Why do you wonder if she has been recording all along? That would seem smart to me. She was allegedly abused by her brother and her parents didn’t believe her… I would also record everything in case he threatened me or mentioned something about SA or Summer that could be helpful. JMO.

I guess it depends on the nature of the calls. If they were made in good faith, then I don't see recording them secretly as being appropriate.

Sadly, with Summer missing and the Wells boys taken out of the home don't CW and DW have lots of time to focus on ways to find their daughter. According to CM six women have filed SA reports with LE. Why hasn’t DW been arrested? How does he talk his way out of that? It’s criminal. I’m just sick over this case.

Just thinking it may happen if he tries to pre-empt CM’s next broadcast…..But I do hope for some sanity in this case, for dear Summer!!!!

I think her recording of the actual call shows that there was no good faith on the other side. She has not released phone calls to my knowledge outside of this one, so why shouldn’t she record them for her safety or for LE?

Well, just saying that if I get calls at midnight with my SIL screaming and sobbing about cops whisking my bro away to some federal institution in a far away state, drug cartels, Mexican mafias, and claiming that my brother is being killed, yeah, I'd switch the recorder on. It would be a travesty NOT to record.

What if it hadn't been a hoax? Recording details of yet another member of CW's family to "go missing" would be essential to document. (Sister, daughter, and husband had the last disappearance not been a fraud and deception.).

I don't know many people who have things set up to "switch the recorder on" at midnight unless they are famiiar with how to do this and have used it before, including recently.

The question of recording the calls was asked CM responded because she has a missing Niece so maybe it’s allowed under these circumstances during the investigation.

I don't know what I heard- but it was truly unsettling.
SOMETHING is wrong.
If it is proven that this was some kind of prank - have at it...but until then, please can we just have some concern for what sounds like a complete breakdown???

Thank you for this. We all want the person responsible for disappearing Summer caught and justice served. What if someone is sitting back enjoying DW take the heat for Summer's disappearance? DW need to stand trial for his actions, SA allegations have been made. Let him answer to those, and LE continue to investigate Summer.

Why does it matter how M recorded the call? I honestly don’t understand. If someone called her confessing to murder, and the call was legally recorded, why would it matter why she chose to record it? JMO.

Re recording calls.

Briefly:

I was a victim of a DV relationship a couple of years ago. It took me awhile to break away. I was still getting violent abusive calls. A friend of mine who is also a Police officer advised me to record all incoming calls no matter whom was calling. I did. i answered calls (Plural) and it was from xyz, i told xyz that i'm recorded their calls. Xyz said £"%$$ (and much more) you liar. Anyway, i contacted my friend who sent out a DV specialist officer who was familiar with my case through my log numbers. He downloaded the calls and xyz was sent to court again for breaching the bail specifications and received a custodial sentence. So i can understand why, Mary, imo recorded the call.

You don't even have to switch anything on. I have an app on my phone that allows me to record calls. I can set it to record only calls from certain numbers and it automatically engages when they call me or I call them.

I would definitely be recording all calls from the people involved for my own protection and concern for Summer.

M said she called CW in the morning, she said DW was still missing. M didn’t feel it was a good idea to play that audio. I wonder what could have been said.

Wasn’t DW calling Jeanie and saying “sorry” at one stage after the allegations surfaced ???? And then attempting to make light of the events in subsequent interviews????

Perhaps they have all been told to record phone calls as possibly a “sorry” can be used to establish or imply guilt in a court???

IF the court accepts DW’s interviews on YT then he has admitted it already….

So why are her parents creating such needless drama when they could be organising search parties and fundraising efforts?

It sounds as if Candus, at minimum, has never heard the advice about "alcohol/drugs have no place in a crisis situation"; because then your focus is not on fixing the situation.

Now, surprise surprise, IF true, it seems as if Candus has now done nothing other than exacerbate the already present crisis situation, based upon "things that seemed like a genius idea [at the time aka] when drunk".

With all the bells and whistles of newer phones, why shouldn't recording be simple. I guess I'll look into it on my flip phone in case I start getting prank kidnapping calls at midnight from a sobbing incoherent lady babbling about killing, drug cartels, abduction of her husband by cops. Or at least have a little recorder ready for those routine midnight calls should they begin to occur.

I often record phone calls with clients to make sure I'm getting down exactly what they need me to do for the project, but I just put them on speaker phone and use the voice recorder on my laptop. It makes more sense that M has an app on her phone to automatically record calls since this call was around midnight and the entire thing was recorded. I don't know if she knew already that it was legal, but recording conversations with these two ticking time bombs is wise because anybody associated with them could be betrayed by them or implicated at any moment, IMO! I'd want evidence of every single interaction.

TBI can tell the difference between a spoofed call and a real call from CW's phone. A spoof call just changes what shows up on the screen, when someone receives the call. I received a spoof call from my same exact phone number.

LOL, my parents did too, on their SUV console while I was riding down the road with them. "Well, this is cute," said my mother, considering everyone who was currently either permanently or temporarily residing at the location of the landline, was also in the SUV at the time. Personally, I get a lot of cell phone junk calls with the first 6 digits (including area code) of mine, and I have no idea what type of a bonus/lure that is supposed to provide...
