That age progression photo of Arias freaked me out!!

Thanks...I don't think it's really sunk in yet.

Any good news with the trial?

Yep, JM has grilled ALV and got her to admit JA told her the knife was on the nitestand near the bed. She also testified that JA said she shot TA in the closet.

:jail:

He is done crossing her now. It is on re-direct and JW is still up. The jury has tons of questions for ALV which puts her on the stand for another week, from what I can guesstimate.

I am sorry to hear about your Mom. That is a very difficult time for daughters. I will keep you in my prayers. God bless.

Also, I have to ask..

I am watching the testimony from yesterday and when Juan was asking if the columns said stalking and ALV kept avoiding the answer etc.

I just can't get over the need to not say yes/no and force JM to read every column to get that simple answer.

I wonder if the Jury wants to stand up and scream ANSWER THE DANG QUESTION YES OR NO!

They must be thinking like we are, its obvious it doesn't regardless of WHY it doesn't. I bet they go home and drink.

I am going to admit to being stunned with the verdict for CA...but the truth of the matter is I have followed some trials I thought for sure was a slam dunk either way and I was wrong.

You can never know what a jury is going to do until they do it. I would be upset/shocked/stunned if JA only got manslaughter, but I also remember I see and hear so many things the jury does not. I always remind myself that the jurors are literally supposed to take what they hear at trial and form an opinion. They don't get to watch HLN and Nancy Grace and JVM trot out all the drama on nightly tv.

Kelly

The jurors are pulled from the same Maricopa County voter pool that has elected Sheriff Joe over and over. I'm not worried about them agreeing as a group to less than first degree murder.

One main point she has tried to create, which isn't factual.... is the relationship and the closeness between these two. It was not a partner relationship and I really don't think it ever was. It is like she has them engaged with intentions to marry and we all know that is bs.

IMO

And didn't she also say she didn't find it unusual for JA to move to Mesa AFTER the break up? Like normal people do that every day?

IDK..either she has seen evidence to the contrary but I have never met or heard of anyone following someone AFTER the breakup unless they had ulterior motives and were pissed about the breakup.

I thought we might finally see a juror do a Howard Beale:

One of the things that ALV proved with her testimony was that her continuum could have applied to Travis just as well as Jodi. Maybe more so with Travis because he was not chasing after her. Jodi was doing all the chasing.

OMG! That part of the testimony was driving me nutz yesterday. She was like an eel trying to be cornered when she was talking about the continuum. It was so obvious that Jodi was a terroristic stalker but all the bull ALV was putting out gave me a big headache.

She thinks Jodi is sooo wonderful.......:what: How could someone be so blind? I have read for many years how psychopaths are masters when pulling the wool over someone's eyes . I have seen that happen in the Defense case continually. Unbelievable. ALV has been had and so was Dr. Samuels and it just may change both of their careers forever. I sure hope it was worth it to them to support this vile murderess.

IMO

Morning YESorNO!

First of all based on this information I don't think there will be lesser options.
State v. Andriano, STATE of Arizona, Appellee, v. Wendi Elizabeth ANDRIANO, Appellant."We held in State v. Celaya that “where the sole defense is self-defense so that the evidence requires either conviction or acquittal, any instruction on any other grade would be impermissible.”  135 Ariz. 248, 255, 660 P.2d 849, 856 (1983);  see also State v. Wall, 212 Ariz. 1, 6, ¶ 29, 126 P.3d 148, 153 (2006) (noting that when defendant asserts an “all-or-nothing” defense, the record usually will not support the giving of a lesser-included offense instruction);  State v. Jones, 109 Ariz. 80, 81-82, 505 P.2d 251, 252-53 (1973) (holding that lesser-included offense instructions were not required where evidence at trial and defendant's self-defense theory presented an “either-or” situation requiring either first degree murder conviction or acquittal)."

Even if the Judge decides to allow the jurors to consider lesser options I don't think they will vote for anything less than murder one. I'm confident. :)

Absolutely YES. Jodi has chosen the affirmative defense and it's HER job to PROVE it. Also, these 2 separate counts both get to Murder 1 for the state, premed and felony murder.

I wonder though if the judge will include Murder 2 as it's up to her. THAT will be interesting. :twocents:

Very valid point. I don't live in Maricopa county so the only news I hear about Sheriff Joe is usually when he is in the news for something controversial.

I will admit I do not think his methods are controversial and don't see the big deal. I live where we still have chain gangs. Every so often there will be the whole constitutional rights of inmates being publicly displayed picking up trash on the side of the road.

I think its a great learning lesson for kids personally. See where you don't want to be?

No excuse really. Any professional would have told them that they don't operate that way. Wait...I think about 5 or 6 others did just that didn't they?

MOO

Absolutely agree.

This article bothers me. I don't give a hoot if Wilmott goes to diner with ALV, no big deal, so what. As always, it seems political correctness leans toward punishing the many to kiss butt to a few. I am way tired of it. If the author would have taken a bit more of an investigative approach, they could have, through checking into actual court cases, concluded that it is not the cameras that should be banned from the courtroom but rather it should be the so called "experts" (specifically head doctors and social activists).

Since our justice system leans toward protecting the rights of the accused, the camera allows for the truth to be seen. Since the justice system has this built in lean, what we get are hired guns who will say anything to get paid or to just to further their agenda. We also get lawyers who are not suppose to subjorn perjury but routinely do so. What we get are frivilous motions, more sidebars than testimony and a majority of evidence excluded because with this lean, much of it is considered too prejudicial.

Bull baloney - if an accused's activities are so egregious, the jury should be allowed to know it, as that is who the accused truly is. But yet what we get are dimwits who want cameras removed from the court to ensure the public is kept without knowledge and therefore ruly and subject to sucumbing to the game. The courts and their activities should never be kept secret from the public they supposedly serve and protect.

If experts such as ALV and Doc Samuels can't take the heat then perhaps they should consider being first honest and true to their professions, and secondly being fair instead of tilted toward protecting those that would cause harm. Yesterday, someone (and I am sorry I do not remember who) pointed out how frightening it was to think of how many children could no longer see their fathers because of ALV. I was deeply saddened by that thought as I watched ALV rail on men as being nothing but dildo's with heartbeats. Perhaps members of the press need to consider a few things before putting stupidity to paper.

Very well said.

I think Michael Kiefer, the author, was trying to be even-handed. Plus, Katiecoolady has complained that he's suffering from trial burnout, which may be the case.

I'm perplexed about what he and some of the people think is supposed to happen. ALV brought all this on herself. She WANTED a public forum to talk from. Granted, I'm sure people haven't been polite, but, again, they're reacting to HER statements. Even when I post here, I know people are going to comment on what I say. She's somehow managed to keep herself in a very small bubble where unwanted opinions just don't intrude.

Are you from England, RC? Doesn't the press there have different rules about what they're allowed to say about a case before it comes to trial? And then what about when the trial is going on?

Someone should do an oldify of JW. I wouldn't be surprised if it looked very similar. Crazy how much alike JW and JA are looking these days.

I think jodi was stunning and i think that Travis really fell for her ( until he realized she was whack job); She has pretty much lost her looks and you are right she has those awful marionette lines ( I am way older than she is and i have them and hate them). She has aged at least 10 years since she has been in jail. Hopefully she will stay in prison for the rest of her life and soon her face will be wrinkly and those lines will be worse. oh what fun to watch grodi lose her looks.

I didn't know Alyce went to the hospital last week due to all the stress!

Wow. Didn't she realize what she was getting herself into? I know she's not the brightest crayon in the box but, dang! She's coming off extremely unprepared and unknowing!

This article goes on to mention, Alyce, Wilmott and the other staff member were seen/photographed eating dinner last night and that supposedly is considered witness tampering.

http://www.freep.com/usatoday/article/2073067

i just read a few lines of that article which stated that AVL held her own on the stand- really? that isn't what we all saw- what the hell is that; i read no further

Didn't mean to shock you, sorry. :blushing::floorlaugh:

I am so pizzed that JA is tweeting from prison. WTH! :furious: Read that her lawyers aren't happy that she is either. PLUS she has someone (Donovan) running her personal website???? :furious::banghead:

Why can't that be stopped??

The fact that this latest witness got it wrong on both the pedophile accusation AND where the actual murder took place (Dr. Quack ALSO reported Jodi said in the closet) should be enough to cast more than serious doubt on either their truthfulness or the versions Jodi told them.

I hope the jury clearly sees of all her claims/stories, the 2 most serious, are CONTRADICTED by her only 2 witnesses, supposedly both *experts*.

:jail:

Seriously, those two expert witness's didn't look at the crime scene photos and notice that there was no blood in the closet? Didn't their hinky meter go off?
