Tom Cruise Bill - ALL THINGS TOM CRUISE (RELATED)

Well, we should have known Cruise would have a rebuttal...

Cruise and his production partner, Paula Wagner, say they have raised a revolving fund of $100 million from two hedge funds and are striking out on their own.

Wagner denounced Sumner Redstone's comments about Cruise as "outrageous and disrespectful." Redstone told the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday that Paramount was ending its relationship with Cruise because "his recent conduct has not been acceptable."

In fact, Wagner said, CAA, Cruise's agent, has terminated discussions with Par earlier in the week. After making 14 films in 14 years, the studio had declined to renew the original Cruise deal and offered a sharply reduced pact.

Cruise has been a tabloid-regular over the past year due to his relationship with actress Katie Holmes and his increasingly outspoken nature about the Church of Scientology. Wagner defended Cruise/Wagner's longtime success for the studio, saying that in the last 10 years, the shingle's product has accounted for 15% of Paramount's theatrical revenue and for the past six years it has tallied 32%. Their credits include the "Mission: Impossible" franchise, "Vanilla Sky" and "War of the Worlds."
Should we venture a guess that the "hedge funds" are from the church of Scientology?

Hahaha, funny shopper, he certainly is their prized cash cow.
He is doing Scientology more harm than good now, which of course is a good thing.

Yes, the more outrageous he becomes, the more people IMO will blame the cult and hopefully they will lose what little influence they have. I hope. ;)

Yes, hopefully it will work that way!

<<We could probably entertain ourselves for weeks on his speech!>>

I'm sure we could :D

I just hope Katie has enough brain cells still working (and from her recent pix I'm afraid she doesn't) to realize this information means she should head for the hills as fast as her feet will carry her.

I'm pretty impressed with how they let him go... they didn't just turn him loose. They told him it was because his behavior was unacceptable. As much of a control freak as Tom is, I imagine he's still bouncing off the walls trying to digest this one. And it sends a clear message to him that falling revenues won't be tolerated... and it sends a message to the rest of them (Travolta, Jada, Kirstie, etc.) that you can practice any religion you want but don't be setting up tents on the movie lots and don't go on national TV telling other people how to live or what pills they should or shouldn't take.

Tom's agent is probably having to chain him to a brick wall right about now to stop him from publicizing how he feels about being fired! I hope he breaks free of his chains and finds his way to a microphone! We could probably entertain ourselves for weeks on his speech!

I tell ya what- I'd BET money the "cult" is embarrased and angry at Tom because of this! I'd also bet they will now make him take more "clases" as punishment!

I also think this could be an out for Katie- no doubt they aren't as interested in her as they were when they made the "contract" and would be more then willing to let her go. Tom has made enough of a mess for them (Scientology).
With Katie in the picture it's sure to cause more controversey for them!

I think it is about time someone stood up and said they were not going to tolerate his ridiculous behavior. I am afraid Tom has gone off the deep end and might need some of Brooke Shield's pills. Apparently his vitamins are not working to control his outrageous conduct.

Well, well, well. I was pleasantly surprised to see this. I hope this sends a message to Hollywood. We, the movie/concert going public pay to see you entertain us, not preach to us. If you are at an awards show about movies then limit what you say there to that topic. If I see one more actor on stage accepting an oscar slamming America I think i will scream. Now if you want to talk about your political or religious views then go on a show that deals with those issues (goodness knows there are enough of them out there) and stop trying to cram your views down our throats every chance you get.

Here's another good quote on the subject:

From your link:

As much as we like him personally, we thought it was wrong to renew his deal," said Redstone. "His recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount."

Cruise's production partner, Paula Wagner, fired back, telling PEOPLE in its new issue that Redstone's comments were "undignified, outrageous and untrue." She said she and Cruise would set up their own Wall Street-financed operation.

Cruise's agent, Rick Nicita, told the Journal that Cruise was "offended" by Redstone's remarks. "This was done in an incredibly graceless way," he said.

ITS ABOUT DAMN TIME someone heard what the public has to say about one of their "movie stars" and considered our feelings on the subject. I guess enough people DID stay away from Tom's recent projects that it made an impact. I couldn't be happier. Katie may have tried to hitch her wagon to a star, but unfortunately for her, it was a falling star.

I bet Nicole is laughing her head off. She got out in the nick of time. He just keeps getting weirder and weirder.

 "We look forward to working with all the studios." I don't think so....definitely count out Dreamworks, imo.

And - I like the Agent - "This was done in an incredibly graceless way". Tom has been totally "graceless" this entire past year.

Now? Is when we will get to see what Tom is really made of.

Does he have the ability (and humility) to bounce back from this? Other stars have done so, but it takes a lot of "taking things in stride" and honest self appraisal. Can he do it?

Oh you hit the nail on the head with that one.

Cins, good article. Thanks.

I think these are the key words on what's going on with Redstone and Cruise:

Cruise and moviemaking partner Paula Wagner have scored the studio $2.5 billion since they walked onto the lot in 1992, and if Paramount had any reason to think Cruise could rebound, the deal would have been cut.
So, in essence, they think Cruise will not be rebounding. Hallelujah!

I personally liked #4 - STICK A FORK IN CRUISE - HE'S DONE!

Does anyone else find the irony in all of this? Many would love to get a glimpse into the private lives of rich and famous people to see what they're really like, and in this instance we saw what Tom was really like and would like to put him WAAAAAAAY into the back of our minds now. Nice.

Vanilla Sky...when my dh and I left the movie theater, we were like . I even asked him "what the h*ll was that about?" We didn't have a clue and still don't.

But I still love his older stuff like Cocktail and Rainman. And the newest movie of his that I love is Collateral. He was awesome in that.

It's really sad to see what he's become. He's going to wind up like Michael Jackson, known for his freak ways than for his talent and that's just sad to me. But he did it to himself, he's too smart of a guy to have fallen for that cult sh*t.
