Those interrogation tapes with #JodiArias' parents are pretty shocking. Yikes.

She be surfin' the interwebz.
:D

Apparently Good Morning America stated she has an interest in "true crime". I wonder if she is familiar with this site.

IMO, she has bigger things to worry about than one little slip. Her credibility as a DV "professional" is on the line and she MUST sense that. I mean, her entire CAREER is about to be put under a microscope.

Maybe it all sounded a lot plausible in her head as she prepared. Then, when she started talking, she thought, "Heavens! I sound NUTS!" Or maybe she really IS sick. The problem for the DT is that they've cried wolf so many times, nobody believes them OR their client.

Truly, though, ALV is a bright enough person not to have fallen hook, line and sinker for this. She doesn't believe it. Nobody in her right mind would believe it with the evidence presented. She's privy to info on the slashed tires, anonymous email, etc. She saw those police interviews with the parents. She KNOWS.

ALV is egotistical, though. I've seen sparks of it during her testimony. Little jabs thrown after the bell, er, objection. She probably thought she was SMART enough she could convince OTHERS to buy it. She also thought JA would do a better job of "selling it" on the stand before she even got up there. She was never supposed to be the "star witness." THAT was supposed to be JA.

Every time ALV looks at the jury, she realizes she is digging herself in deeper and deeper. These people are over it. And JW is so excruciatingly slow in her questioning, she is stuck up there for days on end just dreading Juan Martinez and knowing he is going to nail her down on every point.

Still, the fact is she seems more concerned with self-preservation than with the damage she is doing to TA's family and to the real victims of DV. Not unlike a certain person who stayed on the stand for 18 days. :moo:
Talk about the frog in the pot! ALV must be wondering how will she ever get out of this stew. :)

No, I didn't mean the judge threatened her with any action against her but just that I'm sure she explained that any statements made to the press will be intensely scrutinized and could be used as grounds for a mistrial so could she please, pretty please, STFU until it's all over.

I don't believe she did that Schuby. That would be overstepping her bounds.

Other dismissed jurors have come out to talk to the media in other cases and I have never seen one case where it was grounds for a mistrial or even an issue on appeal.

Remember the intact jury is admonished that they cannot watch anything in the media or read/talk about it anywhere with anyone.

I'm sure she did inform her she was free to speak with the media now but it was her choice if she did or not and the dismissed juror decided on her own that she will only do so once a verdict is rendered.

IMO

Lol, she really bungled that frog example. I'm sure any jurors who weren't already familiar with it were like, WTH?

I am waiting for he definition of brain scramble, it seems a bit more relevant :D

I'm finally watching the most recent testimony by ALV (going forward I'll only be watching JM because I can not stomach this carp anymore.)

But I have a question. I'm curious what you all think would happen if JM goes up and asks ALV if JA had never told her that Travis was abusive then what is it about all those (endlesss) journal entries, text messages and other evidence that would have convinced her Travis was abusive? In other words, if a known liar (JA) hadn't said Travis was abusive, what hard evidence is there that he was. Curious what ridiculous answer she would come up with...

JA used the words "solar plexus" in one of her journal entries. Both my head and my husband's head snapped up at that. Who uses that term in a journal? I've kept journals my whole life and, I daresay, I never used the words "solar" and "plexus" together. Why not just say "gut" or "stomach."

To me, it reeks of her desire to appear smarter than everybody else - even in her journal. :twocents:

A lot of her phraseology is weird. "courting" for instance. She does try to sound very intelligent.....

OMG. Like de-edify or deedify (wonder if she thinks it's hypenated?!)? It made me lol every time she said it. The opposite of edify would be dissedify.

Chills...

I just read the exteded interview with Sandy, Jodi's mom.

When asked by police if she had any suspicion of her daughter in the murder, she said:

"I asked her, because that's the first thing I asked her.....I said, did you go to Arizona and she said no, I was nowhere near Arizona and I have gas receipts and everything to prove it."

THAT RIGHT THERE should be enough to show she deliberately planned the location of those gas receipts to specifically give the appearance of her not being in Arizona. And she could have never done that without the gas cans.
And we now know she was in Arizona and that in the days following the murder she was already planting the seed of her alibi by offering up the tangible evidence she premeditated.

Think of it this way....SHE knew she was in Arizona, so the only reason she knew it was safe to offer up the alibi of the gas receipts was because SHE ALREADY KNEW that was what the gas receipts would prove - because she planned it that way.

A person taking a long trip would not remember every single gas station you stopped at and if you were faced with a traumatic situation shortly after that trip, there is no way you would make any definitive statements about where you had stopped for gas because that wouldn't be a detail with high priority relative to the tragedy- the ONLY way you could make that kind of definitive claim is if you already knew where you PLANNED to stop for gas in advance.

Frustrating - I don't know why Sandy's interview can't be used in court? If ALV can get up there and regurgitate Jodi's words, why can't her mother???

BBM

I was just about to write that! This proves (to me) premeditation!:twocents:

What's the story with the frog? :waitasec:

It's an example social scientists use to explain how people easily will accept gradual pressures that build over time into untenable situations. It's supposed to be that if you put a frog in a pot of boiling water he'll jump out and live. But if you put him in cool water and slowly increase the temp over time he'll stay in the pot until he is literally cooked alive because, being cold blooded, he will adjust his internal temperature to that of the water around him, gradually, over time, and will not be able to detect the dangerous temperature.

Okay, I've watched, re-watched, and re-watched again and there are definite signals going on between JA, JW, and ALV. Right before ALV pushed up her glasses the second time (more pronounced than the first) she looked at her watch. Right before JW asked to approach she either looked at someone or the clock, in the same direction JA kept looking a couple of times.
Snipped for space

I watched that over and over too. How would JW know ALV was sick, there was no communication, other than looking at a watch & clock. My guess is that ALV had an appointment, but it should have been told to the judge in advance.

On another note, I wonder if someone told Jodi yet that all her journals are now public, all 600 pages. :what:

OT I showed my husband a shirt I got yesterday and he said he didn't like it. I told him that was domestic abuse per AVL and could lead to his demise.

He laughed and said the police would have a field day with my internet history since following this trial, and I should just throw myself on the mercy of the court.

Critical lies for the prosecution

JA has admitted to killing Travis Alexander. Unless there is new evidence on rebuttal of premeditation, IMO JM will continue to hammer at “lies Jodi told us”; he would like this strong enough so that he can tell the jury to disregard anything and everything she has said, with them agreeing. I do think this will be a key part of his closing remarks.

What are the lies she has told in court which have been exposed? Here’s a start:
• Returning the gas can to Walmart (points to premeditation).
• Claiming she did not fill three gas cans (points to premeditation).
• Retrieving the gun by stepping on a closet shelf, which is not possible with resting shelves (Fear of TA story/self-defense could not have happened this way).
• Statement on stand that her testimony has been truthful under oath (credibility).

ALV’s testimony also has contradictions, including:
• 2/11 testimony of April 07 vaginal penetration while JA was sleeping. Arias testified the incident happened in the bedroom of Alexander's Mesa, Ariz., home in May 2007. She said she was uncomfortable but did not tell Alexander to stop. Per ALV, she did ask him to stop and he complied; this was noteworthy for JA’s ability to set boundaries. (credibility with respect to negative testimony re: TA)
• 7/28/07 Diamondback game/TA’s birthday. ALV testified this JA was going out for the evening to the game. Game was an afternoon game (credibility, negates TA controlling behavior).
• 1/22/08 pedo incident. ALV recanted prior statements that the images were on a computer, saying she misspoke. Will JM be able to go after this?
• ALV stating not once, but twice on 4/3/13 that she saw no evidence of jealousy on the part of JA (impeaches credibility of expert witness).

FWIW, JA had a strong reaction last week when she saw the defense witness list for rebuttal. “What is this?, What is this?” pointing to a piece of paper listing Robert Brown, Mesa Police Computer Forensics. Her reaction may have had to do with her sense of privacy being invaded, but I speculate she is aware of some very incriminating evidence not yet brought in as evidence.

Additions? Thoughts? Please limit this to what has been shown in court. We all know JA is a pathological liar and it would take a lifetime to expose every lie.

There were a few. The most notable to me was her retelling of the day JA supposedly walked in on TA in what is now referred to by JM as the mastubatory event. She tells a completely new story about the events leading up to JA's arrival, stated TA was on the computer, had to correct herself and say she misspoke. (She already misspoke to JM on the same topic in their interview months ago) She concluded by telling how JA loaned TA money on that day when per JA's cross and as evidenced by their text messages, it wasJA asking TA if he had made the deposit, he responds yes and then JA texts back something along the lines of thanks sweetie, I'll make it up to you. Of all the stories to blunder she messed up the biggest, the reason TA's violence escalated and the reason he's called a sexual deviant by the DT. It was beautiful!!!

Wow, thanks. That is pretty big. That's the second time we heard someone flub up on the stand and say TA was on his cmputer during the MBE (mastubatory event). Methinks that is the original story Jodi told *everyone* - up until the computer forencis specialist burst that bubble and reported zero 🤬🤬🤬🤬 on his computer.

Good morning, friends!!

I know this is OT but a girl in the next town over (we live in a very small town), same age as my son (14), committed suicide last night. Apparently she was a victim of bullying. :( Prayers for her family, please!!

This world can be so cruel. I feel so sad today thinking about that, thinking about Travis, thinking about his family. It's not fair. Life just isn't fair.
