trial day 31: the defense continues it's case in chief #88

IN Fact Mr Martinez should ask Dr Samuels just that. If she was (in this trial of the century) a battered woman, beaten and emotionally abused by Travis, why would he not visit her weekly and help her like he did so many other Maricopa County Inmates?

Why so few visits?

Luckily there will likely be some gun owners to explain the litany of things wrong with Jodi's gun story:
  • Almost nobody buys .25s compared to .22s/9mms/etc.
  • A guy certainly wouldn't buy a .25, especially if he has a cop sister and a gun nut friend to get advice from.
  • Even if he did, he'd certainly have at least a partial box of shells around and probably an extra magazine or two.
  • And even if he popped in a magazine full of shells (highly unlikely) and left off the external safety (or it didn't have one, which is possible), he sure as hell wouldn't rack a round into the chamber and then stick it up on a shelf.
Not someone who had been a victimized with a gun held to his head, nor someone who had roommates who could have access to the gun. And certainly not someone who had been stalked by JA informing HER where the gun was located!

:what:

She's peeking out of the closet into a bathroom as she sings. To close for this is be explained away.

Actually, I tend to agree. Anyone who has gone through a break up knows how sad love songs become your personal anthem for a term.

There is only one thing I just can't understand. TA sends the text that he wants nothing to do with her, he tells JA she is evil (which he did get that right), and he probably never answered her phone calls and/or text messages on her way to Mesa, but then it is obvious that there was something going on that day.

I think she probably weaseled her way in with a check for the car payment, but Why did he let her in and then have something with her?(whatever it was)??? He obviously posed for those photos when he was lying down on the bed, and the time stamping was an internal clock so it could not be manipulated, so was she that persuasive? Personally, I don't think she is that great looking, but I am not a guy.
Another thing, when you listen to Marie Hall, she was adament that TA was not the man for her. She told TA that it was only a friendship between them, but I think TA lived in a bit in a fantasy world thinking that he could change the way she felt. Marie Hall is definitely a woman who knows her own mind and it just wasn't going to happen.
But anyway, TA telling JA that him and Marie was something he saw as destiny was a huge mistake, the one that probably did him in.

I do not believe he posed for those photos she took. Whether he took them of her I am not certain but I felt she set the camera and did these herself. But the police know more than we do and may have more photos of them having sex. As for the sex, I do not think Travis was the smartest guy...which was his downfall. She was easy and I guess that appealed to him. I do think she took advantage of him in ways we may never know about. Maybe he was this gregarious, fun loving wonderful guy who just wasn't too smart when it came to women and she obviously thought she had control of him. I hope some man put there pays attention and learns from all this. She is pure evil and i am sure there are more women like her. How awful to think of that!!!

IIRC, Mormon Attorney wrote an incredibly thoughtful and enlightening post on Associative Disorder. In her post, she indicated that JA had characteristics that reminded her of the children she fights so hard for. IMO, the post was hard for her to write and one could feel the pain in her words. After reading her post, I started reading about Associative Disorder and I began to understand what she was talking about as it relates to JA. Ignored and untreated it can lead to sociopathy. As we try and wrap our heads around the ability for a person to commit such a heinous murder, we are attributing "normalcy" to JA. So is she "truly" evil, the devil incarnate, or a result of the people around her unwittingly or unknowingly indulging her behavior? I don't know. I have been struggling with this ever since I read MA's post. I do hope that the jury convicts her and she never ever sees the outside of a prison ever again. To Minor's point, I think there is another way to look at things. Respectfully, IMO.

Zuri,
If one can help a child when they are young to not become a sociopath, psychopath or whatever, that's wonderful. And Mormon Attorney has a great heart. However, it is too late for Jodi Arias. And I think some are born evil. The job of the jury is not to figure out Jodi's personality. Their jobs to decide if sheis guilty and she most assuredly is guilty of murder one.

but her life needs to be over and I think she would "enjoy" prison. Given her lack of human emotions I see her as someone who could easily adapt to her environment and master it. She's fairly attractive and can apparently be charming and on the surface she appears "smart" and articulate (it's as shallow as the rest of her pretenses though) and I'm sure she would easily learn how to manipulate the staff and other prisoners. She would be a "model" prisoner in terms of behavior and she would learn how to earn favors and privileges and develop a following of other prisoners.

She should not be allowed to have the opportunity to do this. The only way I'd go for LWP is if she were to be kept in solitary and even then I wouldn't be sure she wouldn't find a way to manipulate that to her advantage. She's like a rabid animal and can't be allowed to live among us regardless of the location.

She definitely must be kept in solitary confinement so as not to murder again. Because she will.

Ah, so you can receive up to $300 to replace your lost salary -- looks like you have to prove that actually is your salary. But even if your salary is, say $12.50 per hour (close to $100/day) that's $1800 for all jurors per day. I'm stunned that Arizona actually pays that.

Every state is different -- and it may vary within each county within a particular state.

For kix & comparison, here is how it works in Wake County, North Carolina:

Q.Will the State pay me for jury duty? A.Yes. You will receive $12 for the first day you serve. $20 for days two - five; and if you serve for more than 5 days, you will be paid $40 for everyday after the first five days. The Clerk of Court will issue your jury payment within a few days of your jury service. (Last updated on 10/02/2006 )
