I wonder who is paying for the lawyer(s).

amateur opinion and speculation

I'm wondering the same.
Haven't followed this case very closely after the first month or so but saw that Don was recently incarcerated. He was the only one working, yes? So, with no income, how were these two able to retain (a) lawyer(s)?

And why now, MANY months later?

Hmmmmm

Agree with @rosesfromangels that maybe LE wanted another round of interviews/questioning, hopefully they've gleaned more information through the investigation side.. jmo/imo

I would love to know not only who is paying for their attorney(s) but who are the attorneys? What kind of law do they specialize in?

  • #484
True, but I think the DV incident began the police intervening, which resulted in them catching him driving while intoxicated.
Yep, makes you wonder just how angry Don is right now sitting in jail. Maybe, if he knows anything, he's spilling it.

I find myself unable to give up hope Summer is alive until I hear a confession or evidence indicating her demise.

Does anyone else hang on to hope? Positive thoughts and prayers for Summer.

Donald Wells, the father of missing child Summer Wells, will serve six months in jail in segregation with no possibility of work release or the ability to reduce his sentence on a jail work crew, according to Sheriff Ronnie Lawson.
...
He was also ordered to attend a DUI class, serve 88 hours of community service, and pay $1,248 in fines and fees.
...
At the time of his DUI arrest Wells was on probation in Hawkins County Sessions Court stemming from a conviction of possession of a handgun while under the influence.
...
The reason for Don Wells’ probation

He was arrested at his home on Oct. 14, 2020, and charged with domestic assault, possession of a handgun while intoxicated and unlawful possession of a weapon after he reportedly came home intoxicated and found a male at home with his wife.
...
In January the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office responded to an alcohol fueled domestic complaint at the residence of Donald and Candus Wells.

No charges were filed and both were referred to the clerk of courts office for private prosecution.
Donald Wells will serve 180 days in segregation with no chance for work release

When you look at the long term involvement both DW and CB have with alcohol and DV the prognosis for a healthy recovery for either of them looks pretty dim IMO. Hopefully Don's stay in jail will encourage Candus to seek help.

I mostly feel sad for the kids and what they've seen in the home. MOO.

How many domestic violence incidents are recorded? Thank you.

This is a longer interview with CH today with Anslee Daniel of WJHL News.
I hope this link is allowed here.
CH tells WJHL what happened on June 15th, still the same script with the peppermint candy.

With a nap thrown in. That was never mentioned before.

@GoBuckeyes ,
We don't know exactly why the boys were removed from the home. There is a gag order on the case which, i think is standard for DCS cases.

The nap is a new element in this narrative, and these sequence of events don't line of with CB-W's rendition. I always suspected there was a nap in there somewhere. Allegedly drinking "tea", pain meds, hot summer day = nap.

I hope wherever sweet SW is, there are plenty of peppermint candies. : (

I would like to know why it took CH almost 8 months to come out and speak publicly. I understand that she could have been under a lot of stress, especially since her own daughter had been missing for so long but she left town at a very crucial time.
I understand that she had to help her sister but couldn't other family help? I have felt like it was an excuse to leave. I know she leaves a couple of times during the year but leaving with your granddaughter missing was very strange.

I was glad to hear CH, it was easier and much clearer than CW. She also answered questions directly and didn't wonder off on another subject like DW. I just think it was too rehearsed and way too late. But I'm sure she told LE the same story, we just don't know what LE knows.

I don't know what was asked to illicit her response. Maybe she was asked about that day? Was she asked to explain exactly in minute detail, if not, note the slowing of the pace and the extraneous information (in context of a missing little girl) before getting to Summers "Disappearing" The clip is 3:29 second and she spends 1:50 seconds before the event.
She could of said, we went the hospital because my knee war sore, they went swimming we, came home, Summer went playing downstairs then when we went to find her she was gone. Instead we get in detail about her knee, planting flowers, unpacking groceries, eating candy etc etc.. Then when she gets to Summer being missing she stops there. Oh, and how long did she take a nap for? Because if memory serves me (and i maybe wrong) this is the first i'm hearing of this.

IMO

I agree CH did speak much more clearly than either CW or DW. However it has been so long since the event actually happened and I’m sure that it has been discussed amongst the family so CH may being repeating what CBW has told her. Also, I’m sure she’s had an opportunity to watch that same story be told on YouTube over and over again by CBW. MOO
