TOM Cruise and fiancée Katie Holmes have declared their love for each other in a bizarre “wedding” ceremony — on a ship.

The couple exchanged rings emblazoned with triangular Scientology symbols as fellow cult members John Travolta and Kirstie Alley looked on.

An insider said: “Katie wore a flowing white dress and Tom was in a black suit as they exchanged rings during the brief 30 minute ceremony.

“The couple then walked across a tiny bridge — a Scientology symbol for the journey to total freedom.”

I like that this writer uses the correct word -cult rather than their 'religion'.
I would be beside myself if this was my daughter.

Lots of strange things about this "wedding ceremony", imo. I wonder if this was a ceremony welcoming Katie into the "cult"--not a wedding ceremony?? The ceremony did take place on the "cult's" ship.

And why is this a problem? She may not have as much money as Tom, but I'm doubting she's poor, and as you said, there is always the child support. Considering his track record, I think she's better off avoiding marrying him anyway -- we've already seen that the romance only lasts 9.9 years for him. *lol*

I'm wondering if the motivation is on the other side... that she wasn't going to ever marry him, but a scientology, non-binding marriage was a compromise she could live with, a pity move or some such.

I'm a little doubtful that the "celebration" was actually on or near his birthday. Katie looks very pregnant in the picture, so I'm guessing this is a more recent occurance. What do you think?

It doesn't say when that photo was taken, but regardless, Katie doesn't look the least bit happy. I know people can't go around grinning and smiling 24/7 but even when she is smiling, it seems forced IMO.

I'm not sure what to think, Natasha. It's possible the whole story re the "cult wedding" on the boat is made up. And it doesn't seem like she would have been pregnant last July. But then it also doesn't seem like he would be celebrating his July birthday in some other month. Hard to know anything with those two.

Okay, here's the new scoop! First, the picture of Katie pregnant is from their recent trip to Australia in February. And here's the newest "word" on their marriage:

The fabulous Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise are not married - even in the eyes of Scientology. According to The National Enquirer Magazine one of the church's chaplains married the couple early last July in a ceremony at sea.
Despite new reports that the pair tied the knot in July during a Caribbean cruise, Cruise's people told Extra TV on Wednesday night, "No, they are not hitched."

By the time the wedding does roll around, Us Weekly's Katrina Szish revealed Tom and Katie will have a new best man. "The word is officially in," Szish said.
"TomKat is having a boy. The birth could happen at any time, but we're expecting it in April."
