ITA. The Judge has limited options when the defendant claims illness. Even having JA examined by a Dr would be inconclusive and probably claimed as predjucial by DT. sigh!

If JM had asked for a cancellation because he was too ill to attend and the Judge agreed, would anyone be so angry? Or suspicious?

I want this trial over ASAP but if she is ill/claims she is ill that is a trial stopper. She is on trial for her life. She must be well enough to follow the proceedings.

Enjoy your free day, folks. Be comforted by the fact that migraine or no, JA doesn't get the day out from behind bars. No free day for her.

I totally agree with what you are saying, but what cam be done if Jodi chooses to become "ill" a couple of days a week?

At what point, if any, can she be either forced to attend, or be excused and the trial continue in her absence. Can she be charged with contempt? How could it be proven? I am just flummoxed here. There must be some kind of safeguard against shenanigans, right?

When I was a child, I would read The Bobbsey Twins books. I was SOOOO confused and annoyed when the children would come home from school at noon for "dinner". Wait, what? That didn't make any sense! Eventually I figured out that, for them, dinner=lunch and supper=dinner. As a native Californian, these were terms I had never heard in those contexts

My mom's side is from CA (Northern) and they all say "warsh" instead of wash. I was born in Houston, so dinner and supper are the same thing. And I was in charge of making my own lunch. If I didn't make it, it wasn't getting served.

The person pled guilty and was sentenced to LWOP. it was probably a plea bargain. Plead guilty, no death sentence. Ridiculing the judge is unfair when we just don't know what the details were. JMO

That's not exactly right. HLN said life without parole and that the sister left because of victim's family testimony.

apologies if this has already been discussed, but the rebuttal witness on the list filed most recently is a Mesa PD person -- Robert Brown. I googled him and he's in computer forensics, so my guess is that this is in anticipation of Laviolette on the pedo pics. Pure guess, though. I didn't see anything on the document about the subject matter of the testimony.

Yesterday on Dr Drew and today again on the HLN Kyra show someone mentioned that ALV has not talked to Jody. Vinnie Politan did not disagree.

I don't know... HLN just said Jodi gets breakfast between 2-3am and dinner at 5pm. No food at county jail/court, period. These trials are daunting enough when you get a proper meal three times a day. Going without food from 2am to 5pm daily and being woken up at 2am every night when you need to focus on your death penalty case would leave most people feeling faint and getting migraines. Some energy bars and a littlw sandwich at lunch would sure save a lot of tax $ and help Travis' family out emotionally and financially...

Lol, Sheriff Joe said she could save some of her breakfast and take the sack to court with her for lunch.

I am no Jodi fan but I think alot of this BS could be alleviated by giving her a sandwich. She would have less excuses to choose from next time. Ugh.

Travis' family has been subjected to great stress since June 4, 2008. It's not up to us to question what makes sense or doesn't as far as them being upset goes. I am sure every day is a difficult day for them and they have to get dressed and out of the house and into the courtroom every day. They have to sit in the same room as JA, who butchered their brother. They have to sit in the same room as "the justice system" who has tried to paint their brother as an abuser and also a pedophile.

Perhaps seeing another murderer get sentenced pushed Samantha's buttons. There's only so much people can take and they have been accumulating stress for almost five years.

I am not attacking your post I just want to offer up an explanation that it might not be something in particular. It might just be the whole process. We all have bad days where things bother us more than they do on good days.

I imagine it brings up a lot of buried emotions because they are reminded of their own case. I heard from several abuse survivors yesterday that ALV stirred up emotions from their abuse and had to turn off the TV, myself included.

so none of the jurors have called off sick...yet? but isn't this the 2nd or 3rd time Jodi had a "migraine"? I've only had a couple in my life, knock on wood. But, know people who do suffer, they sure look different from Jodi. Bless everyone's hearts that suffer from migraines, honestly.

OMG THIS MAKES MY DAY I say warsh (from the south) and my mom did too. My daughter, who has dropped her accent as she went to school in NYC makes fun of me all the time!
