Has a last seen been established? I know it tends to change from first reports. I do recall one article said last seen by siblings near the road, then there was one that stated she was seen by brother leaving through the back door while mum was cooking dinner.

Sitting on my hands for this one. I have a feeling we are not getting the full picture, this rarely ever ends well :( beautiful little girl, same name as my daughter I hope to god she is safe but this isn’t looking good IMO

If her father had traffic violations, or something like receiving stolen property, trespassing, something along those lines, I don't see his criminal history figuring in; non-violent offenses, in other words. Or if they were from 15, 20 years ago. If he had criminal charges related to sexual offenses or violent offenses, I would think that would clearly be of concern to LE.

Clarification: I don't know what his criminal history is, but of course LE does, and I'm sure they did during that PC, as well.

When I was young, growing up in rural Tennessee mountains very close to there I a,most never wore shoes, that was back in the early 1970s. We had a creek running through our property and I would play then get hot and go to the creek to cool off.

Growing up on a farm in the summer we rarely wore shoes, maybe the occasional flip flop. Our feet were like leather.
At 6, my cousin and I decided to try to find the "dump", where they hauled all broken toys and maybe some good stuff for our play house (the old chicken coop).

We packed Oreos in recycled Donald Duck juice cans and off we headed to find new treasures. Our mamas and aunts were killing, cleaning and freezing chickens and didn't notice we were gone.

It was one of the best days!! We wandered the tobacco fields, woods, picked out further Christmas trees, played in the sandy creek, munching on Oreos and finally found the dump, bare foot. As we try to find our way home, dragging our new treasures, we heard "the bell", a big black bell that rings for fires/emergencies and to call everyone home, yea, we were in big trouble.

Her dad met us on the trail home and its the only spanking I ever received in my life.

Yes, kids do go bare foot and yes, they can get lost in the woods. As kids we have crazy thoughts, that seem to make sense. The thing is we never felt unsafe, never thought of bears, coyote, snake, fox, that roamed this 80 acre farm.

I pray she is found safe.

Search efforts are getting underway for a third time for missing 5 year-old Summer Wells. Crews are searching on land and from the air daily 8 am to 8 pm. Investigators still aren’t looking for volunteers, but are asking anyone in the area to share any security video.

Unfortunately, no.
At the presser when asked, the sheriff did not answer, but just reiterated when the missing call came in.

A good SAR dog could still track a scent if the child was pulled into a car.
I feel like I should know this but I don't. How does this work?

Oh God. I missed him using past tense. Summer lived... NOT GOOD for this darling girl. Praying for Summer Wells
I just watched it too. He seemed very resigned to me and from his tone, I now think there is a reason they are not allowing volunteers to search. Sadly.

i mean there is a reason... the terrain is rough and people could easily get hurt/lost.

MOO.... Living in a rural area , near Blue Ridge Parkway/Appalachia Trail, we have a high number of missing hikers. Most searchs are conducted by local volunteer fire and rescue squad personnel. They are highly trained, use a topography map, divided into grids.

I rarely see local volunteer groups involved in the search. Sometimes families organize a search weeks after official searches end.

Can someone clarify the amount of time from when she was last seen to when the missing call came in?

I have a bad feeling about this one.

The same here, also near the Blue Ridge Parkway and neverending forested land in general. Often it is best to leave it to the professionals. They know what they are looking for and they know how to avoid disrupting what they find, including evidence. And in that area, with communications so difficult, they don’t want to risk having a volunteer go missing.

Someone asked the sheriff about this at the presser yesterday and he just said that she was reported missing at 6:30. He said something along the lines of the last seen time varying because the parents were looking for her. I have my own personal feelings about the body language and tone of the sheriff and what that implies to me..
