Tom Cruise agrees being an actor is like being a soldier in Afghanistan

I never liked Tom Cruise after he pulled that on Nichole. And I felt really sorry for her, having her children taken from her like that.

I did as well. However, I love the fact that Nicole is blissfully happy with Keith and their two daughters. I hope Katie finds the same type of happiness in her life and Tom can continue to be the joke he has become.

Can he even sell movie tickets any more? I don't know of a single human being, at least of those people I know personally, that can stand the man.

Video at link WARNING GRAPHIC LANGUAGE!

One particularly offended party was fellow actor Mark Wahlberg, who indirectly laid into Cruise during a Q&A following the premiere of his latest film, Lone Survivor.

The movie is based on a book written by Marcus Luttrell, the lone survivor of the infamous SEAL Team 10 mission to kill or capture notorious Taliban leader Ahmad Shah.

When asked by the moderator about the difficulties of shooting the film and training to pretend to be a SEAL, Wahlberg took the opportunity to set the record straight on the matter.

"For actors to sit there and talk about ‘Oh I went to SEAL training,’ and I slept on the — I don’t give a {BLEEP} what you did," Wahlberg exclaimed. "You don’t do what these guys did. For somebody to sit there and say my job was as difficult as somebody in the military’s. How {BLEEPING} dare you. While you sit in a makeup chair for two hours."

curse words removed by me. :D

I can see it though. For someone who's totally rich and sheltered, actors often put in 16-hour work days, their breaks are when they aren't in a particular scene. I'd imagine that it's exhausting. Maybe not serving a tour in Afghanistan traumatic, but certainly tiring and mentally difficult.
I have a friend who years ago got a job on a film as an extra. He said that the actors spend a lot of time in their personal trailers. He said that the male lead of this movie was nice and did fraternize with everyone but the female lead was either in her trailer or off set when she had no scenes. He said for an extra it was often boring and I imagine it would be the same for the leads when not filming, but at least they have trailers equipped with lots of things to occupy their time as well as a bed to nap. Not the same for a soldier.

I agree. My respect for Katie went up enormously when she pulled her one-two punch on the jerk. Besides, I have to give her a bit of a pass for being so young when she met him. He was this huge star and she was just a baby, really. I pulled a few dumb moves in my early twenties too. Live and learn is a saying for a reason.

She learned. When it came right down to it, she acted to protect her child and I think she deserves credit for that (in addition to making him look like a fool almost as well as he does).

He is a tool. Can't stand the man. I hope she has a chance to come back and re-establish her career. I hope he just goes away.

Katie was about 26-27 when she started dating Cruise, not that young. I couldn't believe that story that she wanted to marry Cruise since she was a young girl.

Most of her performances in movies were panned by the critics even before she met Cruise, although I remember she was decent in the indie "Pieces of April."

I was glad, like everyone else, when she surprised him with those divorce papers.

I guess it's all relative, at my age that still seems pretty darn young, LOL. If I recall correctly I didn't smarten up about men until my early thirtes, but I am sure many women learn earlier than I did. Unfortunatley, some never seem to learn.

She's no Streep or Hepburn to be sure. Honestly the only thing I can recall ever watching her in was that minseries "The Kennedy's" where she played Jackie and she was dreadful. But, in fairness it isn't easy to play an Icon, and I couldn't get past the fact tht she so tall they had to dress her in evening gowns while wearing flats, which Jackie would have never, ever, ever done.

I am not a big fan of Katie's, other than for how she handled Tommy Boy in the end, but I hope she can salvage her career. She wouldn't be the first moderately talented actress to have a career.

Cruise was responding to a lawyer’s question comparing the extended time away from his Suri while filming a movie to a soldier’s tour in Afghanistan.
“That’s what it feels like,” Cruise responded during the deposition...
“And certainly on this last movie, it was brutal. It was brutal.”

The best part of Tom was Katie and Suri, He is appalling.
HERE IS TO YOU KATIE, bless your heart, and courage.....:toastred:
Looks like Kidman is having a peaceful life after leaving his circus.
I hope that Katie finds that peace too.

If he craves a circus then maybe it does feel like needing to dodge photographers,
but in Afghanistan we have real men, dodging real bullets.

Give me a break. Tom Cruise should keep his mouth shut. Disgusting.

agree with you he should be ashamed to even compare what our Brave soldiers go through . Tom Cruise has an over blown ego that's sickening.
