'Too dark for Church of Satan' - Andrew Culver

  • #21
The religion on the MySpace is listed as "Christian". Since he wrote to the Church of Satan about killing his grandparents, I was assuming he was atheist. I guess it could be him though.

Why would you assume he was an atheist?

Do "Christians" communicate with others at the Church of Satan board?! Maybe one shouldn't assume "athiest" because he might have been a "satanist"?

Maybe Myspace should update their religious choices! lol

I have to say that when I was looking at his site, I thought for sure there would be scary things like skeletons, skulls and bloody-cursors, etc. There I go assuming again.

txsvicki, at first I thought he might have just been trying to look tough or cool. I think you are right though that his family members should be concerned. He should be given a psych exam asap, and I think kicked out of the army...although sometimes I think that structure does kids like him good. If it's not already too late.

Church of Satan members consider themselves atheist. Didn't you read the news story in the first post, or the quote in the Wikipedia article I linked? :waitasec:

Gosh, KatK, take it easy on me. I did read everything (I think twice). I was more or less responding to Linda's comment about assuming anyway.

ummm nope. :blushing: Didn't read it.

I just based my post on my gut reaction. I am an atheist and I do not like being linked to the Church of Satan.

Don't blame ya there, they are quite self-serving and ruthless. Best to not cross them.

:blowkiss: Just grumped a little cause this was the second topic in a row where it seemed like you didn't even mouseover the links I posted is all. (Whoomp There It Is!)

Can an agnostic be a member of The Church Of Satan? If you only believe if it can be proved then I guess you wouldn't believe in The Church Of Satan either? Just wondering. Meanwhile, good lookout on the kid after I read what he wrote.

I really didn't put two and two together re: the links because sometimes I copy an article I google searched, and certain terms are highlighted. Those appear here if I don't fix it. They aren't links to anything other than another search on that word. So when I saw your comments, that's kind of what was going through my very slow, tired mind. :D

So, yep, WHOOMP there it is!

Sit down under a fuzzy blanket, with a cuppa hot cocoa and REST! Good gracious how do you expect to have fun come Christmas Eve-Christmas Day, and New Year's? Go to sleep early, we'll still be here ya know... *nod*

LOL, KatK. This IS how I keep my sanity. And drive you crazy, I guess! :D

So here's what Gilmore has to say about who they are/what they believe etc:

Gilmore said members of his group are atheists who believe Satan is a symbol of freedom, not evil. "To the Satanist, he is his own God," reads a statement on the group's Web site from Gilmore.
http://www.courttv.com/news/2007/1217/satan_ap.html

I can't find anything about his court date today, but I believe I heard on tv that he's being held for a court date next month. Can't confirm that though yet.

I'm surprised nobody is bailing him out! Maybe they realize there just MIGHT be a problem.
