Tornadoes on the ground in Dallas - Fort Worth greater area

  • #141
For those who live in the surrounding areas, even up to hundred miles away.

Check your yards. On the last tornado up here, people were finding pictures and documents. A couple of websites went up posting what they found and people have been able to identify their documents and pictures and get them back.

When you have lost a home and everything in it, those pictures can be priceless.

I mentioned having some kind of volunteer possession recovery to a co-worker one time and she looked at me shocked and said "that's looting."

I told her we need to have a 'system' in place and it's not looting when you are returning people's possessions. Sometimes a photo or dish maybe all the person has left of their home.

Your co-worker's a nut! Looting is going to people's home's or businesses and taking things of value out, without permission, with the intent to keep them for yourself.

They did it for Ohio/Ind/Ky last month. Somebody started a facebook page and posted what they found and invited others to send a picture of what they found. Others started sending pics in, media told the story and tornado survivors heard about it and started checking the site. It was really successful. IIRC there were actually two different sites.

Reading the article I don't know if those sites are for that particular tornado or if they are for all tornados. If you find something you will just have to check.

That is a wonderful idea!
