I'm quite concerned for SP. Not only was she living a nightmare with her parents, but she was then manipulated and exploited by another perv.
She had written she was suicidal. This is very concerning. Although she has now truly been rescued, this is an awful lot for a 14 year old to deal with. Nothing is any of her fault but it's still an enormous amount on her plate. She has siblings that are now safe too because of her. But all of their lives are in such turmoil I wonder how she's handling all of it. Plus it's all over the media! So much for a child. jmo

I am not buying that CP knew nothing for 12 years about her daughter's molestation. But I don't believe that CP was evil, uncaring or intentionally cruel. I believe she was as terrorized, trapped and beaten down as her daughter. RP isolated her out there on that farm as effectively as he did SP. She didn't work and it isn't clear if she had a car or a means of transportation. She was totally dependent on RP . I wonder what is taken into consideration in charging her with knowing what was going on and not reporting it. I seems that charging her could have been down by now.

The thing that bothers me about the letter is how much of it is her own thoughts and how much of it was coached for her to write.

This is new to me - I'm glad he followed through with that part at least. And clearly, the Judge knows he can seal documents so let's hope on a go forward basis some of this is kept out of the media. JMO and thank you for finding this - it has bothered me a lot that this was a ruse.

I thought she seemed a little frightened, a little defensive, but I thought she knew why SP was gone. moo

I would hope not and I do not think he would have become another JP. However, we really know nothing at this point so who can say? He at the very least let/allowed her to send in her evidence, she clearly was not stopped from doing so and that says a lot to me... No one wishing to never have her found nor the adoptive dad arrested would have wanted that nor helped with it imo. I do however, have my mind open to revise that opinion depending on what we learn with further facts...

He let SP turn in her evidence with no trace to where it came from. They still had no idea where they were.

He really did cover up most of his tracks. He drove to St. Louis, so as not to be too close to home.

They only tracked them down because of FBI agents acting on the digital evidence (presumably from the email she sent him) With that awful rape tape.

I know, it has taken further opening of my eyes on his guilt. And further facts will help us all see the overall case.

I am surprised that the assistant DA prosecuting this case put that piece of information of probable recent sexual activity out in the public domain, based on the opinion of the nurse doing the exam. Where in the world is HIPPA and SP's rights to privacy as a victim and a minor.

It's sad. But when it becomes evidence that trumps HIPAA. We read about the medical results and conditions of abuse survivors and victims quite often.

I think the U.K. has a system that protects children's privacy much more but the downside is that perpetrators are also protected there by the system due to trying to protect the victim's privacy. One is a result of the other and many people complain about that over there. .

I'm trying to catch up on everything I missed and now I wish I wouldn't have. I am so sad to know she left the horror of being with one child predator only to be picked-up by another predator. Makes me sick. I was so hoping he was just trying to be a good human being and save her. Poor girl has had so many horrible things happen to her in her young life. I pray she can find some sort of happiness later on in her life. I'm getting ready to eat crow since I was WRONG about him being a good person trying to remove her from a bad situation. I guess I need to stop trying to see the good in people because my judgement is terrible.

Exactly how I feel..I couldn't have worded my feelings so well. My heart is breaking for this poor girl. I hope she can heal and find peace, joy and happiness someday. She sooo deserves that.

She begged him not to "make" her record the rape. Many times. Then she finally complied.

Why did he ask her this? The easy thought was because it turned him on to see underage sex or rape. I doubt it.

IMO, this BDR's method to gain full control and power over SLP. Once he knew he had this, he went to get her.

Well, I wouldn't call it underage sex. It was rape. And I think he was quite excited to see her being raped. And knowing she was a victim made him see her as easy prey, IMO. But indeed having the the video probably did make him feel a sense of power and control over her.

Different cases in different jurisdictions (state and federal) operating at different stages. We could also see a gag order in the federal case.

But a gag order should not be confused with stealing a case. The gag order just means that the attorneys cannot discuss it before trial. The evidence still remains fair game for public perusal once it begins to be released in criminal complaints, at preliminary hearings, and during trial.

There was one photo in particular that raised the hair on my neck when we only knew that SP was missing. It was of her and RP ( I think it was on his FB page, not sure). It looks like a selfie, perhaps in a barn. SP is resting her head on his shoulder. There was just something about his slightly sweaty face and his gaze that instantly made me think he was a predator. And "something" had happened just before that photo was taken. There is unease in her face. And he posted it out of control over SP. Now we know it's very unlikely that she would ever look genuinely happy or relaxed in a photo with him. You can see it in her eyes in this photo. Jmo.

The same. I got the impression she was angry at SP for causing her distress, if you will.

If this has been happening since she was 2 years old, as mentioned in the communication between SP and BR, then I would imagine she has told her mother in many different ways thru the years. Young children will act out and be inappropriate about sexual matters way before they should know these things. Plus we have SP actually telling her mother RP was SA her and her mother didn't believe her. My personal opinion is that her mother must have known all along or be living under a rock. moo
