Thank you so much.

"There is no evidence that Bryan Rogers attempted to distribute the recording that KV sent him to anyone other than the FBI."

Still reading, but here is an I O U :)
MOO

I had a feeling you might have liked that.

My interpretation of the article is that the video assuring her family that she’s alive & well was sent to the FBI—with the idea that the FBI can pass along whatever info they want.

That actually seems smart to me. The FBI knows why she’s run away, and can reassure or put pressure on various family members as they see fit.

Can we even imagine the reaction of the person at the FBI, opening SLP's package? I would almost compare it to the 9-1-1 call with JC being found. "Hey boss, that missing girl from TN just sent us a ton of evidence!"

Has LE released a statement or is the only information we have right now coming from BDR and his lawyer?

I truly hope that SP was not further victimized by BDR but if all we have is his statement that really isn’t proof that she wasn’t. Hoping that SP was indeed safe during that time as BDR states.

We've said earlier not to get too too excited because the updates are coming from BDR filed documents. I think the relief came from the fact he got her to the FBI so the hope was he was NOT abusing her or holding her prisoner.

LE may still have a different opinion.

And he did break laws.

So we will have to wait until tomorrow to see how the DA responds. They are on the docket for the late afternoon .

Here is the court doc that was filed today. If you read the WHOLE thing and especially the last pages it explains a lot of the questions about what laws may or may not have been violated. It's not very graphic, it references things we already knew but really talks about what happened.

P.S you all owe me $3.00 for the doc. LOL JK

Thank you. This is a must read. Written by a defense lawyer, but there are facts and reasonable defense interpretation of those facts.

Check is in the mail.

From pg 32:

At the initial appearance the government indicated that it intends to present evidence to the Grand Jury of an additional violation—a violation of 18 U.S. Code § 2423. 6 This offense seeks to punish interstate travel for the purpose of unlawful sexual activity. Rogers does not know whether the government will offer evidence regarding this possible charge at the preliminary hearing. In the event evidence or argument relating to the charge is offered, he points out that he believes that the evidence will show that his travel was not motivated by sexual exploitation. Rather, his intent when he crossed state lines was to save KV from further sexual exploitation; that intent does not prove the commission of a violation of 18 U.S. Code § 2423. Again, Roger’s motive in transporting KV shows that this is not a mill-run case. And his arguments against (or mitigating) a violation of § 2423 mirror those previously made.

When you read a fuller version of those communications he did encourage other options as well, including her going directly to a hospital after the next rape for a rape kit to be done and running away to a friend’s house.

Right! And that original CC painted BR to be a heartless cretin imo. There was no indication that he was pleading with SLP not to harm herself. No indication they were trying to formulate a working plan to safely remove SLP from a truly deadly situation. Perplexing puts it mildly.

So he was at work when they came back the house later and found SP in the closet, then arrested him at work according to this.

Rogers' lawyer paints picture of man trying to help desperate girl
Berghahn says, in the memorandum, that the girl initially attempted to make an audio recording of what Pruitt was allegedly doing but she is unable to get him to admit to the assaults, though he can be heard referring to their “encounters.”

Berghahn does state that Pruitt can be heard saying he will no longer force himself on her if she leaves with someone else.

The memorandum says Rogers and the girl continued to discuss what was happening and she told him Pruitt had allegedly forbidden her to take birth control because he wanted to impregnate her.

Berghahn put the same email/messenger conversations in the memorandum that the FBI used in its affidavit, but he included parts the government left out, the attorney contends.

The conversations not included in the FBI affidavit contend Rogers encouraged the girl to go to the hospital and get a rape test done.

Feeling a bit better about this guy's intentions after reading the docs.

Sorry but I'm still having trouble with the "Good Samaritan" depiction from the defense. If Rogers had the sense to create a complete package, including a SD card to send to the FBI then why didn't he follow up after he mailed it? Why did he then instead lie to LE? Why did he claim it was too blurry to see?

Remember, this is a 31 year old man, not another teen. I cannot reconcile that he appeared to think logically through some parts of the plan but not others. If he felt he would be in trouble (rightfully so) then why lie to LE? What did he think would happen? It's just not computing with me. And again, why not contact Round Rock LE? Why only the FBI? MOO.

I am trying to stay open-minded though, depending on further information. I'd rather be wrong and eat crow than know that SLP was in the hands of yet another predator. MOO.

Good questions, but we know he knew they weren't too blurry to see because he sent them to the FBI. Maybe he was just scared sh**less, didn't know what to do and was lying about anything and everything???

Perplexing indeed...but probably be even more so tomorrow when (if) we hear the DA's response.

Right!

That's why I was suspicious of a (possibly over-zealous) DA and the statement of possible intent to file the additional charge of
18 U.S. Code § 2423 Transportation With Intent To Engage in Criminal Sexual Activity without admission of a nefarious motive (which only BDR could provide) or evidence of SA. Some of us figured out that the CC quoting their communication was not a complete compilation of said communication. It was an attempt to put out their side in the best light, which is manipulative IMO.

Tomorrow will be interesting, to say the least.
