Frazier met the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Brenden Burns of Jackson, to buy drugs when the suspect reportedly pulled a firearm in an attempt to rob him and an informant sitting in the front seat.

The shooting death of a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agent during an undercover drug operation was recorded on audio/visual equipment in the agent's car, according to court documents released Wednesday.

Suspect in TBI agent's death returns to court; death penalty not filed

Prosecutors have not filed a notice of intent to seek the death penalty or life without parole for Brenden Burns, who is accused of killing Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Special Agent De'Greaun Frazier in August 2016.

Burns appeared in court before Judge Kyle Atkins on Monday morning for a hearing to check what additional dates need to be set.
