Samuels looks overly relaxed compared to yesterday.

I think dishonest people are able to regroup rather quickly. He had all night to figure out how to reframe his approach to try to get out of this.

No confirmation that Jodi was lying? And breasts on magazine are illegal?

He said breasts on a computer are not illegal. But jodi tried to paint this picture of a sexually obsessed and abusive Travis, who had tons of 🤬🤬🤬🤬 on his computer. None was found, deleted or otherwise, and here this doctor is trying to squirrel out of why he didn't find a lie in this area to be important? Ridiculous, isn't it?

What is a 'speaking objection', mayqueen?

Instead of, "Objection, speculation.", it would be "Objection, speculation. He has no way of knowing, your honor, what a computer specialist may or may not have found on that computer."

Probably but I do find the way that Juan words his questions at times a bit confusing

I do too, frankly. He uses a lot of double negatives, for example: "You didn't lie, did you not?" I was taught not to do that. One judge actually kind of yelled at me for it!!!!

I think he gets very excited. But I still give him a solid A+. He's incredible. Everyone pretty much knows what he means, he uses no notes and he decimates the witnesses with their lies and inconsistencies and dishonesty. He paints a great picture on cross. Amazing.

why is Nurmi even there? What is he contributing? Besides a lazy bum stance?

This is Wilmott's witness so she is the only one who will object. Just like Wilmott was silent when Nurmi was handling jodi. But he observes, takes some notes and later will be using that info to strategize.

What in the world? Maybe there is going to be some kind of voir dire or mini qualification hearing about a particular issue.

I think you're right. Looks like this is going to segue into a major issue.

I think the attorneys should just stay up at the bench, save time for all their "may we approach"?

  • #883
The defense attorneys have seen these documents before -- this is pure theater.

YEP YEP and the judge keeps allowing it.
Not ok IMO

  • #884
She's saying Judge, we dont care for pg 14, par. 2.

  • #885
Is Nurmi awake today? I havn't heard a peep out of him.

Maybe he has given up and simply kicks back to see if anyone is annoying JM and collect his $1500. JW is having to hop around the room objecting like a jumping bean.
As I said yesterday, I think he has checked out.

I just thought of something. If she is claiming self defense, and this doc is saying she forgot events because of the trauma, wouldn't her mind have gone foggy after the body slam - before the gun?
Not Jodi. ;) Dontcha know her fog is special and defies many well known psychological and physiological facts - as well as definitions? :giggle:

  • #887
My understanding is they were not sure what JW is doing or why.
I'm very confused with this circus JMO

JMO but I think that defense is deliberately trying to make it look like Juan is trying to pull something over on them.

Willmott is more annoying than both Baez and Mason put together.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Ok so I missed it. What book thing is the defense reading right now? JM has some cd in his hand and I am guessing they are reading the transcript for it. Who is on the cd and whats it about??

cd is interrogation of JA from Det. Flores when she said TA would not allow her to take pictures of him in the shower or bathroom - he didn't like that . . . he was a very private person . . .. something to that effect

IIRC . . . . exposing yet another lie that JA told Dr.Samuels . . . . the testimony was JA told the Dr. that TA wanted her to take the pictures of him in the shower . . . . that is when she dropped the camera and ended up killing him

I was wrong . . . it was a tape of the Dr. speaking with JM . . . . Dr. told JM that JA told him TA grabbed the sweater - when he grabbed sweater she grabbed the gun

exhibit #539

he is coming after her . . . he grabbed her sweater . . . she took the gun . . . I think it was on the shelf in the closet.

that is the Dr's characterization . . . it was a sweater or some sort of clothing . . . they were approximately in the closet . . . .and she remembered the gun when she was grabbing the gun . . that is what Dr. recalled but he does have it in his notes there
objection
approach

(ETA - I was going to remove my initial reply but I think I will leave it . . . I distinctly remember that happening during the interrogation . . . there is another way to prove this lie IIRC!)

I can't remember - is the jury back or are they still out of the room for 5 minutes?

  • #895
Jesus... it's not like she hasn't seen this evidence before now. Hurry up!
She just glossed over the discrepancy when she read it the first time, and is mad Juan pointed it out, so she's going to pout and stall.

There is no coughing in court today. I have never heard it so quiet in here. Just a few key presses are heard now and then. #JodiArias

Yea not many key pressing cause we cant stay out of SIDE BAR!

  • #897
Is there a record for number of sidebars in any trial, civil or criminal?

  • #898
At this point all these sidebars for a defense witness called by defense look bad for them. Looks as if they are trying to hide something he was able to find out.

  • #899
Wow Samuels, the expert, has NOT looked, turned or even acknowledged the jury since cross by Juan.....
