That's fine. You just can't complain, though, about the horror show we're witnessing and Travis' memory being dragged through the mud.

IMO

Sure I can, especially when their entire defense is a bunch lies and they are making the murderess out to be a victim, and assassinating his character in the process with zero evidence other than the word of a proven liar.

Jodi's second degree plea also came with an added requirement -- a light sentence recommendation. Of course Juan objected.

the defense wanted second degree added to charging options for this trial as well and the state objected..

second degree is not on the table at all

If the camping trip story is true, and that's a big IF, bet any/all male coworkers that were potentially part of the plan are in shock and thanking their lucky stars!!! I would be scared as a female on a trip with another female bringing a gun.

They are not making a mockery of it.

They are pointing out he was leading a 'double life.'

ALV said yesterday, one half to two thirds of abusers are leading a double life, and the implications of that.

IMO

This post reminded me of the juror question about JA being a liar. AVL tries to say JA only lied after the murder and then goes on to explain that people often lie when they are conflicted about something they have done, that they don't want to believe they did something that is so diametrically opposed to their values - or some drivel like that.

The issue I have is that this explanation perfectly applies to why Travis would keep his sex life private and lie about his virginity. In his Mormon world virginity is probably valued for a single male (even a 30 year old) unlike in most of the rest of the world where males are often valued for their sexual prowess. Travis was tempted and subcumbed but given his values and religious beliefs he was obviously conflicted - according to AVL's explanation of JA's lies, it makes sense he would "lie" about these behaviors that conflicted with his core values.

In AVL's world, JA lies because she is conflicted and not because she wants to avoid the consequences of murder, BUT Travis lies because he wants to avoid the consequences of his sex-capades in his religious and professional world and not because he is conflicted. It is a complete double standard, and AVL does not see this glaring truth because of her total BIAS.

BBM

Sure the hairless part was Jodi and not Travis.

I watched a show last week where a female obgyn was saying most women now are hairless or groomed down there. (not like the old days)

Think about it, when Jodi went to kill Travis she was hairless but she "was not planning on visiting him" according to her. The last time she visited Travis was in April 2008.

BBM: exactly, she even prepared the cat.

I really want her ex boyfriends to testify if she kept the cat groomed while she was having sex with them.... She blames Travis for this also!!

That is so true. My phone is always autocorrecting me and when I don't have my glasses (excuse me please while I go get my Mr. potato head glasses) I'll send out texts without checking them. One went out to my niece that said "I'll bring the slaves." What it should have said was "I'll bring the plates." Apparently my phone thinks I'm a racist lol.

This is a great post! Thanks and Welcome to Websleuths :seeya:

I would love for Juan to be able to ask if she is for or against the death penalty, if that is allowed.

Thank you! I'm not usually so long winded.

See? lol

Here's a gem from Arias' art selling website:

About Me

“Since I was a child, I’ve been drawn to art. I have been privileged to study under the guidance of two very gifted teachers. One, I remember only as Mr. B, the art teacher at Orcutt Junior High School, who I’m sure has long since retired. He granted me creative freedom to veer from the linear syllabus and follow my own inclinations. Richard Rengal, my high school art teacher and a true master of fine art, instilled me with the confidence in my ability that I would carry into the future and do still today. It is in large part due to his ceaseless belief in my skill that I have continued my artistic pursuits years after I last walked out of his classroom.”

When you have art class in junior & senior high school, it's called "studying under the guidance of ... very gifted teachers...[one] a true master of fine art...[who] has ceaseless belief in [her] skill?" :floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

"they" say he was leading a double life.

meaning the defense.

Making a mistake by having sex when it goes against your religion is not necessarily a "double life" imhoo (that is the mockery imhoo)
The only reason, I'm convinced, they're even trying to build a second life that doesn't exist is because it's a pattern consistent with abusers. Most 'outsiders' won't recognize an abuser as an abuser. They will often come across as charming and quite likable to friends, acquaintances, and co-workers. (IME, they really can't maintain the deep derision they feel for the opposite gender in lengthy sessions though.)

You know what else is consistent with an abuser? Isolating their victim. How better to isolate someone than to have a weapon to hold over their head? A secret so potentially destructive it could ruin life as they know it?

Travis had no one he could confide in about the true nature of their relationship because of that. So whether he was crazy about the sex or not really doesn't matter to me...but it certainly matters that an abusive personality would manipulate a victim into depending on the abuser in some capacity, and then threaten them with their own weakness for having fallen for the abuser's manipulative ploys.

Good morning all..Just back to W/S so please forgive if this has been asked..The defense keeps making a mockery of Travis' virginity..Could it be that he WAS a virgin before this temptress(JA) came along? His circle of friends were mostly people from his Mormon community and they knew the vows of chastity. Seems Jodi did everything to entrap him from the beginning..That could be why he behaved the way he did with his "first timer"..

I firmly believe this to be true. TA said he didn't masturbate BEFORE he met her.

Good Morning to All! IIRC she said she did NOT interview anyone other than JA personally. Someone please correct me if I am wrong about this.

You're correct, but she read transcripts of interviews with lots of people and read emails from the Hughses'ses' to Travis.

I honestly think Travis was a virgin, in that he never had vaginal sex. As I understand it, lots of young mormons seem to justify sexual behavior as long as it's not in the traditional sense of vaginal sex. Correct me if I'm wrong but that's how I see it, which would make Travis normal.

I think that was a big mistake on Juan's part. 2nd degree should have been an option.

If someone threatens you with harm for pursuing a course of action that you believe is right, then you can't complain when they make good on their threat? The evil is then justified because you were forewarned? :furious:

Disgusting is right. It reads like a playbook for ALV's testimony. I wonder who actually wrote it.

It struck me during the cross when JM was asking ALV about the "leading questions" when she went to visit her and she had to "pull it out of her." That leads me to believe that the ninja story was abandoned only after ALV effectively turned her into a victim. Otherwise we would still be hearing that Jackie Chan and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon of Arizona came into get Travis and benevolently let her escape due to her own karate skills.

I sure hope Juan calls attention to the jury how many 'mispoke's this expert has made....
after all, someone's life depends on it. Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy.

Is there court today?? I know they added dates.. I don't remember what they were?

And that no facts be released about the case. Um, let me think about this a second, NO...
