Tom Cruise sues tabs for 'abandoned' headlines
By Alan Duke, CNN
updated 7:15 AM EDT, Thu October 25, 2012

Los Angeles (CNN) -- Tabloid headlines that "falsely trumpeted" in bold letters that Tom Cruise "abandoned" his young daughter should cost the publisher $50 million, the actor's lawyer said Wednesday.

The magazine covers appeared on Life & Style and InTouch in the weeks after Cruise divorced actress Katie Holmes, with whom he shares 6-year-old daughter Suri, according to a defamation lawsuit Cruise filed against the publisher in Los Angeles on Wednesday...

As much as I hate to agree with Tom Cruise I have to take his side in this. He didn't abandon Suri. Suri was taken by Katie Holmes to save the kid. I'm sure TC loves that little girl a lot. JMO

The Atlantic Is Now Publishing Bizarre, Blatant Scientology Propaganda as ‘Sponsored Content’

The Atlantic –- the one time publisher of Mark Twain, Nathaniel Hawthorne and Edith Wharton –- is now publishing Scientology propaganda. The "sponsored content"</a, bought and paid for by the Church of Scientology, went up Monday around noon and features all sorts of breathless praise for Scientology and its alleged growth last year....

Slightly OT, (and this may have already been brought up) but.. did you know that Clearwater FL has the most lightning strikes per capita than any other place in the world? Recently I was at a conference in Orlando and the first speaker was telling us facts about Florida as kind of an introduction. Anyhow when she said this one, the first thing I thought was Clearwater, the home base of Scientology! It kind of tickled me to think of all the times when I was growing up my Aunt would say "if you tell a lie God will strike you down with lightning".. Now I'm thinking old Auntie was not as crazy as I once thought.... LOL

hmmm I've heard that while I was growing up too. I've always thought that there was something to old wives tales or whatever you call it.

Tommy Davis & Jessica Feshbach: New Jobs and New Lives for Scientology’s Former Mouthpieces

We hear it all the time — what happened to Tommy Davis and Jessica Feshbach?

There still seems to be a huge fascination for the two former Scientology media handlers, and why not? Take Tommy — he’s the good-looking son of actress Anne Archer, and for a few years he was thrust into prominence as the church’s main mouthpiece. He tangled with the likes of BBC reporter John Sweeney and New Yorker writer Lawrence Wright, and was the last Scientology official who would brave live television to do battle on behalf of the church.

Jessica, meanwhile, gained her own notoriety as the shadow of Katie Holmes. The two became good friends, and Jessica was with Katie around the clock in part to shield the actress from nosy reporters and their impertinent questions about Tom Cruise and e-meters.

And then, suddenly, the two vanished. What happened?...

Alanna Masterson’s Dad Calls Connor Cruise “Worst Person in the World” for Her to Date

The Underground Bunker has teamed with Australia’s biggest-selling magazine, Woman’s Day, to bring you a report that should send some reverberations through Scientology celebrity culture.

In its newest edition, which hit store shelves in Australia a few hours ago, Woman’s Day has published a photograph taken last month showing actress Alanna Masterson, 24, and the son of Tom Cruise, Connor, 18, on a recent lunch date....

I don't like Tom or Katie. To me it was a planned marriage and probably a pre-planned divorce.

I don't like Tom or Katie. To me it was a planned marriage and probably a pre-planned divorce.

The marriage part I mostly agree with. The planned divorce I absolutely disagree with. Go back and read the thread. Breaking away from the church of Scientology isn't easy at all. Katie pulled off the divorce masterfully. Her father is a divorce lawyer and even though she was under constant surveillance by the COS, she managed to get her daughter and herself away from the COS without a scar. If she hadn't planned and pulled off the masterful plan she would be ostracized and Suri would be living with Tom and being brainwashed by the COS. Katie saved that little girl's future.

I did a lot of research, and others here did a lot of research on the COS during the divorce and posted it here. They are EVIL really, really EVIL. There are even posts from an ex member of Scientology.

Of course as always, JMO

All I remember is being obsessed with Katie's weird two week disappearance when they commenced their relationship, and then being among those who didn't think she was pregnant because the tabloids kept getting pics of her being skinny at 8 mos etc.

Good times.

Agree that Co$ is terrifying. Nothing I hate more than finding out an actor or actress I like is "in".

I have A TON of respect for Leah Remini now for routing out.

I told my brother last night that Anne Archer is a Scientologist and he said; "That sucks, I used to like her."

Leah Remini: Scientology 'looking for me to fail' on 'DWTS'

Leah Remini's very public fallout with the Church of Scientology just got uglier.

The Season 17 "Dancing With the Stars" contestant referred to the controversial faith in the video before her performance on Latin night of the reality dance competition Monday.

"I'm going through a personal big change for me and my family," said Remini, 43, who reportedly left the church this summer over differing points of view and allegations that she was mistreated after a confrontation with church leader David Miscavige at the 2006 wedding of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes....

This is from the article linked above;

...By Tuesday, the church was again unhappy with Remini's jabs.

"We know this may come as a surprise to someone as self-absorbed as Ms. Remini, but we could care less if she wins or loses on 'Dancing With the Stars,'" the organization said in a statement to ABC News....

I have never watched DWS, but my brother has. He just told me how it works. He said after each performance the judges grade the dancers. He said that most of the time the fan calls will match what the judges believe. He also said that sometimes you can tell by the audience reaction how things will turn out. Sometimes the judges will rate it low and the audience reaction won't agree, or the audience isn't enthused by a performance. The final decision on who stays and who goes is a mixture of phone in ratings and judges ratings.

I am 99.9999999% sure that Scientology has planted people in the audience stay silent when Remini finishes her performance. I'm also that sure that they have banks of phones manned by Scientologists and/or automated dialing to vote against her.

I've never watched the show before, but I'm watching it this season to see if there is a great disparity between judges opinions and calls for Remini and if the audience reaction is subdued when she performs.

Unfortunately, she may just suck and lose legitimately, but it will be interesting to see.

Leah Remini filed a report after questioning whether the wife of controversial Scientology leader David Miscavige was being "punished for her own shortcomings."

The investigation into Shelly (Michelle) Miscavige's whereabouts has been closed hours after news broke that former Scientologist Leah Remini had filed a missing persons report on her behalf....

Maybe I missed it, but nowhere in that article do I see that anyone on the LAPD actually saw or spoke to Shelly.

Of course not. These a-holes pay their way out of everything. I despise this so called church. I follow them closely via the Ortega blog. As creepy as the FLDS if you ask me.

The Apostate
Paul Haggis vs. the Church of Scientology.
by Lawrence Wright February 14, 2011

...In his resignation letter, Haggis said, “We all know this policy exists. I didn’t have to search for verification—I didn’t have to look any further than my own home.” Haggis reminded Davis that, a few years earlier, his wife had been ordered to disconnect from her parents “because of something absolutely trivial they supposedly did twenty-five years ago when they resigned from the church. . . . Although it caused her terrible personal pain, my wife broke off all contact with them.” Haggis continued, “To see you lie so easily, I am afraid I had to ask myself: what else are you lying about?”...

WARNING: FOUL LANGUAGE

With Leah Remini Under Attack on Twitter, TV Actor Christian Stolte Was a First Responder

For several days after the news of Leah Remini’s departure from Scientology broke, we watched other Scientology celebrities use Twitter to go on the attack.

But then, we noticed that another member of Hollywood was going against the grain. Christian Stolte is a familiar face for fans of Prison Break and Chicago Fire, and over several days, the clever actor skewered Scientology and the people who have been criticizing Remini.

And now that we’ve talked to him, we’ve learned he’s a complete riot....

Evidently the cops did have a face to face talk with Shelly.

...Leah -- who broke ties with Scientology last month -- was alarmed that Shelly Miscavige hasn't been seen publicly in 6 years. The LAPD closed out its investigation last night, and as TMZ first reported, cops say they had a face to face with Shelly. They did not indicate if they probed as to whether Shelly was being held against her will....

If the child is a girl they'll name it after her mother and name her Katelyn. If it's a boy they'll name it after the father, and name him In Vitro."

The screenwriter relayed an anecdote from the talks surrounding his resignation from the church where, he suggested even great leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. can make mistakes.

“How dare you compare a great man like David Miscavige to Martin Luther King,” a senior church official allegedly replied....

“Unlike the rest of my former friends, she expressed real sadness that I was leaving and concern for me and my family,” he wrote....
