Hi Neesaki,

I get what your saying about Dr.Samuels, It's like watching someone drone on in a speech you know everyone else is laughing at. I am always uncomfortable no matter what a jerk the person is, it is actually uncomfortable for me to watch someone ripped to shreds--that's just me.

Even in this case I hate to watch how many side bars there are, and how this judge handles determining admitting certain evidence--she could have saved us a lot of time if she listened to, what I am sure Juans argument was for, not allowing this mess of information to be admitted.

At least it makes JW look like an idiot for arguing so hard to have this guy for the defense. I really do not like that little munckin!

I agree with you about JW

On feeling uncomfortable, I can see your point- but not with this guy. After listening to him be so snarky yesterday about the sanctions and mentioning several times that he's basically only in this for the money and the glory and doesn't have time to keep up with the rules of his industry - man, I was ready for someone to just cut him off at the knees. This guys's a money-grubbing opportunist who needed to e cut down to size. Publicly at that. Someone needed to put a stop to him. Juan did us all a favor. IMO

One thing that came out yesterday compliments of Doc Samuels was that Jodi told him the rope was used for hands and feet and that the rope was cut off, not that she simply slipped out of it. The point of interest is that if true, a big if, it clearly places the knife in the bedroom and takes it out of the bathroom.

Thatwas exactly what I thought too.

I have to say that my jaw dropped yesterday watching things unfold with JM on cross. It was far too easy...my notes read OMG!!!...quality of expert work

This is now the third time I'm aware of that the defense had documents in their possession that they did not thoroughly review...the coded magazines, the bank statement with three gas purchases and now this PDS test. Even if KN and JW did not understand the implications of the test date and PTSD diagnosis, something like this would be in the area of expertise of the Mitigation Specialist, who should have brought it to the attention of the attorneys.

I really do not know what the defense team was/is thinking in their preparation. Given the quality we've seen so far, I expect Ms. LaViolette will be on par with their other witnesses.
TA's family must be feeling more optimistic now. May they find some peace and let justice be served.

She really needs to re-think testifying. She is going to be destroyed as well. I can't believe that she is buying any of this battered woman crap. If she says she does, then I have no sympathy for what happens to her. :gavel:

 I can't wait to see if the Dr. shows up today!

I would bet the mortgage on my house he spent most of last night trying to figure out how to have a car accident on the way to court. :floorlaugh:

The test score that the good doctor gave Jodi, you could see that he had erased a 6 and replaced it with a 4. When Juan asked him about it Samuels said he added wrong. Really?

I don't think its down to money alone. I personally (especially after today) think its pretty likely the Doc is narcissistic. It would go a long way in explaining why he seems to feel such an affinity for Jodi. Birds of a feather and all that.

If he is it makes sense he's an expert defense witness for hire. It would appeal to his ego and make him feel uber important (despite his lack of education, peer reviewed articles, teaching stints, etc in addition to his questionable ethics). A nationally televised trial, in which he could look important and knowledgeable, would be like honey to the Pooh Bear of narcissists. Irresistible.

Some narcissism is a good and even healthy thing...but too much of it leaves us with doctors believing they are superior to codes of ethics, should presume a diagnosis based mainly around what benefits them, and are seemingly immune to what would be requested of any expert - like validating their diagnosis or having their notes in court. ;)

He didnt seem to me to have any lack of education or experience. Whicb makes it all the more strange that he would vet up there unprepared. Maybe your average prosecutor isnt nearly as good as JM? --- The defense attorneys DEFINITELY should have known better.

One thing Doc Samuels said today has me really thinking. He said he read all of her journals and he just never read anything negative in them. Gotta say I am no shrink but there is definitely some red flashing lights and sirens going off in my head about that statement. Kinda like Ms. Arias just creates her own little reality with each entry. Something wrong with that picture.

Also wasn't she claiming she didn't write anything negative because Travis insisted she not write anything negative.
So how does that work when the doc said the journals started from either middle school or high school and she didn't meet Travis until she was 27 yrs old. :sigh:

I don't think RS developed the defense theory. I think it was all Nurmi. That is his specialty. Sexual offenders. He simply flipped the tables and built a case around what he is used to defending against. He only needed a willing expert.

Yes! I've thought this for awhile now. It takes the DT hours and hours to tell all their lies, and it takes Juan Martinez minutes to undo all the lies they have told.

Is the defense team just going through the motions at this point? It certainly does not seem like they are trying.....Can't think of why they would have put Dr. Samuels on the stand yesterday if they were actively trying to prove her self-defense claim.

What do you think is on the tape that Flores is bringing in this morning? Any guesses on who he interviewed on Thursday?

I think it has to have something to do with Samuels.

I agree with some of the posters who are saying they felt sorry for Samuels...I encounter people like him everyday in the professional world, who believe themselves to be more capable than they are, and get in way over their heads. I think he genuinely believed her...I got "hired gun" from him, but I also got "doesn't know his elbow from his <I'll do my own mod-snip here:lipssealed:>. Anyone who thinks professionals look to Time magazine for guidance has to be horribly inept..but also very clueless.

This is about justice but also some measure of entertainment to us and to the rabid HLN viewing public...But for him it is real life and reputation. I think that he will be genuinely affected by this.

JA appears to have been able to destroy yet another life. She's a one woman wrecking ball.

I am saving all of my disdain for the domestic violence expert, and the Mitigator that has her who-ha's on display everyday.

Yes, I think Dr Love is Dr Done.

I feel badly for him - but only in the sense that I feel badly he is the kind of person who needs to get the biggest amount of gain for the smallest amount of work and on top of that he runs from his lazy mistakes. He epitomizes so much of America that allowed our country to fall into recession. They didn't want to do the work but they wanted to be paid for it and they let materialism and glory cloud their work ethics. Sounds like a lot o big-wigs out there.

Well he needs to just wake up and smell the coffee like the rest of us and realize those cushy days are over and it is time to roll up the sleeves and do some real honest hard work.

Since I have taken the "REAL" PTSD test, which is several pages long and at least 150 items...when he first testified Jodi only took a 49 item test, the first thing that came to mind was: "this guy is hasty and lazy". Probably has gotten by on that hasty lazy method for years, but eventually that prom dance comes to an end.

We often through the word masterful around, but yesterday JM earned that description a hundred times over. I'm still flying. It was so impressive. Like somebody said, they should be showing that cross examination in law schools.

The thing I am most looking forward to today is having JM demolish this guy over the stupid pedophilia issue. Yesterday Samuels implied, if he didn't actually say, that pedophiles are really good at hiding their attraction to children so it isn't surprising that nobody knew anything about it. Of all the things that "doctor" did yesterday, that was the worst. There is not one single iota of evidence that Travis was a pedophile, but this guy acts like of course it's true. GRRRR! :furious:

KNurmi specializes in defending those accused of sex crimes in his private practice.

DSamuels specializes in evaluating sexual offenders for risk.

I'll bet these 2 have worked on MANY cases together. moo

Also, which psychologist sends 'Erroneous Zones' to a suicidal patient?? I mean it's not a book for someone who wants to kill herself! It's an ordinary self-help book!

*Respectfully snipped*

Arias has ruined so many things including most recently Dido and Wayne Dyer.

I don't know if anyone had this thought yesterday (at the animal hospital with sick dog and couldn't play last night)...but erroneous zones= too much like "erogenous zones" to be appropriate....I think the good doctor wanted a little JA in his life...I bet she tried to give him the book back because she had a little something written for him in the spine.

Hate to ask, but could someone post a link to our beloved JM undoing the "dr's" testimony yesterday?:please: Missed all of the GOOD parts! Thank you!

There was a definite reason they sealed those records, and it has nothing to do with the witnesses at trail IMO.

Were the jail visitation records sealed like the defense team requested? It would be very interesting to see how many saw her like you said!

What do you think the reason was for the visitation records to be sealed?

i don't see why anyone feels sorry for this guy. i refuse to call him 'dr.'. he's a charlatan, plain and simple. he's been in trouble before for blurring the lines and he's done it again with the defendant. i don't think he even understands what the boundaries are, which IMO, makes him dangerous. what other lines would he cross in his work? what else wouldn't he understand is inappropriate?

as to why the defense called him, he's obviously the best they could come up with to defend their lying, murdering client. and he did it for MONEY. he's being PAID to say what the defense wants him to.

i have no sympathy for an expert who is unethical, disorganized, fills out answer sheets himself FOR the client, thinking that's okay because he's an honest man and wouldn't lie. how do we know that? I'M certainly not comfortable making that assumption.

so i'm looking forward to watching JM continue to rip him to shreds. this is all junk anyway----classic case of 'garbage in, garbage out.'

I'm thinking Ms. Arias is now learning the Laws of Consequences. All the lies that in the past have gotten her out of problems are failing her this time. Her made up ninja story has come back to royally bite her. This section of the house of cards has fallen and the next section as an abuse victim is also about to fall because she also lied to the DV "expert" about the so called child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 on the computer as JM has alluded to. If that happens I can't imagine the jury having any choice but to conclude she is a stone cold liar, who also has lied to them, and a killer that deserves the DP .

"LAWS OF CONSEQUENCES" Rotfl. That's hilarious. . . I truly think this trial is her first time not being able lie or otherwise manipulate her way out of something.

Ohhh..I forgot about this. Some of my sympathy for him just went away....
