a Democrat. “And then now to be affected by a bombing.”

I always thought of the song “Downtown” as an homage and as I read the above quote I had the fleeting thought perhaps the bomber thought he was saving small business owners by making it possible for them to collect insurance payments rather than go broke.

It’s ridiculous of course. But kind of fits with the odd song choice and efforts to warn/evacuate. I wonder if he had an a fondness for that part of town or a particular small business on that strip of road.

Just a random thought as I struggle to make sense of it.

A cancer diagnosis could certainly cause a person to just say "screw it" and act on their worst ideas.

What makes you believe he raged at anybody?

MHO is that the planting of a deliberate explosion on a city street that would take out numerous structures, businesses, people’s livelihoods, and possible lives, is an act of rage. Against whom specifically is the question, but society in general seems to be a given. That was a broad path of destruction.

Anthony Warner identified as lone bomber in Nashville explosion: Feds

Schmoldt said while the RV had been parked outside the home for years, a couple weeks ago, Warner built a gate in the fence and drove the RV into his yard.

Warner received packages frequently, his neighbor said, and in the past year installed a mailbox. Previously, Warner used a post office box to receive his mail but then began receiving packages at home, Douglas said.

Right. Tracking down a family member doesn't seem to be as difficult as ID'ing the driver. They sure moved mighty fast in finding a VIN # (from an RV part possibly in a tree) and identifying the owner of the vehicle.
