I went to bed because I don't feel well and missed this from News Junkie.

Feel better soon, Steely. I hope the wind storm that came through Pittsburgh isn't headed your way. You'll certainly have a two day blizzard in Rochester if it does.

The digital time stamp can be manipulated but not the meta data that is ecapsulated with the photo that would contain the actual time stamp regardless of what the user interface showed. Hopefully pros has already verified this. If not, they deserve to lose the case as it is forensics 101
This is false. You can edit EXIF data in Photoshop. You can change meta information by changing the computer clock when the file is altered.

i did an experiment this evening with my (4 year old) digital camera; i set the time date to 06/04/2008 04:15 AM, took a photo with the signature on the photo, and not on the photo.. then uploaded to my comp.. when i opened the properties, it says that the photo(s) was(were) taken on 06/04/2008 03:15 AM (curious.. must be a daylight savings thing?), and that it was acquired (to my laptop) on today's date..

would it be possible for my camera to know the actual date (today) and override my manual settings?
No. And if you change your laptop's clock to that date when you offload it, it will show that file was created on that date as well.

thank you for the warm welcome, and response! :)

willmott asked the witness, mr. dworkin (??), if he could see a time stamp on the photos; he said he could and that they came with the photo (not exact words).. i am wondering because jodi would know her way around the settings of a digital camera and could easily change the date signature (time stamp). or the time stamp is indicative of when the photo was uploaded to the hard drive.. i would like to know, even though i don't believe that the photos have any significance whatsoever.. mostly just curious about trying to suss out why they're taking this particular detour.

and they didn't get the broken hard drive until 2012? where was it before then? who submitted it to the computer forensic guy (dworkin!).

my apologies if the answers are readily available.. i'm on information overload..

So glad to have you here and those were great points on the time stamps. We know with certainty that Jodi is a master manipulator. I dont think anyone knows where it (hard drive) came from or why it was received 4 years later.... the whole afternoon was sort of a blurr... We dont even know if this is the evidence that held up court this afternoon. Perhaps all this is the monkey wrench thrown in so that the defense can catch their breath and gather their senses. It has been a pretty rough week for them... you know.. providing such great witnesses for the prosecution takes a lot out of you. hehe Maybe we will find out more on Monday afternoon when court resumes. They say 10:30 but we've sorta learned to expect delays. pffftttt

This is false.

The forensics expert clearly states the website is Youtube, making this a video.

The video was likely this:

http://www.flixya.com/video/1323238/-Free-Web-Proxy-Air-Proxycom

Although, it's been deleted (considering it's 4+ years old, not surprising). It's entirely possible someone misclicked on a video or clicked on a recommended video or something.

In any case, there's nothing to indicate someone was using a proxy at all. Nor would it make sense for someone to use a proxy to access Travis's e-mail from Travis's computer at Travis's house.
Jodi might have been dumb enough to believe using a proxy would prohibit law enforcement from determining that Travis' computer opened his email at that specific time.

For all we know he could have ran over it in the street while he was backing out of the driveway and picked it up... brought it in the house to throw it away and didn't. He didnt mention a username associated with the drive (an external or flash drive doesnt work the way a laptop or desktop hard drive would) UNLESS they can prove that his name is associated in some way to the particular hard drive the information presented should be stricken from the record. It just makes sense that IF the DT had that information they would have pointed it out before she strategically placed those photos in front of smiley guy and conveniently forgot the numbers on them.
ok... I'm worn out.. bed time for this ol gal. Thanks everyone!
Good night... Sweet dreams.

Sorry, late to the party, but I'm assuming that this afternoons evidentiary hearing was on a found laptop?

Thank you Sleuth.

In a small nutshell, my sister Cindy was murdered in 1988 by a German man and his brother in a "let's marry American women and take out big insurance policies on them then kill them and get rich" scheme. She was their first (and last) victim. They were both sentenced to Death in 1990.

She was killed on Dec. 23 and her body was found in the desert on Christmas Eve by a young boy out 4 wheeling with his Dad who came to court and testified "I thought it was a deer". :(

It was a very sophisticated premeditated plan and cover up--they nearly got away with it but their 3rd accomplice turned on them. Yet just a couple years ago after a 7 year appeal which cost tax payers over 10 million dollars one of them was released from Death Row to L with parole on a MENTAL RETARDATION claim. he will be up for parole in 5 years now but luckily has a second sentence to fulfill for the conspiracy charge..another 25 years. They will both die in prison. But he almost could have gotten out (another story).

Cindy was killed much like Travis. Over 30 stab wounds and nearly decapitated. No gun shot though. Like Travis' family I avoided crime scene/autopsy photos 100% (I wouldn't even be in the courtroom ) but horrifically ran in to one online a few years ago and thought I was going to lose my mind...seriously. So I know alot of what they are dealing with. Cindy was my only sister. Just 14 months older than me. She was my lifeline.

That's it, in a nutshell. Thanks for the love, you and everyone. :)

It hasn't even gotten to the point where the jurors would be asking questions yet. The way it was left is there was an objection and a side bar and then court was adjourned until Monday. We don't even know if there was a ruling on the objection yet.

I believe the juror questions come after both sides have examined the witness.

Got it - thanks!

What an incredibly nice thing to say.

I will say, my family has been some kind of shining example of not just surviving this kind of horror but thriving. My brother, 2 years younger than me, cracked in to schizophrenia just after Cindy was killed. He had been having some problems but this pushed him over the edge (we lost our mother very young--he was just 3--and she was our "mother" esp him). He had been living in the hell of hallucinations and paranoia on disability etc for over 20 years UNTIL this last summer.

He had disappeared for the second time in a year, crashing his car in another state having gone off his meds etc etc. and I just said ENOUGH. I found him a program near me, moved him to AZ and I have to say in less than 8 months my brother is nearly 100% symptom free and is BACK. His sweet personality is back and he's not lost to me forever. if I was to write a book it would most definitely be about him. And ironically my Dad had some medical issues and needed surgery this Fall and my brother has been taking care of HIM! It's truly and sincerely a miracle in my family.

I think most people around us would never believe we've been through what we have. We laugh, we travel, we cook (and eat) and play and enjoy this life even though we've been through utter hell. I have held a successful business myself for over 23 years. I think we are very positive shining examples of recovering from just about anything. if I do say so myself. :seeya:

IF you were to write a book??? Ummmmmmmm I'm thinking more like WHEN!! And Lifetime can make a movie and Rob Lowe can play your brother!!!!

yeah, that's what i thought. i asked based on Stolat's comment about 'meta data'...

Just a friendly observation here .. starting sequential posts with "This is false" is likely to lead to an unpleasant exchange.

Good night.

I don't know. The temperature dropped about 35 degrees in one night. I get sick very easily and I think that didn't help me. Hopefully I'll feel well enough to watch the entire SB without drifting off.

I have no idea what this is but it is funny as HE!!:floorlaugh:

Earlier in the day somebody put a picture of a baby seal in the center of the Arizona seal. News Junkie got the idea to put an emu in there. Well played I must say.

Perhaps. Just trying to nip the bandwagoning in the bud before it starts. Too many people jump on "factual" posts and recite it as gospel.

OMG...between that and the Emu AZ Seal after the "Bad Lip Reading" I saw of Beyonce last night, my cats think they're gonna have to give me the heimlich maneuver I'm choking over here. :floorlaugh:

ah ha!! yeah, they do seem to be hopelessly meandering through murky waters.

it sickens me to see Travis maligned like that.. just so wrong.. and the thing is, THEY know that.. how they can sleep, eat, smile is beyond me..

She can be as angry as she wants, but I doubt that helps her move forward. Which is what she must do as a survivor of this (or not). Honestly, don't care if that offends anyone. Survivors must move on positively or they're perpetual victims in my opinion.

I would guess she needs to get through this trial before she can even THINK about moving on. While the trial is going on, she is reminded daily, hourly - EVERY SECOND - of the horrible murder of her dear brother. How could she possibly clear her mind and start to move on?

I think forensics tools can do a lot more than what we normally can do. But when you check properties, check the "DETAILS" tab and not just the GENERAL tab. The DETAILS tab (within PROPERTIES) has an ORIGIN section and there is a date in there. See if that is the true date. Check other fields there too....lots there.
