I thought it was really strange that he was out there giving autographs and taking pictures. Then HLN claimed he was a rockstar. That bothered me... While in my own world, and here at WS Juan is a great prosecutor... he is not a celebrity! There was one girl on TV who said she was like... "OMG OMG, he got into the elevator with me and I was in awe". It just strikes me as off that people latch on and believe that this man has celebrity status when he is prosecuting Travis Alexanders murderer. I think its weird.

This trial needs to get over with, the media has turned it into a circus and the crazies are all out there. The longer it goes on the longer I fear that a mistrial could happen because of the chaos.

BBM

I for one am happy to see someone who has spent his life fighting the good fight getting this type of respect.

What is your definition of a celebrity?

The significance of the Elephant to Travis can be found here in and in previous threads

You are welcome

I'm here! Hoping for something Juanderful today, but I'm sure JW will drag this out.

I think you may be right. Let's hope that she doesn't.

  • #104
Actually, yes, only much nicer.

"I'm sorry, I can't do anything that might jeopardize justice for Travis." would work just fine, IMO.

Again, I'm not saying it will hurt the trial or that strictly speaking JM is doing anything wrong, because he isn't, it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. A personal thing, I guess.

JM has tried many famous cases for the State. Just because someone asks for his autograph does not mean they are asking for it because of his current case. I think he is pretty well known there and apparently well liked. Some people just prefer his style. Some don't. jmo

I think JM is amazing, but IMO he shouldn't be giving autographs and the such while this trial is still ongoing if it's something that can give the defense ammo to help Jodi. Also, if it works against the State with regards to the jury, it's not Jean's fault or Jodi's; it's the State's.

*changes out of tomato stained shirt*

The defense can give autographs if they want too... As long as no one is discussing this case, tampering with evidence, etc. this should not bea factor.
I think witnesses who fill out answers and cross boundaries should be more of a concern.

A former prosecutor was on tv and she said there is nothing wrong with JM giving autographs outside of court.

I find nothing wrong at all. So what if the jurors see that? JM is a wonderful prosecutor and is getting praise for his dedication. Big deal!

People like Jean C thrive on creating drama. I ignore her completely.

Never have liked JC, to factually inaccurate in her enthusiasm to be a "personality".

As far as the glad handing, Juan works for the people of AZ. No way does the DA want him to be seen as brusque or rude to the people waiting outside to see him as he leaves court. He's not giving interviews, he is handling a weird situation the best he can.

what time are we 'supposed' to start?

  • #108
Unlike professional athletes, he's not selling the autographs, he's giving them away.

However, if you act now, you can buy sketches/paintings of JM on Ebay:

Elephants have good memories...?

Either that or they like peanuts which is the main ingredient for peanut butter which, I hear, is also making strides to be just as relevant in this discussion.

I hate to criticize the Mods, because they put up with so much @#$% from us, but isn't it better that we exchange recipes than fight about religion, or which is the worst criminal in the world? :floorlaugh:

I have a large collection of elephants and could post lots of photos . . . but I won't.

http://www.🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬/show/n_1rjf5h9

This is where my curiosity gets the best of me, trying to figure out strategy.

It is known that ALv was not originally hired as an expert witness to testify in this phase of the trial; per the link above "As noted, the defendant has noticed her intention to call Ms. LaViolette as an expert witness in the guilt phase." We also know that DT has fought not once, but twice to prevent detailed billings being released, presumably tipping off the prosecution in terms of "strategery". (BBM)

Maybe after JA is convicted and given the DP, we'll gain more insight into the reason behind this shift. Right now, my inquiring mind would like to know.

I think they are deliberately putting the prosecution on wild goose chases to cut into their time to prepare. JMO

Am I in time?? Morning all.

It hasn't started yet.

:fence:

Yes, no going off topic, and I was guilty of that!

Let's start on time today, shall we? I just hope ALV doesn't drone on all morning . Mind you, she is getting good $$$ to be on the stand.

Please no more talk about what Jodi eats and everyones favorite peanut butter fix. :(

I think there is more info in another thread but don't know which one. Basically they are symbolic for Travis' family - in remembrance of him.

RE: ELEPHANTS

Yes, in one of the "Insiders" threads, you can read all about the elephants and the relevance to Travis. It's heartwarming...have tissues handy.

came off a little rude. From that posters join date and post count they are new.

Never hurts to point newbies in the right direction. JMO

Oh. Sorry!! I really didn't mean to sound like that--my DH is home with the flu (both ends involved) and my kids are just driving me nuts.:banghead: I thought it was a post about not staying on topic. I didn't notice they were new.

Sorry!! Welcome!! (I'm usually really nice & friendly!)

Agreed. The groupie sideshow is unnerving! And this is not entertainment.

Have seen talk about elephants what does that have to do with this trial

Elephants are supposed to bring good luck. There have been some coincidences regarding elephants including Travis' had a picture over his bed that included elephants.

  • #116
TV Police...check out KatieCoolLady threads where she talks about TA's sister carrying a stuffed elephant in memory of Travis. Also info about a some gifts sent to the family with elephants on the fabric.

:seeya:

But be prepared to cry so make sure to have some tissue nearby.

Judge Stephens is hearing another case as usual. Stay tuned everyone, should get going shortly. #JodiArias

  • #118
Also--he signed that crazy trial watcher's cane. THAT was the only "autograph" he did. He took some pics with people, then left to go back to his office. It was ONE TIME.

The problem is HLN & JC and their erroneous reporting

So very true. As I flipped by JVM's show last evening, she was screaming "Controversy over prosecutor signing autographs'.

HLN are the only ones turning it into a controversy because there is little else to report on in the courtroom. :drama:

MC Superior Court ‏@courtpio 2m
Trial in State v #JodiArias is set to begin around 9:30ish. Judge Stephens is still doing her morning calendar of cases.

Sounds suspicious - I think he did it on purpose.

Just open two windows - have WS on one and stream on the other - if you reduce them you can put them side by side, or just toggle back and forth.

Thanks so much. LOL Oh he knows not to mess with my Trials. I'm a menopausal woman who watches much much crime :floorlaugh: I'll give it a go. Technologically illiterate here-somewhat :blushing:
