Being unable to handle listening to the drivel coming from Ms Alyce for the past several days of trial, I decided to see what I could find online about her. Specifically, I wanted to see what her formal education has been.

Interesting. Very interesting. And easy to see where Juan will go.

Alyce has a 20 page CV posted online at her own website. It is obviously not professionally produced, since there are errors in the formatting of the document that one does not see in a professionally done CV.

Alyce's entire "Education" section consists of five (5) lines in her twenty (20) page CV. Her highest level of education was a Master's Degree obtained in 1980. Two of the five lines devoted to "Education" refer to licensing in California - which is not quite education, is it?

What I don't see listed is any Continuing Education. At all.

There are pages and pages of "media appearances". There are pages of "court consultations". And pages of seminars and conferences. In all of which Ms. Alyce seems to have been in the postion of "being the expert" or "being the teacher".

All of which is fine. But WHERE, I wonder, is there any indication whatsoever that this woman has formally updated her knowledge since obtaining that degree in 1980? Most of us in the professions attend conferences and continuing education presentations to learn from others. And we would list such on a CV under "Education" or "Continuing Education". I see no such listing on this 20 page document.

What I do see is what looks like someone who must really enjoy public speaking as an "domestic violence expert" and who speaks to just about any group that needs a public speaker for a meeting.

In this trial, this witness continues to use what is in my opinion inappropriate and unprofessional terminology and phrases. The "must be on crack" comment was so far from appropriate for a professional that it made me cringe. But I guess in a way it is good that she says such things, because it really, really undercuts her credibility.

I'll begin to watch again when Juan gets up. I think he has fertile ground for his cross examination skills with Alyce. And I don't think she is going to like it.

I think Jodi's on some kind of barbiturate today. The peanut-butter mouth thing is probably from dry mouth, which is a common side effect of those drugs. She is definitely "floaty" in appearance, slow-lidded, and much slower overall in mannerism and movement. :cow:

It helps her on "cry day" testimony.

That was at a convention in OKC I think. Jodi wanted the women there to know he was her's and she was doing him.

I am going back to my days of practicing as an Addiction Specialist, boy this case has really challenged going over 23 years of clients/patients.

I am having such a hard time... using clinical cases, with some of her declarations. There is a tremendously high percentage (85% - 90%) where alcohol and/or drugs are involved in abuse. Thus, I have seen a lot (more than I wish) of abused people.

I can not remember one abused person telling me they wish to stay. I always heard they would give anything to leave but I can't because I am afraid of the person's violence and/or I don't have the finances to do so.

Fear can't provoke anger.. However, Anger/rage does a pretty darn good of causing violence all by itself. The underlying emotion is fear.. Yet the coping / learned emotion that "works" is Anger/rage.

Now fear is just the opposite with less impact because fear keeps people frozen and inept. If that makes any sense.

This is an overall memory review not specifics just going over 23 years while listening to her testimony especially testifying "counseling stuff".

First, I want to say thank you to what you do. As a "patient/client" of your profession I can attest to the prevalence of substance abuse in abusive relationships. However, your claim that no woman wants to stay (especially after 23 yrs) struck me very hard as "odd" because that is *exactly* what I said when I was first being counseled for my abusive relationship. I completely contradicted your claim and said I wanted to stay - that if he (the counselor) could just fix him or get him to change, that I didn't want to end things. And let me add that I was not married, live in my own house that I paid for and very financially independent. But the last thing I thought about was trying to end things. So I'm having a hard time reconciling my reaction to my abusive relationship with what you say you have never experienced in 23 yrs. I'm far from saying you're wrong- I'm just surprised to think my situation was so unique.

And the other thing that is weird is that the first thing the counselor told me (regarding abuse and rage) is that the root of all rage and anger is always fear. The abuser fears exposure of their own inadequacies, abandonment, etc.

Just a thought, is it possible that JA could have completely re-written her journal, before she murdered Travis.
