The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said they are heading back out to the area near the home of a mother who was reported missing more than a month ago.

Investigators didn’t reveal why they returned to the area, but they did say they are conducting a ground search with more than 60 deputies looking for clues in the disappearance of Taquila Hayes.

A command post has been established at Dexter and Lenow.

• LE said fresh paint, new carpet and drained bank accounts prompted them to search the home.
• More than 60 deputies and volunteers spent hours scouring the area around her home looking for clues on Tuesday.
• The home appears empty now.
  
• Investigators fulfilled the search warrant on Aug. 19.
• The warrant, signed on the night of Aug. 18, allowed investigators to search the home as well as TH's car for firearms, firearms accessories, ammunition, computers, computer storage hardware, electronic devices, cell phones, DNA, clothing, weapons and other evidence found on the property as needed in the crime of criminal homicide.
• TH was reported missing by her mother on Aug. 9, and she told deputies her family hadn't actually spoken to TH for a few months prior. Her mother went on to say CH said they had separated in early June, but he was embarrassed to tell the family.
• CH allegedly said TH had left the house with a friend sometime around June 8 and quit her job as a nurse at Methodist. But TH's mother said that didn't match her daughter's behavior, telling us in previous interviews she would never leave her 12-year-old son.
• On Aug. 12, three days after the missing person's report was filed, TH's supervisor contacted LE. She clocked out May 20 but was a no-show on May 21. The supervisor said she attempted to contact her, sending multiple text messages with no response.
• When she texted again saying she would call the police for a wellness check if TH didn't respond, she finally got a callback, but not from TH. It was CH on the other end of the line. CH told her TH wouldn't be returning to work, and when the supervisor asked multiple times to speak to her, he refused.
• TH's mother also told LE that CH had given different accounts of what happened to different family members.
• On the same day she was reported missing, Carl was interviewed by detectives.
• He said he and TH separated in June over infidelity issues and that since her disappearance he had accessed her cell phone, switched the SIM card and had pretended to be her when speaking to other people.
• When LE looked around the home, they noticed new carpet in the living room, dining room and master bedroom, as well as new paint.
• The home is a rental property, and the lease expires next month.
• When asked about the new carpet, CH said he replaced it so he wouldn't lose his deposit; a receipt from July 2 showed he paid $1,500 for it.
• When LE initially looked through the house the day she was reported missing, they noticed TH had no belongings in the house. CH said he had thrown away anything that was hers.
• When deputies looked in TH's car, they saw what looked to be new carpet. CH told them he had cleaned it.
• Detectives also checked bank records. Video footage at multiple Regions Bank locations shows CH withdrawing money from TH's accounts, including one for $800 on May 22, the day after she was a no-show for work. More than $4,000 was taken from accounts.

He's definitely an idiot. These dudes really just blow my mind sometimes. Are they actually expecting people to hear their "explanations" and come away from it thinking they are innocent? What excuse is there for switching SIM cards and trying to act like your missing wife?

Oh how I wish her supervisor had called in a welfare check regardless (not blaming the supervisor in any way, they could not have known). Hoping phone records from May can be accessed to see where either of their phones went so that she might be located. So sad. I am glad to get this update to know that LE aren’t giving up for TH.

Detectives confirm they have person of interest in case of missing mother
Detectives with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office confirmed they have a person of interest in the disappearance of Taquila Hayes.

Authorities wouldn't release a name and said they are also still waiting for pieces of evidence to come back that was sent to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Sadly, they said they have no indication that she is alive and well, but they are still holding out hope.

A search warrant obtained by WREG revealed investigators believe Carl Hayes was directly involved in the disappearance of his wife Taquila Hayes, sometime between May 21 and 22.

Deputies give latest details on disappearance of Taquila Hayes
Shelby County Sheriff’s Office held a press conference Friday afternoon to discuss the disappearance of Taquila Hayes.

A search warrant from August reveals that Carl Hayes was somehow involved.

“Carl Hayes was involved directly with Taquila Hayes’ disappearance sometime between 5/21 and 5/22/2019," was written in the warrant.

Carl Hayes has not been linked to any crime.

Harris says the investigation has led to a person of interest but has not released a name.

FOX13 asked detectives if Carl is the person of interest and is he cooperating with authorities.

"We have not spoken with him in several weeks, we are going after what the evidence tells us; we're following the science, and we are waiting for TBI," said chief inspector Chris Harris with the SCSO.

Authorities believe a Tennessee man had something to do with the disappearance of his wife.

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office announced Friday that it had a person of interest in Taquila Hayes' disappearance, but declined to name that person. But a search warrant says authorities suspect Hayes' husband, Carl Hayes, is directly involved in her disappearance.

Officers were called to the marina in Martin Luther King Jr. Riverside Park at 10 a.m., where a boater told them he found the remains.

No identification has been made, police said.

Family of missing woman says first holiday without her is a difficult reminder of her disappearance

Husband of missing Cordova woman arrested, charged with 2nd-degree murder

Carl Hayes is charged with second-degree murder and tampering with evidence, a spokesman with the Shelby County District Attorney’s office said. Jail records show him booked Monday, but a photo was not yet available.
