The route from the home address to the store's address is about a six-minute walk according to Google Maps. I also noticed that the Cumberland River is only about 1/4 mile from where the store used to be. I hope she didn't somehow wind up in the river.

Found this about her on Facebook:

Susie was a native of Pulaski, TN, who moved with her family to Nashville, TN, where she became a well-known hairdresser and the successful owner of a hair salon, Susie's Style Mart, located at 1037 Jefferson Street. During her career, she had the honor of doing the hair of famous musicians, including Aretha Franklin, Mahalia Jackson, and Tina Turner.

During her life, she served as a volunteerfor the Colored Women’s Division of the American Red Cross. In 1965, she was awarded “Woman of the Year" at Hills Tabernacle Church. She was also affiliated with the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club, the Alpha Phi Omega Sorority, and the Junior Matrons at 15th Avenue Baptist Church.
After retiring from owning a beauty salon, Susie continued styling her clients' hair at her home located at 2004 28th Avenue North.

On December 23rd, 1975, she finished work and, around 10:00 pm, decided to walk to JRC Market, located at 2817 Clarksville Highway, to buy some cigarettes.

Susie's mom was concerned about her going to the store on that windy, cold night, but Susie thought it would be okay, so she walked out the door wearing a beige outfit with a fur-collared black coat and a pair of gold loafers.
Maybe it was her mother's intuition that something bad was going to happen, or perhaps her mother just naturally worried; either way, she was watching from the front door as Susie walked away from the residence and crossed the street, heading towards Clarksville Highway. She saw a big Cadillac pull up and drive off with Susie inside.

The store was about a 10-minute walk from Susie's home, so a ride there and back should have been quick, but Susie didn't return.

Susie never gave any indication of any intent to go anywhere other than the store, and it was her daughter's 20th birthday, so it is safe to assume she intended to be home when her daughter came back from work but she wasn't and instead of a birthday celebration her daughter came home to the news that Susie didn't come back from the store.

Susie's daughter started searching and went to the JRC Market, but the people there said they had never seen Susie come in that night.

Susie Mae Haynes was reported as missing.

Not only has she never been seen or heard from by her family again, but she also missed two court proceedings, one in 1984 in the Chancery Court of Davidson County, Tennessee, regarding ownership of her home and one in 1986 in the Chancery Court of Rutherford County, Tennessee, regarding a divorce petition submitted by her husband.

Susie was 47 years old at the time of her disappearance and described as 5’3” tall, 155 lbs, with Auburn hair, brown eyes, and some freckles.

Some may know Susie by her first husband's last name, Stubblefield, or by her maiden name, Cothron

She was an accomplished woman.

There was a nine-hole golf course across the street from her home and beyond that, the Cumberland River. I wonder if there were any leads about the cadillac that she got into.

It looks like her daughter Sheila Perry nee Stubblefield is deceased. But she has two grandsons. I wonder if they would be willing to share their DNA? That might help with any identification efforts.
