Just wanted to say . . . . it is not ethical for therapists to do couples counseling if Domestic Violence issues are involved in the relationship.

NG is saying she is very surprised there has not been an objection to this testimony as this witness has never heard TA's voice.

I feel like a sausage roll from all the fries.

*sips mojito, reaches for chocolate truffle*

don't judge me!

Omg.... how many non married and no kids abused women travel 1000 miles to their supposed abusers house????? To their house??????

REALLY ?? That would be my first question to her....

Mine is :) This is a pic from several months ago but he is quite a bit bigger now. We also have a small Siamese girl who has the same, identical coloring and markings; lynx point with snowshoes!

No one reading this thread would question there's a full moon tonight!!!!

I haven't heard her say anything about Jodi yet. It's my understanding that she was paid to evaluate Jodi. If this is correct, I find it interesting that she has only been testifying in generalizations and hypotheticals so far. Did she write a report? I don't know if she did because it hasn't been mentioned. Over a day of testimony and no report has been mentioned.

Don't you think it's possible that she doesn't think Jodi was abused? Based upon what I've heard so far, I think that's very possible. Now, if she did write a report I'd still hold off on my evaluation of ALV until I know what she said.

She hasn't said anything offensive and hasn't said anything about Travis or Jodi. She hasn't done anything to help Jodi...so far.
It does seem rather odd. I envisioned coming home tonight and finding her discussing THIS case. Instead she is being questioned about counseling couples? For what purpose does that relate to Travis' murder?

:waitasec:

MOO

How was the last hour of ALV testimony?

I missed it, but i'm reading Jodi having a nervous breakdown??

I've been wondering that too. Did she agree to testify but with the stipulation that she would only discuss the dynamics of DV generally?

And her experience with people in the SHELTER. Wish I had a dime for every time she said that word.

KCL. if you are still here..will you be going to court tomorrow? Was any WS there today?

That's because can't. There was a hearing about it. She can't say anything specific about Travis. Juan fought to muzzle her and the defense team.

Then there's nothing stopping her from talking about Jodi, right? Then why hasn't she? See my point?

I think some of our very own WS members who have been victims of DV would beg to differ that one has to be married for 25 years with children to qualify as a "real" victim.

Teen girls and boys are victims of some pretty intense abuse from their partners.
People like Travis have been stalked and murdered by someone they dated for only a short time. But you are saying THEY aren't victims?

Hmm. I disagree with your take on this, but am curious why you think only a small sample of people qualify as victims.

I don;t think the poster was saying only a small sample of people qualify as victims. I think the point was that the expert's discussion as to why people who live with, are married to or have children with their abusers find it harder to leave that abuser, is irrelevant here because this couple only dated for 6 months.

Remember also, Travis broke up with jodi and SHE moved closer to HIM after they split apart. There is zero evidence that Travis stalked jodi or was trying to get her to come back to him or was even inviting her over after that period. None.

There was nothing tying her to him.

Not to toot my own horn but I quit smoking cold turkey, about 1 year ago. Not a day goes by that I don't crave or dream about a cigarette. I have been told that it takes years for the craving to dissipate, if it ever does.

There are times that I feel so weak that I swear a semi truck wouldn't be able to drag me away from getting to a 7-11 for a pack of yellow American Spirits. The memory of smoking is so intense.

The two things that really helped me. Intense physical exercise and prayer.
I never tried doing it with pharma assistance.

May the force be with you.

I know it;s off topic but just to give people some hope, I quit in August 2001. Right after I took the bar exam. The first two weeks were horrible. The first three months were not easy. After that, it got easier and easier. I smoked for 17 years, at least a pack a day prior to quitting, usually closer to a pack and a half. I did not dream or think about cigarettes after the first three months on a daily basis. I would have dreams where I accidentally smoked one, though and those were awful dreams!!!

I did have cravings for a cigarette now and then, though, usually in times of stress or boredom or after I ate. I still do every now and then, like today! But my cravings have never, after the first three months, been a big deal or unbearable or anything significant that dominated my life. They pass within seconds. They are pretty rare today. No biggie.

So happy I quit. No smelly hair or clothes, exercise is easy, I don;t have to worry about dirty looks or wait in hell until I can escape to have a smoke. I'm so free now.
