“The girl later talked about killing herself. He told her not to.

Rogers suggested she run away to a friend's. But she said that wouldn't work.

"My friends will eventually rat me out to the cops," she messaged.

She also told Rogers that Pruitt at some point had shot her dog, skinned it and left it on the farm property. He carried and used guns, court records state.“

Okay, so that's where MO came into play? So SLP's "Knight", actually did GOOD! I'm gobsmacked!

Also at the link: they had plotted to mail out the video, sound recording, and pictures as soon as she was safely in Wisconsin, which they did. He also got her a burner phone to stay in contact with family to let them know she was safe but that would not give away her location.

This strongly suggests that SLP was not sexually abused while with SLP.

ETA- IMO, BR convincing SLP to make a video was not sexual in nature- an attempt to obtain an underage porn/rape video. You just don't do that and then send the same video to the FBI. What was BR's exit plan on this? Looked at as a savior? Very strange choices that he made.

Another thing to consider, and I will eat these words if it's ever revealed he SA'd SP, is that yes he had the video saved but there's no information released that he watched it more than once, distributed it, sold it, etc. He could have watched 30 seconds of it, threw up, and got in his car to go get her. We really dont know.

The only thing we know is that he exercised very poor judgment of how he handled the situation.

I am NOT defending him by any means. It's just that we dont know what happened.

Just to add on here, I absolutely agree he did commit crimes. There is no arguing that.

I have just held on to some hope that those crimes were not to further abuse her. I know that's wishful thinking and naive.

I did read in rumor land that she had contacted her family and told them not to look for her or she would turn them in.
THAT might not have been exactly true, but it is dang close!
Also, what the dad did to her dog, I'm sure he threatened to harm her siblings if she ever told anyone or police.
That is one brave girl!
I am also beginning to believe some news outlets "created" some of this story to suit them. It sounds like the TRUTH will come out.

They drove to St. Louis to mail the package to the FBI there, records state. It was mailed Jan. 27 or 28.

"The SD card also contained a video that (the teen) made using a burner phone -- the purpose of which was to assure her family that she was alive and well," the lawyers state.

They didn't know if the FBI got the package or what they did with it. In the meantime, Pruitt was arrested and charged with rape in Tennessee.



Remember, this is from a court filing from his attorney....so why did he lie when the FBI came to his house at 4:00, and when authorities came back at 8:00 SP was found hiding in the closet?

Your guess is better than any I had. However, due to circumstances as we know now..... Community service for the transport & harboring? Nothing for the (ugh) insisting on the evidence? How do you charge the (apparent) good guy in this?

I want to read the full report but this new information is really uplifting. I had a hunch and I still stand by that he did technically commit crimes...but I think he didn't hurt her.

I know a couple of very intelligent, somewhat anti-social, living in mom's basement guys that wouldn't hurt a fly. I also don't think they would handle a situation like that totally correctly either so I was hopeful that this was the same situation with BR.

I have no idea... but if what was in that report is the truth, they did go to LE almost immediately...just not in person.
But he still encouraged the video thing and took her over state lines. I would not want to be the person making the decision on his punishment. That is for sure.

It sounds like the FBI showed up and had no knowledge about the SD they sent.
IMO he was still in protective mode for her.
It sounds clear that it was sent now.
Which is what he should have done. I can't blame her for not trusting local LE. I feel certain that her adopted dad would have killed her had she been returned to the home!

So, if she went willingly with him over state lines and there was no SA intent and in fact it was to keep her safe and they did deliver the proof to the FBI can the charge of taking her over state lines for sexual purposes even be made?

Question: Does this mean mom and dad lied about the second phone? That it was BR who gave her the second phone and they knew about it because she called them on it? Does that mean they misled the officers that were searching for her because they had had contact with her?
