So, now does DeMarte testify for free since she is an expert witness for the prosecution? How does that work? Only DT has paid experts? Anyone know?

The prosecution pays their experts too.

I dont get it either but either she must believe her or its $$. It's beyond me....

I think $ is part of it, but also I honestly think ALV just doesn't know the whole story yet and is going by what the DT and JA has told her. She sees JA as a victim because that's the story she presented. I don't think she has researched the case on her own.

Welcome to the forum angell,
That is JM's pen.

It looks like a bullet coming out of the gun? Possibly it jammed. Wow, that I never noticed before. If it weren't jammed you couldn't get a pic. It would move too fast!

Didn't she originally come on as a mitigation consultant? Maybe she's against the death penalty?

If it was her son that had been brutally slaughtered, I bet she would not
be against the death penalty (if she is).

I cannot figure her purpose. THERE IS NO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE here pertaining to Jodi; other, than Jodi violating Travis. They had a casual dating relationship. Big deal.

Closed hearing about the DT cost to taxpayers. MAN O MAN, now THAT is something I'd like to see!

Me too! I had hoped that hln would report what happened in it at least, but so far I've heard nothing.

I don't think she's doing any job at all, much less a fine one.

i was particularly offended (and hope I don't offend anyone here) that she implies that victims of DV have absolutely no personal responsibility for getting out of their situation. Because no one will believe them and the world caters to men. What 1950's bull. And it's just too haaaaaaaaard to do anything about it.

What's the opposite of empowerment? That's the message she sends to victims of DV. (that's the main point of my post, I am not trying to say it's easy to get ones self out of that kind of situation. But to sit back because of "what society may think" and the rest of her reasons why women don't tell is just bull) IMO. and I'll admit I turned her off after her sickening recitiations of every case she has ever seen.

SusieD:

Thanks for your post.

I had trouble falling asleep last night and it all centered on this aspect of her testimony. She gave the impression that a high majority of those abused tell no one; this could not be further from the truth.

Last night brought back vivid memories of two incidents of physical abuse and the aftermath, including seeking shelter and reporting things to the police. My injuries could not be hidden, nor did I attempt to make any excuses. I went back after the first incident due to our child and the thought it would never happen again. After the second incident, I left the country with our son and two bags to my name.

This woman is without conscience and IMO, very dangerous and likely to kill again. It disturbs me to my core that not only did she viciously slaughter this man with three distinct types of torture any which could have caused death, but she is now trying to destroy his legacy. She went beyond domestic abuse allegations and has brought in pedophelia as well as the spiderman underpants, which I think is especially cruel. Seeing the pictures of Travis with his dad makes me think this was deliberate on her part and akin to the slashing of his throat.

The 9 mm and two knives found in her escape vehicle convince me beyond a doubt that she was prepared to kill again. I'm not a lawyer and don't know if this is admissable in court, but if it is, I would hope that JM brings this up in his closing arguments.

Hi everyone!

Just wondering what your take is on the story of JA having a "nervous breakdown" while in her relationship with DB?

Her statement said that he was doing some psychological tricks on her?

Hope to hear your insights. : )

"nervous breakdown". I laughed. That's her definition of a nervous breakdown? She has an argument with DB and doesn't get her way so she starts crying and then leaves. Ummmm okay.

Notice she says they were sleeping in different bedrooms so this would be after she went to the PPL convention and met Travis.

DB and JA broke up four days after the PPL trip. No doubt there were arguments.

I originally thought that her plan all along was to shoot him in the shower and leave him in there dead with no mess. Like you, and the ME's testimony, he was able to move somewhat after he was shot...addled...but maybe ambulant for a few minutes. But then, where did the knife come from? I can guess that she brought it for "back up". I can't finish this scene in my head.

I definitely think she brought the knife from work, a professional grade butcher knife, used in a restaurant. It would be much sharper than one used in a home.

Please tell me the defense is finished with ALV and Juan is up next!

Tell me too! Whisper sweet nothings in my ear....."Juan is here.."

I would hope there are better ways to stand behind your beliefs than to defend a woman who is the antitheses of your life's work.
I thought about her all last evening trying to figure her motivation. Couldn't get there.

due to the amount of time he was spending away from JODI.

just a guess here but I bet SHE was the real reason...
jmo

DB was not forthcoming in his testimony. He is a wimp! He needs to MAN UP for his son, who is still a teenager, and go to JM and testify of all Jodi's evilness. Otherwise, his son may also grow up to be a wimp and become the victim of another psycho.

I think it's beyond "normal" drama queen - this woman totally flips out when she's told "NO" and has to be in control of e every situation she's in. Can you imagine this monster as a child? Reminds me of that freaky video of Casey as a child - shudder.

At this point I kind of do feel for her mom - I think Jodi was a much stronger and bigger personality than her parents could handle. I think they walked on eggshells a lot very similar to the way Cindy and George parented Casey. She was a terrorist to her family for sure.

I've seen it before, some kids can be so headstrong and unbreakable that the parents are at a complete loss as to how to handle them. Punishments don't work with kids like this. I can see Jodi as a child remaining totally stone-faced if and when she was ever spanked. I would love someone in her family to come forward and throw her under the bus.

I completely agree. She was a monster child who became a monster adult.
But all along the way, there were signs and someone could have, and should have, put a stop to her behaviors. Parenting is not for the weak. Travis paid the price for JA being allowed to bulldoze everyone around her. She is the kind of girl that I would have given a beatdown to in HS. Not proud of that, I just didn't have any tolerance for certain people back then. She deserved to be brought down a few pegs.

A doctor said modern gluten is the perfect poison!
Yes and 1 in 7 people have a gluten intolerance, 1 in 133 have celiac disease. Most aren't aware of it b/c they are misdiagnosed or don't have symptoms (there are 300 symptoms).
You have to cut it out completely though, then you will notice how it effects your body and not want to feel like poo so won't eat it. ;)

It has been pretty easy for me to eat paleo and has helped.
Grass fed meats, organic veggies, fruits and nuts.
There are so many sites online for yummy recipes as well.
:)

I wonder how the hearing is going in front of the other judge, hopefully we will hear soon.
T minus 1 hr 25 mins until the jurors are due back.

:seeya: Celiac diagnosed in Dec 2008 here!

Gluten is bad for everyone.

think about it! GLUE-TON

It's like eating paper mache' paste!

:blushing: However that paste in kindergarten we used as "glue" did taste good :floorlaugh:

Good morning/Afternoon everyone. :seeya:

I guess the only exciting news of the day will be whatever comes from this hearing which includes our lovely Beth K. It started at 9pm Arizona time (same as pacific time now) and hopefully soon we will hear how that went.

Beyond that I'm guessing it's going to be Day #2 of a snooze fest where a new expert yabbers on for hours about what an abuser Travis is with out mentioning his name.

Thrilling. :waiting:

Hi Websleuths! Thanks for such a great site.

Hi peeps, and thank you for all the insight and sharing here. I found this site back in January when I quickly grew tired of the THs on TV avout this case, and made this the go-to place for info. Now when ask if new info disclosed on HLN is true, I check it out here!! (Yeah WS!!)

Jodie knows right from wrong. She had a plan and carried it out. She wanted to own Travis and probably thinks she does. I got news for her, what she did was take his life, but in doing so made the whole world aware of this young man, and now he is an inspiration to many. His desire to motivate and become all you can be, no excuses, is a legacy that even Jodie cannot take from him.

Justice for Travis!!! and may his family finally have peace after this murdering JA goes to her fate on DR, and Travis lives on in all our hearts! Go Juan!!

:welcome3:

OT - what about chick peas? Aren't they packed with protein but very low in carbs? There's a Moroccan soup made with chickpeas and garlic (and some other spices), purée it and its delicious and healthy!

Good luck! We leave in one month for Dubai & Morocco and I'm praying for a 10lb loss before we go!

They are garbanzo beans, not to be confuses with Fava beans and a nice Chianti.
